  1. I'd rather keep Riley for the rest of his life than see Bielema coaching at my alma mater.
  2. Hannibal

Couldn't be said any more concise than this ^
  3. Well, they haven't had much success anywhere else, so I can't argue with you.
  4. I'm simply curious as to what this offense looks like with a pure pocket passer. It would be interesting to see. It'd be even better if his passes were caught.
  5. This team is terrible, and I've seen nothing this season that makes me think we'll have any better results with this staff in the future.
  6. Thanks for that insight on the first game of the season. ..........You don't get the point..errrr? You also have to play to your strengths and weaknesses. Tommy is not a guy you want to rely on slinging it around 50-60 times a game. Exactly!
  7. This is definitely one of Armstrong's worst games. Terrible throwing and terrible decision making. With that said, I still give him a break because it's very obvious in this game, as it has been every game this season, that Armstrong is not being used correctly at all. He is NOT a passing QB, and everyone except the people calling the plays knows this! Nobody is going to perform well at anything if they're being demanded to perform using their weaknesses instead of their strengths. We got a demonstration of what Armstrong's strengths were with the option TD, and yet the staff still refuses to use him appropriately in spite of obviously knowing what he's good at. These kinds of small but baffling decisions don't give me confidence that this staff will ever accomplish anything of substance even with better players.
  8. The penalties may be the key to the improved offense. When a 5 yard run is negated by a penalty, then Langs immediately resorts to the pass. Indeed. I think the lack of penalties thus far has been the decisive difference in this game vs past games this season. Our pass defense certainly isn't any better.
  9. Good to see something resembling a commitment to the run game. With as inexcusably bad as the pass defense is, at least on the whole we are tackling much more effectively than last year. That is the kind of simple, fundamental fix I was hoping Riley would implement across the board. That said, I'm also very pleased by the lack of penalties today so far.
  10. yes, fire a coach less than a year after firing a 9 win coach. naia division 2 position coaches will be beating down the door for a paycheck. because no one would come near nebraska if that happened. Then you haven't been paying attention to college football for the past 30 years if you think this way. :-| We can get a quality coach at DoNU at the end of the season if we open the wallet. Riley was a dime-store hire, and we're getting dime-store results. And opening the wallet doesn't mean throwing 10m a year at a coach (like Texass wants to do with Saban), but it does mean we may have to pay a quality coach $4-5m a year. And considering that Nebraska's mediocrity will have a significantly negative impact on merchandise sales and brand value, it's honestly shocking that our leadership didn't make a quality hire last time around. Nailed it.
  11. We're miraculously saved by a shanked kick and then proceed to do nothing and let Wisconsin back to exactly where they were with 9 seconds left in the game. Unreal.
  12. Honestly is it really too much to ask of any QB to throw off his front foot? Really? No, that's bad; passing is his major weakness and everyone knows it. Which is why he shouldn't be asked to pass 30+ times a game.
  13. Tommy is being horribly used as a QB. He's being forced to play to his weaknesses and only plays to his strengths when a play is blown. Sad to see.
  14. Man, we just cannot defend against the pass. It is absolutely pitiful.
  15. And that was one of the main things I wanted fixed with Bo's replacement. Oh well Same here. Hopefully next time will be better.
  16. "Nebraska is the most penalized team in the country." Ouch
  17. Liking the extra pressure on the quarterback today. Now stop throwing the ball.
  18. yes armstrong f'd up...just like he had been all day...so is he calling the plays? is he making a decision to throw the ball with a minute left against a team that hasnt been able to move the ball all day. kicking the FG maybe...but how reliable is the kicker? you punt the ball into the corner. make them go at least 80yds. send pressure so the QB doesnt have time to beat your pathetic CBs deep. they have no timeouts and would have less than 40secs....there is no way this is not on the coaches!it was a calculated risk I remember another coach that took a risk in an orange bowl by going for two instead of tying it up it didn't work either but I think we all know who IM referring TO We were playing f'ing Illinois, not a national championship contender in the Orange Bowl.
  19. I want Eichorst fired. Terrrrrrrible hiring decision. Program-defining even. You make me laugh I'm glad someone is laughing.
