  1. The fans and bloggers sure did a number when they hired Solich, Callahan, Pellini and Riley. Then, they doubled up and fired Solich, Callahan and Pellini. In between all the hiring and firing, they played, coached and lost a bunch of games as well as diminish the brand of Nebraska football. Those darn fans and bloggers, always up to no good! Pretty soon those same fans and bloggers will quit packing the stadium every football Saturday as well, and put a nail in the coffin of the final nationally relevant record that Nebraska has. But wait, that hasn't happened yet. Can you explain why?
  2. What's different is while BC was stinking up the joint, he was pulling in amazing recruiting classes. At least there was some hope then, there really is none now.
  3. This does suck. Never imagined seeing a Nebraska team like this. Never. BC's teams were better.
  4. What the heck does he mean by this? Does he mean there are players who aren't buying into the new staff or giving 100 percent effort?
  5. Good post. I haven't been anti-MR from the beginning. After the the loss to Illinois I had convinced myself that he was not the right guy for this job. After some time and a press conference or two, I decided this guy might be the right one for us. Looking back at those losses, it doesn't seem so bad, except for maybe the Illinois loss. I have never seen a team lose games the way this one does. That's probably not a good thing, but I'm willing to give the man some time to try and right the ship.
  6. And it continues. We are still stuck in the Twilight Zone. Never have seen this happen to one team this many times in one season. Wow.
  7. I'll have what your having. Pass the kool aid!
  8. I totally understand where Keyshawn is coming from about how the crap spewed across these boards can have a negative impact on recruiting. What others fail to see though is that losing has an even greater impact on recruiting. I think recruiting would be at an all-time low If things continue on this trajectory for a couple of years. Regardless, any little bit we can do to help out the program, I am all for it. So I hear you Keyshawn, tone it down. Got it.
  9. Darn. I thought you said you were sticking around because this was therapeutic.
  10. My answer: maybe not. Just because I refuse to be tied down by simple answers.
  11. Wow. Did he really say that? Or is that something that is implied? Not trying to stir up controversy, just wondering if he really said it out loud, because it's been implied by the playcalling. Here are his comments and the stats....... We do not have an OC that comprehends the running game.Heading into the game, the Huskers were converting on 41.2 percent of their third downs, which is middle of the pack at No. 62 in the country. On Saturday, the Huskers converted just four of their 17 chances, or 23.5 percent.[/size] Here’s the breakdown: Nebraska went with a pass on 12 of the plays, a run by quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. on three of them and a run by fullback Andy Janovich on the other two. Armstrong went 2-of-11 with an interception and a sack, with one of his completions to tight end Cethan Carter for 55 yards and the other to Terrell Newby out of the backfield for four yards on third-and-16. Armstrong busted off a 32-yard scramble, but his other two carries went for two on third and three and for a loss of three on third and five. Janovich carried the ball for gains of four and 10, converting both times, and both were on the drive preceding the Illinois game-winner. Again, three of Nebraska’s four conversion were via the run. But they only ran it five times. Why? “It’s hard to convert third-and-6, third-and-7 runs all the time,” offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf said. “I think you can get them occasionally.” True. However, Nebraska had third-and-4 or less seven times. They threw it four times, all of them incomplete, and ran three times, with two conversions by Janovich during a clock-chewing drive. Nebraska had a third-and-5 or 6 four times. It converted two with the big run by Armstrong and the big pass to Carter, ran for a loss of three on one and threw an incompletion on the fourth. The Huskers had six third downs of 7 or more yards and didn’t convert any of them, going 1 of 5 through the air with an interception and a sack. “Success on those early downs can get us in those third-and-2, third-and-3 situations where we feel pretty good about running it,” Langsdorf continued. “But we really had some things going in the passing game. We thought we had some open plays that we didn’t connect on. But I like where we’re at with the run. We had good production there. We ran hard and stuck with it.” http://hailvarsity.com/news/commentary/run-the-ball/2015/10/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=2015_10_05_Runtheball_3&inf_contact_key=13b766c933cbdf1485a3c0d310bad588f1f426ac8db7a496e0c4e3870c27dafb Ughh, this makes my stomach turn.Langsdorf said during one of the post practice interviews that 3rd & 3 or 4 are passing downs. Then this weekend, he says it is hard to call more than two running plays in a row. It is no surprise they throw it so much on 3rd downs, regardless of the distance. It is part of his offensive philosophy. I don't even know what to say about this. This 3rd & 3-4 statement sounds like a square peg in a round hole if there ever was one. This is exactly the type of thing MR said they weren't going to force onto the team. As for not running more than two running plays in a row, that's also absurd. How do they know how hard it is if they never do it.
  12. To paraphrase Dabo Sweeney after beating ND. We can pay for their education, books, room and board, but not for their heart and guts. It's Bring Your Own Guts, BYOB.... Referring to how the Tigers played Sadly, the lack of effort is not a new phenomenon to NU under Rikey. I remember half a$$ed efforts under Cally and Bo. Not sure how to fix it. I guess sit guys like they did Davie ( he still have a shirt?) I think Davie is injured now. Not sure if he was playing injured or if he still has a blackshirt. Not sure how to fix it either, a coach has to be real careful in this situation. If they aren't, we could end up like Texas. Heck, maybe we're already there.

  14. I just have a weird feeling about Wisconsin. I'm not nervous about it at all. For some reason, I think we are going to win convincingly. Of course I am probably wrong, but this is just a gut feeling.

  16. I think what you said about culture of the program is true, it needs to change. Besides our coaches needing to pull their heads out of their keisters, this might be the next most important thing to get in front of. I do think this can be changed rather quickly though, unlike other issues like installing schemes and personnel shortages.
  17. Link As we all know, this season is not going how the majority of us expected. Especially considering the circumstances surrounding our losses. Reading through this article made me think that this season has come straight out of the Twilight Zone. I have to believe that we will get out of this shortly, too many crazy things to happen to one team in the span of 5 games, and the turnaround will happen under Mike Riley. My question to the board is when do you think we will get out of this funk?
  18. So, Wisconsin performed below talent level once, while we hit below 6 times. Nice.
  19. Apparently thats the game plan of those who are easily led... What's your gameplan?
  20. Is there a Nebraska rank line? Or do we not even want to look at it?
  21. So the investment by the fans and donors, which supports the program, don't deserve to have a decent product for a return on their investment? Why do we deserve more than other teams? Because we put the time and money into it more than the other teams. That's why. Yeah, so does everyone else. Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, and many, many more have just as much, if not more, fan support. If you see this team as being an investment, a business operation, then you're in it for the wrong reasons. You'll never be satisfied with your "investment". What time do you put into it? going down to the stadium 8 times during the fall on the weekends to drink beers with your buddies then go sit in the stadium for four hours to bitch and moan every time we throw an incompletion? Everyone else does not do it. The vast majority of teams do not have the fan base, donors, rsources etc. that Nebraska has. Also, investment has a lot more to do with than just money and business. I'm not going to check the numbers, you can feel free if you want, but I don't think we're the pinnacle in college athletics in terms of fan base size, the amount donors have given, or overall resources that are provided. We are within the upper echelon, but there are many more that have just as much to offer, or are at least comparable. So then what does your investment consist of outside of money? I'm not going to check the numbers either. What's the point if we both agree that Nebraska is in the upper echelon. Which also means that there are some, but not many more that have just as much to offer. Don't get twisted about the "investment" part. All I am saying is that the fans invest more time, energy, money and emotions into this program that put it in the upper echelon. And with that, they deserve to have a decent product put on the field. So far the product this year does not cut it. I hope it changes here in the future, starting with a thumping of Wisconsin.

  24. This sounds strangely familiar.
