  1. Philosophical statements can be used according to agenda. For instance, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We know what happened when we kept a coach around for 25 years......and we know what has happened when we changed coaches every 6 years. Just how long would you like to keep him around without winning anything, and repeatedly being humiliated on national TV? I guess the same amount of time it's exaggerated how we haven't won anything. Osborne went a few years himself with no conference championships, and later had a 7 year bowl losing streak.
  2. We've been doing that every 6 years since Osborne's retirement. How's that working for us? Don't even get your question. So are you suggesting that we stick with a coach that is not elevating the program just because past coaching hires have failed? How has Pelini not elevated the program? Do you need to revisit Callahan's record and missed bowls? Yes, he's elevated the program if you're using Callahan as the benchmark, but I'm seeing a team that's been a complete embarrassment nationally. Where are we going? Are you happy with the direction of the program? I'm not, I think changes need to be made. Actually I do like what I see from a helicopter view. Pelini has learned quickly from personnel mistakes he made in the recent years. Our defensive line, while young, is going to be exciting to watch develop. LBs have been an Achilles heel, and I think once the maturation catches up with their athleticism, we could be in good shape there too. On offense, we've been led the past few seasons by a high risk/high reward quarterback with no proven depth there. Hopefully that's changing. I don't think musical head coaches is the answer.

  4. I agree with what I think is Accountability's point.......Armstrong and/or Kellogg are keeping the chains moving. That's not happening as we need it with Martinez in there. Why is that? I don't really know. I know when we've needed to put some points on the board, it hasn't happened with a Martinez led offense.
  5. What is a variation of a poor record?

  7. I've had a problem with Pelini since last year's Ohio State game. I've long believed this team has systemic issues. Pelini has been here too long for excuses. He does not deserve time, trust, or second chances. He's in year six getting whipped by a Minnesota assistant. It's over. Pelini has no defense and no defenders. The program is an embarrassment and there is no one left to blame. Good points. Who will be the next coach in line for 6 years then fired?
  8. I agree it's a good idea, but if it worked once Beck would call a receiver screen the next play.

  10. I would agree with EZ-E's point. We were not out coached today. The number of tackle opportunities missed by Santos and Z Anderson today for example was staggering. And on offense, I have zero faith in our ability to convert a 3rd down with Martinez under center. Well many sports reporters, former player, and former coaches on air and online disagree. Sam Mckewon, whom most respect his opinion, used those exact words in his video review. As a coach I can say this...if you have to constantly blame the execution over and over again year after year, you're teaching methods are failing. We might be slightly exaggerating the length of time Pelini's defenses have struggled here. Nearly two whole seasons is not a large enough sample size for you? How about the predictable assbeatings that happen every year? Are we going to start this circular discussion again? And I suppose that by "happen every year", you are referring to four or five specific games the past couple of seasons. So you're not a Pelini fan......no biggie to me. I suppose by the way you word your response, you are okay with four or five embarrassing blowouts the last couple of seasons? So you have low standards for Nebraska football......no biggie to me. Nah, the low standards left with the firing of Callahan. My response was worded the way it was because it has been very specifically discussed what has been done to take the program to the next level.
  11. I also think it's a real possibility that Pelini keeps his job.
  12. Zaire Anderson was in position to make several tackles today, including at least a couple for losses. It didn't happen.

Many of the former players are talking about attitude, which I would agree with. Pelini has talked about that the past few weeks. I very much respect McKeown's opinion and quite often agree with him. As far as former coaches on air and online......there could be a reason why the word former preceeds the word coach when referring to many of them.

  17. Whether Armstrong or Kellogg, what has been most beneficial is keeping the chains moving. Something that for whatever reason is simply not happening with Martinez.
  18. Which means they will have a good regular season
  19. Pelini will be our head coach for the foreseeable future.
  20. I'm on the west side of Denver near the foothills. The airport isn't too bad of a drive, even though it's on the far east side. We refer to it as Western Kansas International Airport where I live.
  21. While I'm fine with it if Martinez starts and/or plays, my expectations for him are simply. Zero turnovers.
  22. I think this may be the last thing he would be told after the second half of UCLA. He's either ready to run or he's not.
  23. While I agree he's been a very good player for us......I think the above may be a bit of a stretch.
  24. I JUST figured out that Gorilla emblem - i thought it was some sort of crown from "Keep calm and . . . " Split face gorilla logo is Pittsburg State University in Kansas......excellent DII football program.
