Because we're too complacent to take to the streets and throw all the f'n crooks out of Washington. Does anyone know about 50,000 people we could replace them all with?

If you want a serious answer - this is the same reason Obama's daughters got Secret Service escorts when they left home to go to a friend's house, a concert, etc. In the event they would be abducted, killed, etc., national security could be compromised via hostage situations or anything similar.

@El Diaco, so the guy we just put in office because he was not a career politician and was going to "drain the swamp" is a crook like the rest and needs the boot as well?

@Atbone, I said I get the costs for security, but why are we playing for the rest of the expenses of a routine (non-government) business trip of a private citizen? The security costs of the Uruguay trip was $10K, why are we paying for the other $87K in hotel costs, etc?
