  1. Name other coaches that are gone! I see what you did there! haha Somebody keeps putting that on about every thread, so I figured what the heck. It required no thought, no football knowledge, no Husker knowledge. and took about 3 seconds to type
  2. I think Riley learned something: On what he learned about Big Ten football "I learned in the Big Ten that I would say it's very competitive. If you want to be the champion of your division or win the conference, you're going to have to compete week-to-week and win the close games which is what championship teams have to do anyway. If you look at the score of the majority of these guys games or you look at Michigan State's games through the year, everybody has some close games. A lot of them are one score games. This ended up being a one-score game. They win them. They find that way to win them. I found it to be nicely competitive. It makes for a good league." It reads almost like Riley had no idea what B1G football was all about. Like, "I'm pleasantly surprised they play decent football here in the midwest, huh, who knew"
  3. Solich and Pelini are gone, get over it and move on.
  4. Translation: I hated Bo and had a viagra-boner for Riley...he had a crappy season and now I don't know what to do so I will pretend like this is a Bo, Frank and Dana X Bible thread. I think that's all Vitalis Jackson ever posts. He must have an auto reply in every thread that says "Bo and Frank are gone. Get over it" Braaaaaaaaack, "Bo and Frank are gone"
  5. Dammit, I can't believe I clicked on this.
  6. I am with you. MR is over 60 years old and will not change. The sellout streak is in danger. We can only hope the new chancellor cleans house. Kirk Ferentz is over 60 years old and he made a lot of changes after Iowa's 7-6 and 4-8 seasons. Yea, but Ferentz has never won a Grey Cup
  7. I voted yes, and I said I would go to a bowl, if it was nearby. It does not appear likely that the Huskers will be playing in Florida somewhere that I can get to easily, but I will watch on TV. I've been the Florida bowl games under the previous coach, who I think we;re not allowed to mention here anymore. But, I don't like the idea of any 5-7 teams going to bowls. I guess I'm a traditionalist, and I always go back to the 1982 season and the bowl schedule: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982%E2%80%9383_NCAA_football_bowl_games Alabama had the worst record of those bowl teams at 7-4, they had lost their last three, but it was Bear Bryant's last game so they went. Notre Dame was 6-4-1 and did not go to a bowl game, after losing their last three. Wow, what a difference having NBC on your side makes
  8. Once again I'd like to thank the mods for merging this thread with VA huskers so I could enjoy garbage like this. All right, all right, I'll get back on topic. Seeing Michigan State starting to pull away from Penn State, says that the winner of next week's B1G title game in Indy goes to the playoffs. If Iowa is undefeated the decision is easy, but does MSU, tOSU, or Nebraska get the New Year's Six bid?
  9. Sobering. We got Rileyed. What are you talking about?, Riley's not used to having to worry about bowl bids. Golly shucks, jeepers, this is exciting.
  10. Yep. Stalking a bunch of loser programs hoping they lose so we can get in at 5-7. Then realize that we are currently a loser program........ This is freaking hilarious. Here we sit, scoreboard watching, not to see if we can win the B1G West, not to see if we can move up in the rankings with some well-placed losses above us. No, we are sweating out trying to be one of the top 80, yes 80 teams will get a bowl invite. Almost 2/3 of every university playing football will receive an invitation to play in an exhibition game in front of a handful of friends and family. And, we are scoreboard watching the Old Dominion's, Georgia State's, South Alabama's of the world. Talk about having this baby going in the right direction.
  11. 80 teams are going to bowls, and we are sweating out the opportunity to go to one as a 5-7 team. Damn, this program is right where we want it. Ready to take that next step.
  12. I learned that this was what, the 8,000th time I have seen Nebraska have two straight false start penalties (in the first quarter) I almost threw my phone out the window of my car as I was watching on the way home. I learned my wife has quicker hands than I thought as she grabbed the phone and steering wheel at the same time to avoid certain disaster.
  13. Serious question. Not being a smart ass. Why do they deserve a bowl game? Because they've been here 4 years? Because why? I hate to be hard on them but they haven't earned and don't deserve anything. A lot of that is on the coaches but a lot of it is on unmotivated play of the players. Sorry but I don't want to see this edition of the Huskers on the field again. We need to concentrate on getting a better version on the field next year. Much better. So many people on HB laughed and scoffed when, in seasons past, a 5-7 team made it to a bowl game. Some were pissed. Now that WE are the 5-7 team, it's a great idea to go to a bowl game. My vote is no. We didn't earn it. Everyone needs to get past whether it is earned or not, what really matters is what is best for the team to make 2016 better. Reality is that going to a bowl game allows the team 15 additional practices, which is the same a Spring Ball. That is huge, so get over the other aspects and get on board for a 5-7 team going to a bowl game. I'd say that the less time this staff has to poison the players, the better. Right, we've watched the staff and this team do the same kind of crap for twelve weeks now, why would it suddenly change because we are going to a bowl?
  14. I really feel bad ragging on a guy so much, because the truth is, they put in quite a bit of time, sacrifice a lot of time away from families, all to win some football games. But, by the same token, this is their chosen profession, so they know all of this criticism going in. That entire staff has made as much money as I will teaching for many, many years. So, I guess it is ok to question their records, their decision making etc. This was a poor decision by Eichorst and the sooner it is fixed the better.
  15. It was obviously NOT effective. If we run the same offense that we did against MSU, there are sure as sh#t fewer interceptions. What coach in their right mind, with the crappy weather we had today, runs a throw heavy scheme? Langs' two pass heavy days were in the cruddiest weather. Good thing the weather wasn't like Oklahoma 1991, Langs would have thrown 65 times
  16. We were 5-6 going in, and 5-7 coming out. Wasn't like a win was going to make us B1G West champs, was it? We learned all we needed to learn by game 9.
  17. And shouldn't a game plan highlight your players' strengths and your opponents's weaknesses

  19. count me in as a pouty baby, but I'll be watching the NHL
  20. To be fair, it actually started when Harvey went rogue, hired Pederhorst singlehandedly and forced Dr. Tom to retire. oh, either way, yea, well, here we sit
  21. Even Callahan couldn't do it. Way to go, Riley, way to go......clap, clap Way to go, Riley, way to go.....clap, clap
  22. We can start with winning more than 6 games in the regular season. Hell, 6 would be an improvement
