  1. Fully understand that safety is what has led to the evolution of the helmet. However, I've also noticed that some players still wear a traditional round helmet, which I assume still meets all NCAA safety regulations. If not, how could players be wearing it? Just did a quick search and it looks like Riddel makes the "futuristic" looking helmets most players use and Schutt makes the classic round ones that some players use. If they are both authorized by the NCAA, then it would be up to the team/players. Look in this picture, player on the left wears the round one and player on the right has the weird looking Riddel speed helmet.
  2. Just a personal preference but I'm curious what others think. I really hate the new style helmets with the strange cut in the back and the one with that button looking thing on the forehead. They still make a classic round helmet and I think Nebraska helmets look better with the traditional round one. USC seems to favor the classic one as I've seen a lot of their players wearing it. Not sure why the players seem to like the space-like helmets over the football-like ones. I wish we would make a move to the round ones. Anyone else notice this or give a shite? Sorry one last off-season topic I had to get out of my system before we start taking about real stuff.
  3. Those rankings are straight up just a final 2015 ranking. Every year the "pre-season" rankings are based on the results of last year which almost never prove to mean much by week 7 anyway. There's a few in there that are trendy, like Tennessee. But Athlon sports is also based in Nashville so that might explain that one. Basically the dude who made those rankings took no risk and just reiterated the results of last year. If Nebraska gets to the 9-10 win Mark they will easily be in th top 25. 10 wins and I have them at 14. 9 wins probably more like 22.
  4. This is the most refreshing Kool-Aid I've ever had
  5. I agree with OP. I don't like it because when I see it I always think in my mind it's "Done U" as in we're "Done." NU is much easier to say in my head as an acronym.
  6. I honestly dont see this happening next year. Man it felt good watching that game against ucla. I just think that these guys are way to stuck in their way to change philosophy next season. Recruiting a pocket passer qb also tells me that a strong running game isn't in the cards next year. We will talk about the bowl game all offseason and then when week 5 rolls around we're all guna be like "what the f**k? Why are we throwing it 65% of th e time?" I really hope im wrong. But I think langsdorf gets goose bumps watching a strong passing attack--the way most husker fans feel watching a power running game. I think in his mind, he wants to show Nebraska fans how it can work and be all great and everything. But the truth is we don't want to watch Usc/Oregon/ucla hiding in Nebraska uniforms. We want NEBRASKA to play in Nebraska uniforms. Blue collar football that we can be Damn proud of. You know, the way we all felt after the foster farms bowl
  7. Red socks were awesome. Not a fan of having an 'N' on them though. Keep it nice and clean. I would actually love to see them wear just a red jersey and plain white pants, no stripes . Think Penn state but in red. much like the 2001 version
  8. Also, in regard to the Indiana game-- how is there not a better system to track a field goal kick? Like maybe some lasers and a tracker on the ball. We can make miley Cyrus appear out of nowhere, but cant figure out if a ball is on the left or right side of a pole...
  9. Seems like this year in particular has been really bad referee wise. I would expect some sort of explanation tomorrow
  10. Well luckily it didn't matter
  11. What conference did these jokers come from??
  12. I can see this being a topic in th e off-season for reconsideration
  13. That was absolutely terrible
  14. I think he's saying that with the current roster it would take 1.5 years to get to that level. Recruiting better players would potentially shorten that timeframe.
  15. And man it's fun to watch that option offense!! Just good old fashion ground game football.
  16. Hey didn't we just hire a guy to compile stats and tell the coaches where the odds fall on different plays in the playbook??? Doesn't NU pay that guy a lot of money?
  17. Enjoy your once in a blue moon season Iowa. You brought lots of fans to Lincoln to watch that 12th victory because you know it will be a while before you see that again. Carry the big 10 torch. We'll see you in Iowa city next year.
  18. It's absolutely safe around Lincoln. There aren't really any bad areas around Lincoln like there are in Omaha. Your vehicle will be safe in any of the neighborhoods near campus, but you should be able to park somewhere in the downtown area. Greatest college town in the country. Just my humble opinion though.
  19. I thought I would share this story to momentarily take your minds off the 3-5 record, and put things in perspective a little. My wife and I both went to UNL, but currently live in southern California. Last Saturday, after our game was over, we went up to USC for their game against Utah to see what the gameday experience is like at the LA Coliseum. Before the game we went to the campus bar to get some food and have a few drinks. Of course we wore our Nebraska gear, because we arent SC or Utah fans. As soon as we got inside, an older guy approached us and told us that he was at the 2007 game in Lincoln, and how it was hands down the best gameday experience he ever had. He thanked us for that and went on his way. 10 minutes later, we were sitting at a table, and another guy approached us to shake our hands and say thanks for the manner in which he was treated while in Lincoln for that game. We got to the stadium 10 minutes before kick-off, just in time to catch the pre-game stuff and the team running out on the field. I estimated approx. 35,000 people in the stadium at kick-off. It was very surprising that a game against the number 3 team in the country didnt attract a full stadium. Also, during Utahs first possession, only the student section was making any noise. Everyone else was sitting down. I think people were still trickling in at halftime, and there were still whole sections left completely empty throughout the game. I bring all this up to remind everyone how special Nebraska is. Even with a terrible record, we shouldnt lose sight of the things that make it special. If youre able to make it to most home games, consider yourself lucky, because that experience isnt replicated at every college football venue. The atmosphere in downtown Lincoln before games is top notch (except before 11am kicks maybe), the stadium is always packed, and people treat each other right. Keep it up Nebraska fans, maybe the football gods will reward us with some wins in the future.
  20. Week 7 2010 when we were at 5-0
