  1. Oh, it is all correct and it is looking like we could have between a #15 - #20 finish, that would be quite an improvement from the last 7 years. Many will be shocked and surprised by the upgrade on talent that is coming this year and next. BTW, I meant Frost, but I believe Crouch was recruited by Oz.
  2. Higher quality athletes than the last coach brought in with a few exceptions I'm sure, and I don't expect a half dozen left over to just hand out to walkons. Oz only gave one or two a year if they really deserved it. Bo handed them out like candy because he was lazy and he couldn't finish. Riley is already changing that.
  3. This was pretty much a throw away year for Riley. Find out who wants to play for you and who doesn't. What do you have for talent in the youngsters and then start plugging the holes with JUCO's and highschoolers. I think the evaluation is done, some will leave and our future will start to take shape next year. There is talk of us having to turn away talent, its been a longtime since that has happened. The future looks bright.
  4. Wonder if he will feel the same when he gets benched.
  5. Bill Callahan said it in 2004 after he ended our streak of 35 straight bowl games. On a positive note, it looks like we are going to have the our best recruiting class since Callahan left.
  6. Honestly, I thought your post was referring to those whining about "us against the world." Some Husker fans are incredibly thin skinned... apparently needing to be coddled by the very players they try desperately to live vicariously through. That is what is truly sad. As far as the stands during a big win, how about the times the stadium has emptied early? Or boos have rained down. And before we feel to special, Michigan, Texas, Florida and other programs that suffered through awful seasons kept their stadiums packed, too. Michigan stadium was half empty most of last year The year that they were 3rd in the country in attendance and averaged 103k per game? http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2014/12/michigan_football_season_atten.html They did not sell out and many that bought tickets, did not attend. There were big areas of empty seats last year.
  7. It's challenging for any person to see the better side of "the most critical fans" when they hop on Twitter and vehemently insult them. I think a lot of people would struggle with that. He just has to do his best to ignore it all. It's really the only way to go about it. It's difficult and near impossible to block it all out, but when you sign up to be a college football player, it's what you gotta do. All the more reason players should be banned from social media during the season. Some coaches do it, all should. Maybe idiot fans should be banned instead...maybe people shouldn't tell players to "die" or "transfer" or "get hurt" Agreed that is really out of line and no fan should contact any player. All the more reason to force the players away from it during the season.

  9. (we all remember how Eichorst mishandled the slightly important interview process after they let Bo go) And just how was that? He forgot to look up Riley's w/l record on wikipedia. I'm quite sure he knew everything about MR before the interview and liked what knew. I do to. don't mind a few growing pains to achieve greater things. Patience grasshopper.

  12. That, you would hope is what he meant, but I really doubt it.
  13. No need to rehash this again, but Frank sent the program on a downward spiral that we have never recovered from. It started when he ran out of Osborne recruits. He went 7-7 and the next year, even though they had a winning recored, it was smoke and mirrors. They never beat a team that season with a winning record. The rest is history.
  14. Solich was a horrible head coach and worse recruiter. He started the downward spiral of Husker football. Part of it is Osborne's fault for picking him as the head coach instead of letting the AD do a real search.
  15. That has yet to be proven at a elite power 5 school, but there is promise.
  16. Remember, he is a Pac 12 guy, just like Riley Except Frosty believes in a strong running game. I think our coaches do to if only we had a line and running backs to do it with.we have the running backs and o-line, we just choose to run Newby up the gut instead of having him go outside. Then when it never works, we throw it the rest of the game. Our O-line is barely MAC quality and we do not have a running back that could start for any top 20 team.I'm starting to understand why people say you're only here to troll... I do not troll, I have an opinion just like everyone else. I wouldn't say that your opinion is just like everyone elses.... Hope not, I am not into group think like most of the rest of you but that is what makes it fun, doesn't it?
  17. It's not "just" that it didn't work under Callahan. Tom Osborne directly "advised" Riley that it was important to be able to run the ball. Osborne "might" have some insight into the matter. And it doesn't help that the only three losing seasons in modern Husker football history have been recorded by Callahan and Riley. But they came right after Solich and Bo were fired. Two of the worst recruiters in the history of Nebraska football. Hard to win until you can get the talent back. Now you're making both Pelini and Solich look like Lombardi. Well to be fair to Lombardi, he did win championships. the other guys, eh not so much, I'd be cautious of that rebuttal with Riley's collegiate resume. Well, Lombardi is dead, Bo and Frank will never win one so only Riley has a legit shot at it.

  20. Nebraska will never be a mostly running team ever again but we will run to the best of our talent.

You're making Pelini look like Lombardi with some of your comments. Ameer made a poor line look average. He is gone with no one of his talent left on the team.
  23. 6-7 or 5-8, really no difference in the big picture. Get some practice in a get the team ready for a run next season.
  24. Its always good to leave a tip, but if the service is crappy, make sure it is really small so they get the point.
