  1. So, I'm at a wine bar that my wife and I are regulars at over the weekend, and the sCUm/UCLA game is on TV. Something good happens for UCLA and I gave a quiet little clap about it. Some clown next to me in perhaps the ugliest western shirt I've ever seen glares at me and says "What, are you a UCLA fan or something?" I said no, I just can't stand CU and that I'm a Nebraska fan. He smirks and asks me what Nebraska fans have ever had to cheer about. I respond with "Well, not much lately, but we did enjoy all of the national championships and kicking CU's a$$ for many, many seasons." He mumbled something about living in the past, flashed me the Shadeur watch gesture, and stumbled away to join his group of friends, who were all giving him very awkward, "shut your pie hole" looks. I hate CU "fans"...
  2. I was very concerned after the Dbacks choked away game one in the 9th, but wow, did they ever respond in game two. Love that team!
  3. It was really ugly, wasn't it? I know that it's an excuse, but I really think Pat was very sick, he just didn't look right. I can't imagine trying to play a football game with the flu, that dude is a gamer. I'm just glad that the streak is finally over. The Chiefs need to find Mahomes some weapons, that receiving core is weak outside of Mr. Taylor Swift. I'd expect for them to be looking for someone at the trade deadline for sure.
  4. Holy hell, the Dbacks did it! I am so frigging excited for this team. I know this is a terrible World Series for the majority of baseball fans, but I'm thrilled.
  5. It was an epic night for sure. I've been a Nuggets fan my whole life, and I never thought we'd have the chance to experience a banner raising. The fact that it came along with a win over the Lakers was just icing on the cake. I have to admit, I enjoyed the "Who's your daddy" chant more than I probably should have, but having the chance to experience that environment with my son was just awesome.
  6. Unfortunately I missed most of it because of the Nuggets game, but my wife watched it along with the baseball game. She said that it was really well done. By the time I got home to watch, it seemed like Weeksy and Buch were a bit punchy, and all they had to talk about was the record for goals in one game league-wide. From what I could tell though, it seems like it was a hit. I'd love to see them do something like this much more often, very cool.
  7. I am very excited to be attending the Nuggets home opener tomorrow for the banner ceremony. The team has a ton of events planned throughout the day, so my son and I are both taking a day off from work/school to attend everything, including the live recording of a podcast that he really likes, Through the Wire. He met those guys at summer league in Vegas last year, so it should be fun. Really hoping that the Nuggets follow it up with an opening win against those damn Lakers!
  8. For the love of all that's holy, stop pitching to Schwarber! I'm afraid that the Dbacks run will come to an end today, but I'm very much at peace with it. If someone had told me at the start of the season that they would make it to the NLCS, I would have been thrilled. Very excited about the future of this team, and it's been a long time since I could say that!
  9. And ASU found a way to lose, too bad. Pac12 officiating was a mess once again, but it would have been really nice to see the Devils pull this one off. Bummer.
  10. I give up @Mavric. We didn't even watch much of the game last night, it was so awful. And Sean Payton calling a timeout as the first half is almost over, before they have to punt, giving the Chiefs more time to kick a field goal before halftime? I think the Chiefs were content to let the clock run out, and Payton admitted that he lost track of the down, which explains the terrible call on 3rd down. Local media is blasting him for this today.
  11. I like Kershaw, think he's a decent dude. But as a Dback fan, that game was glorious. The Dodgers have absolutely owned the Dbacks, so I thoroughly enjoyed watching that game. If they can somehow get a win tonight, that would be amazing!
  12. I hate to think they would, but I can see it happening. He's probably got the most value of anyone, and for a team that needs so much, if they could get some high picks for him, I can see Payton making that move. I'm afraid that it's going to be some more long years ahead of us Mav...
  13. I was so hoping that the Devils would pull it off. They don't have much talent, but the team plays hard and I'm cautiously optimistic that the new staff will have them moving in the right direction soon. That being said, I'm so tired of Shedeur's act. He's obnoxious and seems to be tone deaf. Dude squeaked out a win against a 1 win team, and his move is to taunt the student section? Come on man, be better, have an ounce of humility. But, I'm a bitter Sun Devil alum, so what do I know?
  14. @Mavric, I don't even know what to think anymore. They have become one of the worst organizations in the NFL, and I'm not sure when it's going to turn around. I think they are in full rebuild mode now, and I anticipate a huge fire sale coming soon. I won't be surprised to see them move Jeudy, Surtain, Clark, and Simmons (which would really suck). Those players have significant value, and I'm afraid that's the only option at this point. Ugh.
  15. I was really hoping that he'd work out here, but what a bust. I could see him going to Buffalo maybe. Von is about to come back, and that would be a pretty crazy edge pass rush they'd have there. They can probably get him on the cheap too.
  16. Great win for the Dbacks yesterday! I was nervous when they went down 3-0 early, but impressed with the win, especially with one of their two best pitchers not getting the start.
  17. I feel for you @admo. I think the league is just generally tired of Kyrie and the drama that goes along with him. Nice spin by him and the Mavs though, had to be said. As for Dame, I'm still shocked that he didn't go to the Heat; at least he's out of the West, dude has been brutal to the Nuggets many times over the years.
  18. He's absolutely horrible. I've always thought that it's just generally bad when people know the name of an umpire, referee, official, etc. It's rarely for a good reason. In other news, the Dbacks are hanging on for the wild card. I think that's a pretty amazing accomplishment for that team, although I fully expect it to be a very short playoff run if they do make it.
  19. Can't blame him for wanting to take the trips, but Tucson? Gross!
  20. I always thought that was such a stupid penalty. What's the point of having a home field advantage if the team is penalized for the crowd being too loud? I do remember that Elway would do this a lot and get away with penalties being called against the other team. The other fans would be pissed, and just get louder, resulting in another penalty. Always made me chuckle.
  21. I played in 7th grade for the middle school and was a complete wuss. I was fast, so I was in at RB, WR, and kick/punt returner. But, I was terrified of contact. It got to the point that, after the season, my parents both took me aside and told me that football might not be for me and that I should probably not play it. Fast forward a year to 8th grade, and I tell my parents that I want to play again, and this year it will be different. I was still fast and a runt, but had a totally different attitude. I played nose tackle and left guard as one of the smallest kids on the team. I was a beast out there, having a great time with contact ever single play. But, after two concussions that season, we all decided that football was not in my best interest, and this is back in the day when concussions were just getting your bell rung. Needless to say, moved on to playing baseball year-round after that. I did miss playing football though.
  22. It's probably due to my extreme dislike of the Chiefs, but that song is horrible.
  23. Ten years for me, after I also escaped Huskerpedia. That place got wild.
  24. That Bears/Broncos game is going to be ugly. I can't believe that a team that just gave up 70 points is a road favorite in Chicago. That says a lot about where the Bears are right now, yikes.
