  1. Also protects candidates from having to answer questions about the open HC job at Nebraska.
  2. Correct, so if Riley gives us a potential reason to fire him for cause, which allows us to negotiate the buy out, then by all means, take advantage of situation to benefit the University. Barring that opening by Riley, there is no good reason to fire Riley now as opposed to the end of the season.
  3. Welcome GBR. I, too, am a conservative who reads quite a bit on Huskerboard, but doesn't post much. I've found that, in general, if you post respectfully, people will do likewise and treat your posts with respect. I have also found that if you come to the board more looking for a conversation, rather than an argument, you'll have a much better chance of educating people on your ideas, and will also learn from other peoples posts. Just what I've noticed since joining Huskerboard; not in any way implying that you haven't done this with your first posts.
  4. and really cringy if he realized that the photo he politely took with them ended up on Huskerboard as evidence of him coming to Nebraska
  5. I would think the upside to not firing Riley before the end of the season is it lets Moos do the job search a little more discretely and lessens the distractions for potential future coaches. Now, if any potential coach gets asked about the Nebraska job, all he has to say is "Nebraska already has a coach." That changes the instant we fire Riley. I would think potential future coaches would appreciate that.
  6. Heard the announcers during the Wis-Iowa game mention that Wisc HC, OC, DC all played for Wisconsin, mentioned something about the importance of culture......maybe we should try something like that.
  7. I think we can all agree that we should put quotes around "coach" Riley.
  8. It will be during the Iowa post game press conference. (just kidding)
  9. Luckily, I'm at work, so I haven't seen any of the game. Without watching, I'm sitting here thinking we're only down by 16, we can still win this......how's that for optimism.
  10. I just read that according to the Sacramento Bee, the California chapter of the NAACP has proposed doing away with the Star Spangled Banner as our national anthem. They believe the third verse, which is never sung, is racist.
  11. I know your question was probably rhetorical, but according to wikipedia, they do not. There are 32 countries, mostly Muslim, that use caning of some sort as punishment. I found it odd that one providence in Indonesia just recently began using caning as punishment. I figured that by the 21st century, countries would be moving away from such punishment, not towards it.
  12. Probably not popular, but science says, xy=male xx=female
  13. Yeah, It' s really groovy to idolize dictators who torture and murder their own people.
  14. Just my opinion, but Trump is the gift that will keep on giving to the Democrats. Not only will he alienate a lot of the country, the working class will end up seeing him as the fraud he is and will lump all Republicans with him, which is the Republicans fault for lining up behind him ; and conservatism will be confused with Trumpism. This saddens me greatly as a conservative/former republican.
  15. I just watched Diaco's press conference. This sure seems like what he said is being blown way out of proportion.
  16. Might want to check out Big Red Commies comment
  17. Just read that the Air Force failed to report domestic assault conviction to FBI database. Doing so would have prevented him from legally purchasing guns.
  18. If I'm not mistaken, UK makes way more money from the tourism created by the Monarchy than the Monarchy costs the taxpayer, if fact, pretty sure that's why they still exist. Not defending the sheltering of assets to avoid taxes, just pointing out why the UK still promotes and supports them.
  19. Is there a point, salary wise, where Moos wouldn't be criticized by the fan base for not hiring Frost because it was too expensive?
  20. Absolutely! And it's not my money, so I hope we do whatever is needed to get him. If it was my money, or I was the one in charge of being the steward of the money, I'd be a little uncomfortable at 10 years/$50 million when Harbaugh's contract at Michigan was, I believe, 7 years/$40 million; and he was much more established than Frost is. But, I also understand that at Frost's age, I'm sure he would continue to coach and some of the buy out would be mitigated by his salary at his next job.
  21. Good point, and at his age, I suppose a lot of the buy out would be mitigated by his salary at his next job (assuming he isn't going to Youngstown State for $200 K at year).
  22. Everyone on this board hates losing and hates poor execution; pretty sure things would go poorly if any of us were the coach. Just saying, I want Frost as much as the next person, but selecting a coach is risky, there are no guarantees.
  23. yes, but 10 years and 50 million, you're still on the hook for 20 million after 6 years, seems kind of steep.
  24. If things go poorly in the first few years, that's a lot of money to be on the hook for.
