  1. No speech from MLK is off limits. When and where was this one given? Also I, doubt anyone here would agree 100% with someone else, but hopefully our kids are taught to critically think about issues and they have the freedom to openly debate them if they wish.
  2. Everyone is a unique individual with a unique background. Who said anything about leaving their identity behind?… Unless they chose to I guess.
  3. Learning history is great. The fine line is when it starts to segregate the races again. Not sure why this makes its way into removing advanced math classes either.... Or saying meritocracy is bad. When the George Floyd riots hit I had my kids watch the MLK I have a dream speech and pick out 5 points to discuss. It was great. I told them to listen to MLKs dream and filter what anyone tells them through that lens.
  4. I think most reasonable people are sensitive different cultures and environments especially as they get more experience in life. Just talk to people and learn. Environments go beyond skin color too. These slides goes beyond learning about culture. People also have to adapt to the culture/environment they are currently in. If I go to Japan to study I better be ready to adapt to the culture or I am screwed. Seems like I would be the one needing to learn about their culture In that example.
  5. Content. I don't care what you call it. Seeing the actual content is more important. Seeing how it's delivered even better.
  6. I say that to my teenage boys alot these days.
  7. But everyone on those job sites takes it and learns to give it back. No snowflakes allowed or you wash out.
  8. Nicely done Sotomayor...This is how to disagree BTW. https://www.wnd.com/2022/06/sotomayor-defends-clarence-thomas-cares-deeply/
  9. I do not see why this is part of training for the teachers, or why the students need it.
  10. ...And Russia is the number one oil exporter to China. I figured China would bail them out. Europe and the US stop importing from Russia and Europe has to fire up coal plants to make up the difference. Nice. Putin is an a$$. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/russia-energy-exports-china-displace-saudi-arabia-top-supplier
  11. An opinion piece from FOX so filter it as needed, but can anyone explain to me what is wrong with the statements below? Some of them just seem like type A personality traits. They are part of teacher training in a district. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/proof-critical-race-theory-taught-schools In this section, it takes dozens of traits like the following and assigns them to "whiteness": -"Whites are taught to see themselves as individuals, rather than as part of a racial group." -"Independence and autonomy highly valued and rewarded." -"Be polite." -"Must always ‘do something’ about a situation." -"Hard work is the key to success" and "work before play." -"Emphasis on scientific method." -"Adherence to rigid time schedules" and "plan for the future." -"Nuclear family (father, mother, 2.3 children) is the ideal social unit."
  12. I did that once when I drifted to the side of a very wide track and almost hit an old stump. I braked in time to avoid the stump but sent myself over the handle bars and down a hill full and stumps and downed trees. I managed to jump over and dodge them and came to stop with my hands on a tree. Two dudes in Iron Maiden shirts were on the path at the time and commented on how awesome it was to see me jumping tress and dodging stumps like superman. I think the fact they were stoned made it seem all the better. I came out unscathed but the bike ended up with a bent rim and I had to carry it back to the car.
  13. Is that for real? I think I have been there. Damn toe clips!
  14. The WSJ interviewed a few male kids choosing not to go and wrote an article. There were a few reasons given by the interviewees but no strong conclusions. One reason was they didn’t see the benefit of accumulating all the debt for what they wanted to do, and they would rather just start earning money, but that could apply to either sex. There was some indication by one kid that was interviewed that he felt like he was paying $ to be told how bad he was… White men are racist, sexist sort of thing which would play into some of the discussion in this thread. Another said he simply had no motivation to go, which is what I see in teenage boys. I know of many that are dropping out of HS, getting GEDs and starting a trade. HVAC, plumbing, etc. they are smart kids too.
  15. Agree on the empty gestures. Do you really think civil war? It's hard for me to believe in that many followers. Only hundreds were willing to breach the capital. It really feels to me like the people in power are only trying to keep him from being president again....however they can.
  16. Is the mandate of the committee to hold DJT accountable for Jan 6th? This cnn article implies they are failing to do so. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/17/politics/donald-trump-accountability-jan-6-hearings-analysis/index.html
  17. Interesting that men are less and less likely to attend college. 4 on 10. Why is that? https://www.insightintodiversity.com/the-enrollment-crisis-for-men-continues-to-worsen/#:~:text=In fall 2021%2C the gender,4 in 10 college students.
  18. I was joking with the indoctrination comment. It is the narrative. I have not witnessed it yet with my kids, but I do keep tabs on them and have had discussions about what they brought home from school from time to time. It really depends on the teacher. I remember the day after the 2016 election when my wife yelled to me that Trump won. There was a lot apprehension in her tone. She may have even said holy sh--. I told her we had better buckle up.
  19. "The DCCC needs to sit down and look at South Texas seriously," Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, told Politico on Thursday. "I don’t think it’s a political realignment, but this should send a message to the DCCC... You can’t take Hispanics for granted, which they always do."
  20. Democratic gains in educated voters (educated being bachelors or post grad) is a recent trend. Have the Democrat gains been with the recently indoctrinated, opps I mean educated? charts from Pew Research below. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/10/26/what-the-2020-electorate-looks-like-by-party-race-and-ethnicity-age-education-and-religion/ Interesting that Republicans only make up 29% of the electorate and independents took the majority…barely.
  21. Over half the states now gone….even Wiscy. “With the Wisconsin Association of School Boards' (WASB) decision to cut ties with the National School Boards Association (NSBA), more than half of the nation's state school board associations have withdrawn from the group since it sent a letter to the Justice Department to investigate parents for "domestic terrorism."
  22. Some obnoxious dude who bankrupted real estate businesses won on building a wall between Mexico and the US, while running against the women who was supposed to be the first female president.
  23. So the Republicans get the first Mexican born congresswoman to serve in the House? "Republican Mayra Flores is projected to win a special election in Texas' 34th Congressional District, flipping a House seat after Rep. Filemon Vela, who held the seat for nearly 10 years, resigned in March and vacated the seat." "Flores, who had 51% of the vote to Democratic candidate Dan Sanchez' 43% when the Associated Press called the race, will become the first Mexican-born congresswoman to serve in the House. Her family moved to the United States when she was six years old."
  24. If 2022 was for a presidential election, no way Biden wins. Anything can happen by 2024.
