  1. Wow, you will spin anything. Let's face it...Trump took a risk and it's paying off big-time. Hillary and many in the media were predicting this trip would be a disaster for him, and it was a success. First, he beat Hillary to it (as he did in Louisiana) by accepting the invitation. Second, he appeared on the world stage and showed statesmenship and that he is "Presidential" which completely refutes Hillary's argument that nobody can imagine him as President. On top of that, it sounds like he and the Mexican President had good discussions on immigration, guns, and trade. Meanwhile, Hillary still has not given a press conference in 270 days, and has spent most of her time raising money and taking it easy. The imagery of Trump working his butt off going all over the country represents what he has done all his life...work hard, and if your opponent is still winning, work even harder. Wow....that post was impressive. Pretty much checked off each Trump talking point
  2. Wow, I'm not sure what is more surprising...that those who hate Trump have nothing positive to say, or that you would post their responses here as though it matters. As this is any different than your links and videos about Hillary?
  3. Any question Trump and his surrogates would be killing Hillary if she did this w/o an American flag in the background?
  4. The Great Negotiator went to Mexico and talked to their president and didn't even bring up paying for the wall.
  5. Curious to see what tweet goes out after Trump is done speaking with the Mexican president. Will he: 1) Tweet a picture of him eating a taco on his plane saying "Trump loves Mexicans" 2) Tweet a picture of him holding a big cardboard prize check to pay for the wall 3) Tweet an insult at the Mexican president with some catchy nickname 4) All of the above
  6. I love how "crazy uncle email conspiracies" are now commonplace. Thanks Obama!
  7. I forget. Are we pro or con blackshirts being handed out before the first game?
  8. Roster should look like that going into next year. Still think we need another TE. You forgot Allen (he's still projecting to TE, right?). But if he's sitting out all of this year then slim chance he contributes next year. I think a ready to play Juco or grad transfer TE will be needed in a bad way.
  9. If you go by All-Conference, All-Americans and Lombardi and Outland Award winners than yeah, Osborne had a pretty good run with dominating offensive lines. It also showed in their dominating run offense, which was not achieved simply by running the ball a lot, but by recruiting specifically for a rushing offense. Nebraska was a destination for offensive linemen. But it hardly happened overnight. Really not sure what you're disagreeing with here. And "average defense?" Don't know about that, either. Nebraska's defense made a huge difference during our 40 year run of excellence. I'm not sure what teams you are choosing to remember, but great Nebraska defenses gave up only 8.0 points a game while the lesser Nebraska defenses still gave up only 14 points a game. Compare that to the 26+ ppg Nebraska defenses have given up in recent years and you can appreciate the difference that makes in the offense you run and the games you don't win. Guy to many people don't recall when Osborne's teams struggled. They only remember when his teams were doing well. I admit, there is a lot of good to remember but it wasn't all roses all the time either. Osborne finished on an incredible 5-year run. Fans tend to forget the 7-consecutive bowl losses and the offense struggling or getting shutdown by good teams through the late 80's and early nineties. All they have to do is watch the 1990 Fiesta Bowl vs Florida St. 41-10 final score. I'll up the ante with the 1992 Orange Bowl, a 22-0 loss. 9 first downs 38 rushes for 82 yards (2.2 ypc) 7/19 passing for 89 yards (4.7 ypa) 57 plays for 171 total yards (3.0 ypp)
  10. He seemed to be so close to pulling the trigger late spring/early summer. Hopefully the OV can remind him of what he loved about us then.
  11. With Leitao, we're done at TE, right?
  12. Mav, I see where you are coming from, I just don't fully agree. Personally, I think that Sam is the best beat writer following Nebraska. I think he gives the best insight to the team and tends to find some interesting stats. But I agree that he can be annoying when he goes on his twitter rants, and he does project himself as "better than" a lot of things. If he gets to you that much, unfollow him. All of the writers (Sam, Jon, Brian, etc) basically tweet the same thing and retweet each other, so you wouldn't be missing much not having him on your timeline. And you would have one little bit of annoyance removed from your day. Correct, he doesn't like Bo. But I don't think that any of the beat writers do after dealing with him for 7 years. Does he take it to the extreme sometime? Probably. But I'm sure Riley is a breath of fresh air for him (and all the writers). I agree that Sam does like to beat the talent drum, but that 20-30 talent range that we sit in has got us results in the same 20-30 end of year rankings range (except for last year, and we all hope that was a 1 year aberration). But if Riley continues to pull in classes that are in the 20s, we are continuing to lose 3 conference games, and not seeing any conference championships, then I would think that you'll see Sam keep beating that drum no matter the coach.
  13. Maybe because we have been? 5-3 7-1 5-3 5-3 3-5 Do you think that we haven't been? 2011 we were third out of six in the Legends division (Michigan, Michigan State) 2012 we won the Legends division 2013 we were third in the Legends division (Michigan State, Iowa) 2014 we were third of seven in the West division (Wisconsin, Minnesota) 2015 we were fourth of seven in the West division (Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin) That's pretty middle-of-the-road. 2013 and 2014 we were tied for second, though we did lose the tie-breaker. But even that is a first and three thirds from 11-14. Wisconsin is better at 1-1-2-3. Iowa is 2-4-4-5. Northwestern is 3-5-5-6. Minnesota is 2-4-6-6. So we've easily been the second best team in the division over the first four years of that time-frame, which is definitely not middle-of-the-road. From 2011-2014, we were 13-7 which is winning 65% of the games. That's not great but that's not middle of the road. It's only when you add in last year's 1-5 (16%) in there that it drags the overall average down to 53.8%. From 11-14, Wisconsin was the class of the division at 18-2. Iowa was 9-9. Minnesota was 10-12. Northwestern was 8-11. So, again, we were easily the second best team in the West. In fact, only two schools were over .500 in the conference. Not great, but definitely not middle-of-the-road. So the only reason to include last year's dismal results into the mix is to try to make people think we've been worse than we have by the way he presents the numbers. If you are going to exclude 15 (3-5) because it was an outlier, then you probably should exclude 12 (7-1) as well. I'm not excluding 2015 because it's an outlier. I'm saying Sam is lumping it in with the other years to make the whole group look worse because he hates Bo and loves Riley. Or Sam is just stating a fact? Not everything is a Bo vs Riley deal.

  15. Had my 12 team PPR auction ($200 cap) draft last night. Love my team QB: Luck $9 RB: Ingram $32, Woodhead $25 (Duke Johnson $10, DeAndre Washington $3, Spiller $1, Devonte Booker $1) WR: Green $46, Allen $38, Decker $20 (Michael Thomas $4, Steve Smith $3, Terrance Williams $1) TE: Gates $2 (Martellus Bennett $3) K: Catenzaro $1 D: LA Rams $1
  16. How do we know sentence 1? Has he said that? Would canning Riley after year 1 been "demanding greatness"? I mean he didn't extend Miles contact this year after 2 mediocre to bad years. About sentence 2, Osborne the AD was suspiciously absent from any criticism in that article.
  17. Agree with some of it, disagree with some of it. I also tend to find Lee's commentary interesting and don't get to bent out of shape about what he (or Dirk) writes.

  19. If he's playing, I'm guessing he's jumped Wilbon for #3 on the depth chart.
  20. Good get. We can add another "famous father" to the list. His dad is Dave Leitao, current DePaul basketball HC. He also was HC at Virginia a few years back.
