Well looking more and more like my weekend plans to go tubing are shot to hell.

I thought the prohibition was when there wasn’t enough water? Now too much water is a problem too. We used to screw around and float in the Loup and Platte rivers and can’t remember even the deepest holes ever being more than about 3-4 feet deep. Most of it was 1-2 foot on a good day. The rest of the time we were walking. But none of that was probably anything like actually floating down the Elkhorn.

I will say that 5.5’ of swiftly moving water can get you in trouble in a hurry. Years ago I was fishing in the Cache La Poudre river. It was about belly button deep and moving at a pretty good clip, got my lure stuck on some rocks and made the mistake of bending over facing upstream. Instantly filled my chest waders and I was about 200 yards downstream before I could get me feet back under me. I guess a lot of people drown that way That was my only white water rafting experience.
