  1. You ALWAYS have the ability to make your own choices. I have told my own kids that serving a mission will be a great addition to your life, but if YOU don't want to go then please don't. I don't think it was ever mandatory, but long ago a leader (or prophet himself) would show up on your doorstep and say that you have a calling to go preach in part xxx, yyyy of the world. Under these circumstances you probably had a hard time saying no. Some did, most didn't. Today if you want to serve you need to fill out paperwork, schedule several interviews, and upon the recommendations from those interviews your application will be formally sent in. Then you choose to accept a call to server wherever they tell you to, and then pay for it ALL yourself. There are some today who pressure their kids to go and serve despite their willingness or conviction. I think those days are slowly closing however. Another way to state it - Salvation is NOT dependent on serving as a missionary.
  2. Serving as a LDS Missionary is VOLUNTARY! It is encouraged as it can change you DRAMATICALLY for the better. I wouldn't have traded my 2 years in Fiji for anything...except Mrs. The Mean Farmer! Back in my 20s I witnessed a couple of acquaintances have their athletic careers destroyed by serving. And they were OK with that. Depending on where you go there aren't such things as weight rooms, time to devote to them, balls to throw, coaching etc.. Imagine the changes in nutrition if you serve in a 3rd world country!
  3. Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Hawaiian or other? I'm guessing Samoan. I'm just curious.
  4. Never need to play Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa State, Colorado, or Kansas State again. I'm over that. Move on.
  5. +2 wins per year until we get to 9+ every year. Be competent on the field.
  6. I can't see a way he and his staff weren't fired at the end of this season. But this isn't the way I wanted this to go. I wanted you to be the Tom Osborne of the 2000s. Instead I can't decide whether I am pissed about what happens on the field, ecstatic that your tenure is over, or confused at how it went down. Either way God Speed in your new life. I hope you are a Husker fan for life. TMF.
  7. And they are correct. I know it, and the proof is on the field. It hurt to type that.
  8. Scott Frost IS the ONLY answer...that will appease the Husker fan masses. As of today, Scott Frost is going to be a home run hire for any school. But Nebraska will be WAY more butt-hurt about not getting him than any other school. Remember however, there is a toxic culture in Lincoln that has to be purged. It has been festering for close to 20 years and has poisoned the well. This is about the Administration, Athletic Department and its staff, Coaches, culture, and players. Not just one coach. I am VERY hopeful that Bill Moos can become the Bob Devaney of this era. He needs to be, or we are going to become Kansas in football.
  9. The 'ROOT' of the problem. Lets talk about that for a second before you point just one finger. The PROBLEM(s) at Nebraska are FAR more vast than the current state of S&C. Shall we review? Tom Osborne retires (way too early IMHO) Coaches don't respect Frank Solich Eric Crouch cover up how fast the team was slipping Steve Pederson Not giving Frank and Bo a chance to see what they could do Bill Callahan Kevin Cosgrove 70-10 Bo's hiring Bo's tirades Bo's disdain for the media Bo's recruiting prowess 45-14 - 2007 Marvin Sanders being stupid Eichorst Riley Banker Purdue 2015 Illinois 2015 ... It list is not even close to complete!!!! During this time how many changes have we had in: Offensive Schemes Defensive schemes Starting QBs Culture shifts Compare this to a list of Nebraska's successes over the past 20 years Nebraska's football team in 2017 is the collection of colossal failures that have been 20 years in the making. There is not a single point of failure...but the entire thing has to be scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up.
  10. Apparently we need to worry far more about the administration than about assistant coaches.
  11. I'll give props to Justin Jackson. Fantastic cut back and run... And NU sucks at football
  12. Enjoy the HELL out of it. You don't NEED to rub it in, but you can...and that doesn't suck!
  13. Some individuals have some good moments. But no group is consistently good outside of punts. Couple more good plays may give us a chance inspite of ourselves.
  14. Good Lord, batted down pass on 3rd down for NU? WTH??
  15. ROCK BOTTOM. PSU will kill us. NW will beat us up, Minnesota and Iowa will out muscle us, but this is the worst it can get. Can score as much as a TD against Purdue and get out muscled, coached, played, and hearted. SOOOO Ugly.
  16. I have officially NEVER seen Husker football this bad. Imagine a Mike Leech TTU team going up against this? They may go triple digits. Seriously.
  17. Huskers driving! Time to piss it all away to a Field Goal try.
  18. I'd take Forrest Gump at this point. Maybe Bobby Bouche
  19. Cosgrove and Pedersen helped to tank Callahan. No one is doing their job with Riley.
