  1. I agree...Pelini should have been fired after the 2012 debacle vs Wisconsin, and Riley is simply not the right answer to turn this program around. I honestly think that, had Pelini's personality not been such a strong factor in his firing, we may not have focued on finding the nicest guy out there to take over. It's like Eichorst was so focused on finding the anti-Bo that he forgot to find a good head coach.
  2. And the same with Fuente. But I doubt SE would go for them anyway. He did NOT have any chance with Harbaugh, but he could have pushed for McElwain and did not.
  3. I hope they will keep this thread up. I posted one earlier today titled "Calling Justin Fuente" and it got taken down after a couple of posts. I guess we are not allowed to hope for better coaching than we are seeing so far this year.
  4. Offensively the final score in this game was NU 26 NW 23, and while I realize NW may have still scored once more in the 4th quarter, that just goes to show you how dumb of an interception Armstrong threw in that situation.
  5. I really dislike that notion. I know players practice and all but how do you know a player is not game ready unless you give them a shot? Many players throughout history have come off the bench and jumped into the spotlight. You really don't know how good someone is until you put them in a live game. See 2007 when Sam Keller went down, Joey Ganz came in and became a very, very good QB and people constantly kept saying we had no one behind Keller that could be a solid QB. I heard AJ Bush was good As long as the other quarterbacks remain on the bench, they never will get good. i am beginning to doubt the coaches ability to judge talent in practice. I think Armstrong it too good of an athlete to bench him. He is not a pocket thrower and I don't think he ever will be. He is an amaxing runner and throws reasonably well on the run. He would be a Heisman candidate if he was running an old Husker triple option offense. I think he would have done better than Crouch. I think Riley and Langsdorf are too much of the west coast offense crowd. They need to change. Good point. If they refuse to adapt to a style of offense that suits Tommy (running him more), then they need to put in the QB that is the best passer on the team, and if Tommy is our best passer, we are in real trouble. My guess it that Riley is not going to go away from the offense that requires the best passer, so I really think it will be more up for grabs than you think.
  6. Perlman needs to go ASAP. NU has had way too many bad coaches in a row.
  7. When does the new chancellor take over?
  8. This. Tommy will be the starter next year, so I'd stop thinking about the freshman or anyone else. Tommy knows the system the Best, and he's apparently the Best option we have. POB will have to learn the offense, the phrasing, build chemistry with the receivers and OLine. Tommy has all of that. The coaches will not upset that. Mark my words. This is coming from a fan who is silently wishing for Tommy to be benched, all while full-well knowing he won't be. You may be right, but here's the question....if a 3-year starter has lost 5 games already this season, and is not able to execute in the new system, why should we expect a different result in 2016. Thus, if 2016 is going to be another long season, I'd rather do it with someone new and let them learn along the way.
  9. Riley and company did nothing to stop the pressure from this fan base from demanding another change. When execution gets worse as the season goes along, that is a sign of ineffective coaching. Unfortunately Eichorst will not be making a change, and someone like Fuente will be snatched up after this season ends. I fully supported getting rid of Pelini, but at least pick someone that can help take the program forward.
  10. Each one of these five losses were winnable games. And look what Michigan and Iowa did to NW in the previous two weeks. We are light years behind Iowa...............Iowa. We are light years from being respectable with this staff. Roll the dice, start from scratch next year. Pay real money for a winner. Memphis' coach is looking good, but rumor has it that South Carolina is going for him with some big money.
  11. Well I guarantee he's lost a majority of the fans.
  12. He is completing 80% of his throws...nearly double TAs Comp%He's in high school. TA isn't a good thrower or decision maker but we don't know sh#t about how POB will be in college. See Johnny Stanton. You are trying to make a completely faulty comparison simply because they are from the same state and have some hype. It's like saying that Jordan Stevenson will never do well at Nebraska because he's an African American running back, and Aaron Green didn't do well when he was with Nebraska. These are two completely separate individuals. I take it you are pleased with Armstrong's performance given your comments. Actually, I'm comparing POB to every hyped up high school QB who has ever existed. Most of them don't start as true freshmen. Stanton is one of hundreds of examples. I don't give a crap where POB is from or what race he is. I didn't know he was from California. Also, please learn to read. I just said in the exact post you're quoting that TA is not a good thrower or decision maker. Then why the comment that he's the best player on the team. Nobody ever said that. Our QB play is not good right now, and so many fans are wondering if there will be other options in 2016. Nobody is saying he would come in and be the best player on the entire team, so I'm not sure why you are implying that.
  13. It's been screwed for many years, but appears to be getting worse.
  14. Yes, special teams play is terrible. Not sure why we have a coach for that.

  16. Nobody is saying he's the best player on the team. It's a fair question...if none of the backups on the current team are good enough to replace Armstrong this year, odds are they won't be next season too, so only somebody new coming in would have that opportunity.
  17. I wish that had been the case. Maybe then our defense wouldn't look so horrible. Haha...we traded a horrible run defense for a horrible pass defense with the change in staff. But for today, it seems like we've reverted back to the Pelini years. It wasn't a horrible run defense. It was a defense that could give up running yards against now starting RBs in the NFL. Sure you can scream 408 all you want, but our defense now gives every QB we play a career day. I'd trade 1 loss to Wisconsin a year to this. Outside of the cupcake games, we gave up way too many rushing yards against Big Ten competition. Minnesota ran all over us too. We finished the 2014 year 78th in rushing defense which I don't think is good, but if you do, more power to you. Cause dead f'ing last in passing D is an improvement. I'm not happy with the pass D leading up to today and am not stating that...I was just making a casual observation that we all the big plays we are giving up today are from rushing and it reminded me of the Pelini years....no need to get all bent out of shape.
  18. Tommy has already given away 7 points this game...let's see if he gives away another 3 here with a missed FG.
  19. Inexcusable for an experienced QB to lose 10...what a pathetic...nevermind.
  20. I agree with that...they are improving from week to week unlike offense and special teams. I was just commenting that giving up big run plays instead of big pass plays reminds me of last season.

  22. Well our running attack is terrible today...the O-lline is not doing its job.
