  1. "Trump Cabinet picks' ethics disclosures lag behind Obama's" http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/trump-cabinet-ethics-disclosures-233373 "Of the nine Donald Trump Cabinet picks who were to head to Capitol Hill for confirmation hearings this week, only six have reached agreements with the independent Office of Government Ethics to resolve potential ethical conflicts stemming from their personal finances, according to a POLITICO review of public records. By contrast, all seven of Barack Obama’s Cabinet selections facing confirmation hearings at this point in the process in 2009 had already signed ethics agreements."
  2. Dismissing the people in charge of the nukes. Selecting Rick Perry as Secretary of Energy, a position where the last 4 were Ivy League, MIT educated nuclear physicists. So how do you Trumpeters and GOPers reconcile this? Bump
  3. I say shorten the time it takes to review a play. If you can't tell within 20 seconds, it stands as called.

  5. The irony of an Italian man born of imigrants playing a Native American... touché
  6. Fru - can you give this obviously uncool person (aka me) some reference point or background on this? edit: I think it's a Doctor Who episode, but I haven't gotten into that series yet. I only know that it's from Doctor Who. However it seems to sum up most of my feelings regarding this incoming administration.

  8. Got time to slam Meryl Streep and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but not time for intel meetings.
  9. If the person I voted for was supported by the Kremlin and the Klan... I think I'd be rethinking some things in my life.
  10. I'll have another bite of crow. I've made plenty of snarky comments about Tim lately, however it appears he has something rolling with this team. Keep it up. Still a long season ahead.
  11. GOP revives rule allowing $1 salaries for government employees http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/312797-house-gop-revive-rule-that-lets-lawmakers-slash-gov-employees "House Republicans this week reinstated a procedural rule created in 1876 that allows lawmakers to cut the pay of individual federal workers down to $1, The Washington Post reported Thursday." "The new rule follows requests by the Trump transition team for lists of the names of employees involved in specific programs, such as Energy Department scientists who have worked on climate change"
  12. Cornhusker Marriott is nice. Decent location in downtown Embassy Suites is near the stadium and has good proximity to the Haymarket area. Hyatt and Hilton Garden Inn would be solid choices as well.
  13. Paul Ryan: GOP will defund Planned Parenthood http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/05/politics/paul-ryan-planned-parenthood-obamacare/ "Under the "Hyde amendment" that is attached to annual funding bills, no federal money is allowed to go to programs that include abortion services, unless they are needed to preserve the life of the mother or are caused by rape." "The vast majority of federal money that Planned Parenthood does receive funds preventive health care, birth control, pregnancy tests, breast cancer screening and other womens health care services."
  14. Kudos to Tim for switching things up in practice. However, nose or not, I still see him as clownish. Maybe that's "What we don't see" according to Molinari, but I've seen plenty of his teams repeatedly embarrass themselves. A week of "toughness" drills doesn't wash that away.
  15. "Like death penalty or something" Good God.
  16. Interesting question. I say probably not. I think the ball just bounced our way a few more times this year. Now is that an indication that Riley and Co are a total failure? To me, not yet. Did anyone really think NU was going to make any kind of a run last year or this year? Yeah 7-0 and being ranked top ten for a while was nice, but we had to all have known that that was going to be short lived. Last year was basically damage control. This year was establishing a culture/mindset/whatever you wanna call it. And next year will be, in my humble opinion, Riley's true first year.
  17. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but didn't they give kids Track and Field scholarships under the guise of "Oh, he just happens to play football too"? That would be illegal under NCAA rules. Once the dual-sport athlete steps on the field in football, that track scholarship becomes a football scholarship. Hmmm, I could've sworn there was a program that found some loophole doing that. Miami back in the day perhaps?
  18. Worst overall record in the B1G. 2nd in league standings. #UsAlways #3stripelife

  20. That's simply a rediculous prediction. Hey, it's still early.....don't count our tight end out yet. Word on the street is Luke McNitt is looking to unseat POB and Lee
  21. I'll join you and pay for your steaming bowl of crow if this happens. I really haven't been happy with Miles the past couple of seasons...but it seems that he's doing what we've wanted our coaches to do, especially after taking a hard loss--go look for new ideas to implement based on the kids we have on hand, get them tough and scrappy, and have them fight from beginning to end. Looks like Miles is making changes (e.g. hard practices and tough drills, working with Xavier staff re: 1-3-1 zone implementation and guidance) for the better. Hope it pays off, and hope I get to eat crow with Fru. I haven't either. I agree though if he changes things up and gets positive results... gotta give credit where it's due.
  22. Eagerly waiting on the bolded. It was my first thought when I saw that tweet. Have we reached a point where he can project "support" for something by merely tweeting about it, and absolves himself of any responsibility to actually support it through his actions? I wonder if we're entering an era where people are satisfied that Trump tweeted out something they agree with and fail to pay attention long enough to see what he actually does. I think we're there.
  23. As much as I despise Trump, he's not wrong in this assessment. "Trump on Tuesday morning called out his fellow Republicans on Twitter. "With all that Congress has to work on, do they really have to make the weakening of the Independent Ethics Watchdog, as unfair as it," Trump said in one tweet, adding, "........may be, their number one act and priority. Focus on tax reform, healthcare and so many other things of far greater importance! #DTS." http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/gop-congress-ethics-office-233123 Although I'm not sure it's worth much. It wouldn't shock me if he flips on it a few times and sends Conway out to muddy things up even further.
