I don't want Erstad fired. But he did need every regular season game, plus help from other teams, to win the conference championship of the #7 conference based on RPI. The Big Ten is not a strong conference, trailing all four of the other G5 conferences, the AAC & CUSA.
He's doing just enough to get by, basically; the program is not exactly thriving yet. I am hopeful that coach learned some things from this experience, and that recruiting will be a little easier now with some hardware.
