  1. Well said. I don't agree with everything you wrote, but I do agree with the majority of it.
  2. That is a sad, sad play. It's just painful to watch. He just had backside contain on that play...
  3. Actually, no, not a total failure, considering Stoops won a NC with his kids, and Oklahoma's recruiting had gone down the toilet (relatively speaking) under Gibbs. And Schellenberger pretty much amounted into a lost year of recruiting for the program. No, Blake wasn't a great head coach at all. But he was a hell of a recruiter, and had he brought on a competent OC and DC...well, then it may have been his NC and not Stoops'. 12-22 over 3 years. That is a total failure to me. Sure he brought in some good recruits (using questionable methods), but his job was the coach them. And he did a terrible job doing that. And bringing on a competent OC and DC is part of the job of being a head coach (see Nebraska right now). In his last season (I think), he was so clueless that he had OU switch to a wishbone offense IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON! Who does that?
  4. And then they tried to go "back to tradition" by hiring a former player (who had 9 total years of coaching experience) and he was a total failure.
  5. That was Carl. And it was a big $ booster's daughter in law.
  6. If you can't see a lack of effort, then I don't know what to tell you. Those 2 or 3 offsides in a row on the kicks? Thats not coaching. That's a total lack of concentration/effort. They said the Purdue long snapper was calling a cadence then moving the ball. Basically he was getting away with a false start. Pretty much the same thing as Michigan State was doing last year, just from the other side of the ball. Then why the hell weren't they going to the ref and pointing it out? I didn't hear that. I'm guessing someone got in the refs ear as that's why we didn't see it again after the 1Q.
  7. Speaking of effort, I need to give Alex Lewis props for chasing down and saving a TD on the bad snap fumble.

  9. First off, I like and respect Richt a lot. I was raised in Georgia and only really became a fan of the program when he took over. But, to think his recruiting will translate to Nebraska is crazy. He is not going to be pulling 5 star guys to Nebraska. His recruiting job couldn't be any easier then it currently is. He has to convince players to basically play for a top SEC program that is close to their home and families. If he leaves, those players will end up at Auburn or Florida or Alabama or with his successor at UGA. In my opinion a coach that is going to recruit well at Nebraska would need the connections in either Texas or Ohio, sort of like the guy at Houston Bingo. I saw yesterday on Andy Staples twitter that Georgia produces the 3rd most D1 FB players behind Texas and Florida (and ahead of California).
  10. Benning still calling out effort today. But is also calling out the coaches for a bad game plan, not having "tough" enough practices, and not having any consequences for poor play.
  11. Yes to all by Orgeron. His time a Ole Miss was a disaster (10-25 overall, 3-21 in conference).
  12. He might be an NFL caliber athlete but he's not an NFL caliber football player. With decent coaching he would've been. He was definitely on the right trajectory prior to this year. at least he got exposed as someone who cant adapt to a new defense before someone wasted a pick on him Hahahahahahaha Hahahahaahahahahahaahahaha No one has been able to adapt to a Baker defense during his career, apparently. F you and fans like you who would drag a kid like Gerry through the mud to further your apologist agenda.
  13. Yes. Basically all coaches have at least a 5 year contract. Some even have it written into their contract that it automatically gets extended. Now if they were able to extend him while lowering his buyout, then we might be on to something...
  14. 1. USC 2a. Miami 2b. South Carolina 3. Nebraska 4-11. The rest Might be adding Texas onto that list. I would almost put VT ahead of us just for the fact that their program has been solid and basically unchanged for a long time and it might be appealing to a coach. I do think that Bud Foster will take over for Beamer though. I think that I would put VT ahead of us. A lot of talent in the Hampton Roads area.
  15. Richt vs Meyer 1-5 average score of 32-21 Richt vs Miles 3-2 average score of 31-31 Richt vs Saban 2-5 (1-2 vs LSU, 1-3 vs Alabama) average score of 29-23 *hasn't beat Saban since his 1st year at Alabama in 2007 when Alabama went 7-6. Has lost the last 3 by an average of 37-23
  16. I read the article and without seeing it in comparison to teams across the country, it doesn't mean as much. What's the scale being used? For instance, if Ohio State is a 5.9, and UCF is a 5.0, the spread is small, and it's not as close as it appears. The scale is how each service ranks the players Rivals 247
  17. No, they aren't. Or, if you want to use that jacked up methodology, so is Mich St. And so was NU most of the previous 10 to 15 years. This is what the Rivals and 247 data churns out. If you want to invent your own methodology, then go right ahead. Is it perfect? No. But it is two data points.
  18. From the thread about B1G West talent last week We are basically even with Purdue on the 2 deep http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/77151-unsportsmanlike-conduct20151027how-talented-is-nebraska/
  19. For those pushing Mark Richt, I did a little research on him this afternoon. I thought he would have been a good hire when we got rid of Frank, Cally, or Bo. (I never thought we could have got him, but that's a different discussion.) But looking a little deeper he may have some flaws. Richt's 2nd half of his tenure at UGA kinda mirrors the 2nd half of Riley's tenure at OSU. Sure he wins more than Riley, but there is a clear drop in performance when comparing to his first handful of years. And the SEC East has been a pretty down the last couple years (see Mizzou winning the East in 13 and 14). Mark Richt 1st 8 years at UGA (2001-2008) 82-22 (.788) overall record 46-18 (.719) conference record finished in the top 23 every year 2 conference championships Mark Richt Last 7 years at UGA (2009-2015) 59-29 (.670) overall record 35-19 (.648) SEC record finished in the top 25 3 out of 6 years (and unranked as of right now) 0 conference championships Mike Riley 1st 7 years of 2nd stint and OSU (2003-2009) 56-33 (.629) overall record 37-23 (.612) conference record finished in the top 25 3 of 7 years Mike Riley last 5 years of 2nd stint at OSU (2010-2014) 29-33 (.468) overall record 19-26 (.422) conference record finished in the top 25 1 of 5 years
  20. Kinda reminds me of a guy named "cm king" from Huskerpedia a few years back. Same guy.
  21. I am not sure what you mean. Does Tommy like the all white away uniforms? Why is he a known white pants guy? I hadn't heard this before. By the way. My favorite uniform is red pants with two stripes and tear away jerseys. "I think thats one of the great things that weve got: wearing all white, Armstrong said. Those guys love it. I love it myself. http://m.omaha.com/huskers/chatelain-an-ode-to-huskers-missing-pants-and-magic-moments/article_3950647a-d371-5ea2-8bb4-5489a494e478.html?mode=jqm
