  1. Diaco sucks, who can we steal? +1 to you sir
  2. Welp, we're all in agreement that Diaco was a failure. Who are we going to hire for the next DC? Wait, too soon?
  3. So about that... Why don't we wait to hear from the new DC what scheme he is going to run before we hit the panic button. Sound fair?
  4. Coming from someone who thinks PJ Fleck is the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi I feel instantly better about Diaco. Good to know that we now have 100% clarity on what a successful DC hire needs to have. Has I am GLORIOUS heard of you? check all that apply [ ] Yes [ ] No [ ] Who's I am GLORIOUS [ ] No need to keep going, I know I'm not getting the job now
  5. This may be a first, but I agree with you LOMS. I don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling from him. I am pretty good at reading people, and he seems a little too much into himself. I dunno if that's a good reason to bash a guy. .Recruiting is essentially a high stakes sales job. If you don't exude buckets of confidence and are in any way unsure of yourself elite prospects and their parents will see right through you. We aren't saving the manatees here. I'll never begrudge a coach for being cocky (speaking as a cocky sales rep myself). Heck if I were Bob Diaco I'd be pretty cocky too. Good looking young guy killing it in his chosen profession.
  6. Didn't realize that. I figured it was the Jeremy Pruitt show.
  7. The more I think about it, the more I hope it becomes a Co-DC scenario (with Bray being the other guy)...I'll use Tosh since that's a name being thrown around. If you can somehow finangle a Co-DC team with Bray and Tosh you allow both guys to get a promotion (and more money) plus you can protect your backside when one of them inevitably leaves and you've secured a monster recruiter. We're already seeing Bray fielding calls for DC jobs. If Nebraska doesn't promote him, next year is probably his last year assuming Bray fulfills his end of the bargain.
  8. I am ok with paying over $1M but never for Diaco. If it was Venables or Aranda I would as they have consistenly shown results. Diaco had one strong year and the rest was mediocre or worse.People you've mentioned already make north of a million on proven teams. Why would they leave. You've got to be realistic. I get that and am the one to originally post their salaries, but they are making that much because they have consistently (keyword here) delivered great results. Diaco is nowhere near their level and would not deserve 7 figures It's not about what you deserve, it's about what the market dictates and it appears that the market for Diaco is $1mm+
  9. Couldn't agree more. Nebraska hires a big name for a big dollar figure, "Why would Nebraska pay *fill in the amount* for this guy, he sucks we should've gotten Dave Aranda" even though Dave Aranda is going to be making almost TWO MILLION dollars per year staring next year. If Nebraska hires a more under the radar guy, "JFC not this again I had to Google this guy and I've never heard of him we should've gotten Dave Aranda" even though a large segment of HB members only follow Nebraska and ex-Nebraska coaches so they aren't really up to speed on who's hot and who's not when it comes to coaches.
  10. Gotta see what his wife looks like before making a decision ala James Franklin. NU can't be hiring any guys who don't have hot wives from now on.
  11. Yeah, he's a good player. Wish his dad went somewhere else haha.
  12. Agreed. Don't get me wrong, Tosh is a super elite recruiter and Nebraska would be thrilled to get his services. That being said, he's never been a DC. Do you run the risk of alienated your current staff if you back up the truck for a guy that hasn't done the job. I'm just wondering if Nebraska shouldn't hire someone that has recruiting ties somewhere other than the West Coast. Diaco, for all his apparent flaws is a a Big Ten guy (played at Iowa).
  13. Would be an amazing hire. Although some husker fans probably wouldn't like it. I generally would not want someone that doesn't have full DC experience, but if we took one person not in the role, this would be the guy. He is young and energetic and has excelled in some great programs. I would take him over Diaco anytime. And there is this...apparently Wilcox, the new Cal coach, is pushing hard to get Tosh to be his DC. That would be a great duo and would hurt our Calibraska recruiting efforts as we would have to compete with Cal on top of USC and UCLA and Stanford. http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/cal-football-head-coach-search/2017/1/12/14259798/tosh-lupoi-justin-wilcox-california-golden-bears-defensive-coordinator-rumor And Oregon and every other team on the West Coast.
  14. I'm with ColoradoHusk here. I assume McShane will get a promotion. I get there is a science/madness to social media but there must be thousands of guys out there that are good at both social media and want to be involved in recruiting. We're not talking about rocket science here.
  15. I thought of Geoff Collins too but I think he just became the Temple HC. Ahh, you are correct sir. Bummer.
  16. Dream Hire would be Don Brown, Michigan's D Coordinator that was at BC for a ton of years. Nasty, nasty defense. I love me some Bob Shoop or Geoff Collins too. Not shocking hire would be someone like Clancy Pendergast who has been a mixed NFL and college D Coordinator that is currently at USC. I've seen Tosh Lupoi mentioned who would be a fireball recruiter. Alot depends on if Justin Wilcox gets the Cal job. Wilcox probably takes Lupoi with him which means NU might be able to snag Peter Sirmon who has been with Wilcox for a quite a while as a LB coach @ USC, UW and Tennessee.
  17. That's it national writers...need some clicks once the slow season. Whaddya say boys, time for the annual let's make Nebraska great again article...those Christmas credit card bills aren't going to pay themselves!
  18. You don't understand how things work very well do you? Riley just went 9-4, we aren't firing him to hire Chip Kelly or Les Miles and ESPECIALLY not Jim Tressel. And guess what? You have made your opinion of the current staff plenty clear. You can stop forcing it down everyones throats and discuss the topics at hand. Never said anything about firing him, because I don't see that happening, even if we go sub .500 next year. I'm just saying that we're going nowhere fast and each subpar season sets us back further. Dynamite take Captain Obvious.
  19. Nebraska is deficient in a lot of areas, I'm not sure the kicking/punting game is one of them. Nebraska has had a pretty good run of specialists over the past 10 years.. Drew Brown Sam Foltz Brett Maher Alex Henery Pat Smith
  20. Nebraska is the top spender in the Big Ten when it comes to recruiting. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/husker-football-top-spender-in-growing-big-ten-recruiting-expenses/article_734471e2-2bfe-11e6-ace5-ffc6461ab7a2.html
  21. I'll be curious to see if Fleck's shtick translates to a P5 job.
  22. LOL dude we'll be lucky to finish .500 next year Which banned poster are you again? It's hard to keep track.
  23. Stanford with quite the haul. Top 2 OTs, top TE, top QB. Not too shabby.
  24. Dude you need to get some composure. Your first post in this thread, just like it is in any thread I've seen you post in such as Newby concerned threads, are very hostile to a good amount of Nebraska fans (i.e. Some of your audience). You don't have to be such an offensive flame out. (No, I'm not even going to touch upon your downward spiral in this thread.) So a good amount of Nebraska fans are whiny, entitled armchair QBs? That's what Blitz is getting at. It's good that comes across hostile to those types of fans because they frankly suck. That being said, they have every right to voice their opinion just like I have every right to tell them where to stick said opinion.
