  1. From what I've seen so far I'd grade the offense at a high B, the defense at a high C, and special teams at a low C. I don't have many concerns on offense other than line inconsistency and TA's decision making (at times). I do think that TA appears to be improved in that area from last year, but the opposition hasn't been very good to this point so it is hard to say. Defensively, I think we've looked quite a bit better than last year, but again it has been against lessor opponents - I am concerned that Oregon will be able to pick apart our secondary, at least at times. Right now I'd expect us to have to score 40 to get the win. We will likely have to have a very clean game. Special teams... generally not very good. Kickoff returns have been ok, and I think our coverage has been ok, but punting has suffered and punt returns have been completely nonexistent.

Sigh. He tweeted again that the boom! was for his newly born daughter. Congrats to him and his family.

  3. Did you like the product on the field last year? Sorry, but they are deserving of a little poop until they can prove they're better than a just over .500 (lifetime) coaching staff. I like the staff as people, and for being such great ambassadors, and have nothing but respect for the way they've held the team together during some really adverse times this past month, but not so much beyond that. I think there is probably a more appropriate thread for a debating the pros and cons of the coaching staff. Just sayin.
  4. So what do you all think about this? Is the punishment appropriate given the infraction? I'm on the fence about it. I love KW. I love what he brings to the table in terms of being able to recruit, to coach, and how he has represented the University in a manner which placed Nebraska very much on the map. But this last DUI seriously cuts into the latter. That professional swagger factor suffered a serious blow, and opened the door for people to rightly question his ability to be a mentor to these young men, and as an extension the ability of the Nebraska football program in general to be so. I hope this response from the university will in time allow the current cloud to dissipate while holding him accountable to his family, to his players, and to himself, so all can move positively beyond it. I'm not completely convinced at this point, but I do hope that will be the case. We'll see.
  5. Was in response to to Keyshawn Jr. tweeting "Need to get back in Lincoln ASAP"
  6. Is this his first time in pads, every? Do you believe he just came into practice without throwing the football since last year? No, obviously not. But it was a small sample size. See what he does over the next couple of times out. If his completion rate is still less than 50% with a 25% interception rate, I'll be concerned. But not after eight attempts.
  7. I'd be much more interested in what he does the 2nd and 3rd time in full pads. I'm not too concerned about the first time out.
  8. I was not at all sold when Riley was hired, but I think he has shown exactly the type of leadership the program needed. While I do carry concerns about the wins and losses, as of right now I am content to sit back and observe how the next couple of years play out.
  9. I'm definitely lovin' that - he can come back anytime!
  10. Why would we need to be? An 18-year-old vs a 5th year senior? That's quite a head start regardless of a young player's potential. Plus, people are so concerned about someone having playing experience (regardless of how substantial or meaningful it is), Tanner Lee has plenty of it. If I had to place money on it, I'd bet Lee is the 2017 starter. dude,if a walk on AND a transfer keep POB on the bench, we got fooled big time! First off, if you're referring to Fyfe as a walk on, he is on a scholarship. Furthermore, he is graduating this year and won't be a part of next year's battle. Second, that "transfer" QB has 19 starts under his belt and will be eligible to play two years at Nebraska. Why is it somehow Earth shattering if he beats out POB? I have not seen one article or evaluation of POB that suggests he is the second coming of Peyton Manning, I thought Tanner only has one year of eligibility left (after sitting out this year). Does he have two?
  11. Who this be?Probably means he had a kid. NOPE, definitely not the case! GET EXCITED BOYS!
  12. Boom - Roberts is N!

  13. I trust that the coaches will do what it is right. There's a lot of time for evaluation of and growth for the QBs between now and September.
  14. Depending on how quickly he progresses we could see him in mop up duty this year. That's possible. However, I'm not for putting pressure on him to need to see playing time this year. I would be perfectly fine with him redshirting and then make a debut in 2017. Normally, that is how it should probably go. In reality, though, our only quarterback choices for the 2017 season are POB, Bush, Tanner Lee (not yet on campus), and Gebbia (still in high school). While we seem to be loaded up pretty well in QB raw talent for 2017, lack of experience will be a major concern. Given that, I think it would be best if POB did not redshirt. That assumes that he is able to pick up the offense and perform reasonably well, though. Time will tell.
  15. Or he could have just listened and followed the directions that were told to him. Even if the coaches insisted on the safe dump pass first and a scramble only if necessary, it's a reasonable call that many successful coaches have made in their careers. Like every call, it's much better when it works. +1
  16. If everybody stays relatively healthy, I suspect you are right, but given that Darlington has been moved to WR and POB is still largely unproven, we don't have much depth at QB.
  17. I didn't mean to slight Armstrong with my comment - I'm glad he's ours. Filler-up and bring on Spring Football!
  18. Wait, you have another anti-Nebraska feeling? WOW, color me surprised! Now, now, don't go pokin' the goat. He's been in a much better mood since recruiting picked up.
  19. I hate to see him go, but I wish him well.
