  1. You SOB, I am on my phone on a conference call and on huskerboard on my iPad. Hope my colleagues liked the Rick Astley.
  2. That pic was tweeted at 4:57, but according to YSU's calendar the event doesn't start till 7:00 p.m.
  3. Interesting. So I think it's safe to assume he is a big-money donor, especially since that article is 15 years old and his business seems to have expanded rapidly in that time.
  4. If you believe the Tressel sightings that have been reported, Tressel must have declined the job if it hasn't been announced yet. It is starting to look like we are up the creek without a paddle. Maybe Cotton can be an interim head coach for 2015 with an eye toward finding a replacement for 2016? Uh, no.
  5. That plane is registered to Landscapes Unlimited. Do alot of golf course design. Anyone know if any of the owners are big boosters?? Looks like Bill Kubly is the owner. Is he a known big booster? I looked up all the officers of the company and then googled them. Didn't find anything except that one received an award from UNL's Business College a few years back. Is that creepy?
  6. Yep, contract renegotiation time now that he's won his first conference games.
  7. I don't think he's winging it either. But hm, I don't think there's a lot that's been put in jeopardy. 9 win seasons are OK, but they're not substantially better than 7-win seasons, for example. And Bo did his utmost to transform Nebraska into a place where 9 wins would become the celebrated, contented norm. That road we were going down put a lot more in jeopardy and it was a development that had to be stopped -- along with that bunker vs the fans mentality.I hope we can get the splash (it'd be Tressel, for me. What a perfect match for both sides, IMO) but in the long run, any number of coaches could step in and accomplish the healing this program needs right now. And that's whether or not they produce, or step aside for a yet more future coach to try. Bravo.
  8. I am biased but I would say Nebraska. A successful coach is worshipped like a god in Nebraska. That said, don't underestimate Michigan's resources (i.e. money and population).
  9. So am I. The writing on the wall couldn't be more clear for Hoke.
  10. Pelini has had 7 years to do something of substance here and has failed to produce. With such little to show for the investment in that long a period, Bo would lose his job in virtually any profession and in his current profession at any school with a football tradition comparable to our own. An objective, emotion-free analysis of Pelini and his record leaves no doubt that he has not met the expectations of his job here and shows little signs of being able to do so in the foreseeable future. Your argument, and most of those in support of keeping Pelini, is largely based on nothing more than emotion. Whether that be the irrational fear of hiring Bill Callahan-in-disguise or a misguided feeling of personal loyalty to the coach, most of the pro-Bo arguments now rely on an appeal to some kind of emotional response instead of a factual analysis of his record. This is very telling, and it means that many people subconsciously know he's not doing the job, even if they can't admit it. The worst of these emotional arguments, however, are the incessant comparisons of Pelini to Osbourne. These are based on emotion yet again, but with the added feature of refusing to compare the factual accomplishments of the men, and in effect, inadvertently tarnishing the reputation of Osbourne in the process. Many younger fans don't even remember Osbourne, so to hear him constantly compared to Pelini can only enhance the perception of the latter and diminish the perception of the former. I know that no fan intentionally tries to do this, but that is the effect. I think Bo is a good man and I like that he has run a clean program that turns out young men better prepared for success in the world than most NCAA coaches. These are excellent attributes. However, Bo was hired to bring our football program back to prominence, and if he is still here in ten years, we are more likely to be what Minnesota has been for the last few generations than we are to be a powerhouse program.
  11. And end up with another Callahan? No thanks. Let's keep Pelini and keep a stable, winning football program. This fanbase is so psychologically damaged.
  12. The same people that complain about Bo would have been screaming for Osborne's head in the 80s and early 90s. Do we need some changes? Sure. Let's get a new OC (one willing to bench TA). But we don't need a new HC. How do you know that to be true? Did you post on here and remember who said that? You say thigs as outlandish things as if they are facts when they are almost certain not to be 100% accurate. At least say I'm my IMO or something. We know FOR A FACT that people wanted Osborne fired for decades. The reasons included: Bowl losses Not being able to beat Oklahoma Not being able to get past X number of wins Poor decision making (going for 2, which is celebrated now) The same bullsh#t we hear now. Are you honestly going to tell me the people that want to fire Pelini for never losing more than 4 games would have supported Osborne? Stop comparing Pelini and Osbourne. There are no similarities in their coaching competencies or results.
  13. Ah, yet another manifestation of the "you are not real fans" argument. Was wondering when this innuendo would reappear. No, I am not a season ticket holder. I also do not live in Nebraska and so rarely get the opportunity to attend a game. I did, however, attend UNL for both undergrad and grad school and did have student tickets in those years. I have invested greatly in the University and I don't like seeing my alma mater's proud tradition made into a laughingstock. What is happening at Nebraska is utterly unacceptable for everything that's invested in this program, and any fan should be able to see this.
  14. If he keeps him I think he will point to Bo having 9+ wins a season and the improvements made since the BC era. Will point at the 3 conference title game appearances. Probably going to make a mention of the academic record and discipline record of Husker players under Pelini. I do want to stress that I do not believe these things, just stating what I think Eichorst may say. I personally think that something needs to change and that the current status quo is not acceptable. If Eichorst doesn't fire BO and comes out with the above as his justification, Husker Nation will consume itself. And the sellout streak, the one truly great thing we still possess, will end. Agreed. As I stated in a earlier thread SE is fortunate that the Minnesota game was the last home game of the season. Obviously the sell out streak would've still been in tact, since tickets were purchased prior to the season, but I guarantee there would've been a large amount of empty seats. I think changes will be made on the account that SE does not want to be known as the AD that saw the sell-out streak end on his watch, especially in his first few years. This is in addition to the blatantly obvious fact that Bo is less than competitive in the games that matter. For sure, I agree with every part of your post. Hypothetically, if Eichorst fails to act this year and the sellout streak ends next season, he needs to be fired too (and perhaps others as well). The sellout streak cannot be allowed to die.

  16. Thanks for the link. The author was a friend of mine growing up. Small world.

  18. Same here. What a combination that would be, and what a message that would send to recruits and the rest of FBS. It would put the rest of the country on notice that Nebraska is not playing around any more and will stop at nothing to regain its status.
  19. This is defeatist garbage. Seriously, stop parroting this crap.
