  1. Every time we run outside we get yards. Every. Time. They are slow to the edge- get the freakin ball out there!
  2. this is a great get for Utah. Best of luck Jaylon
  3. Todd McShane just retweeted this for some reason
  4. Came across this on twitter and thought it was worth sharing. There is phenomenal insight into the Big 12 meetings that led to UNL going to the B1G and the Pac 16 almost being a reality. There are a lot of excerpts in here regarding UNL, but I'll paste my favorite one below: JUNE 1-4, 2010: BIG 12 MEETINGS EXCERPT FROM JUNE 2010 BERRY TRAMEL COLUMN IN THE DAILY OKLAHOMAN: “This isn't about Missouri. Nobody cares about Missouri. Stay, go, drop football, get mad all over again that the Insight Bowl invited Iowa State. Doesn't matter. If only Missouri leaves the Big 12, the league is fine. Heck, the league thrives. TV revenues wouldn't go down, plus there's one less mouth to feed. Heck, the NCAA might even give the Big 12 a waiver and let it keep the football championship game. This is about Nebraska. Everybody cares about Nebraska. Nebraska helps make the league go. Without Nebraska, Texas' and Oklahoma's enthusiasm for the Big 12 wanes.” Full Article: https://missouri.rivals.com/news/zero-trust-inside-mizzou-s-move-to-the-southeastern-conference
  5. Fun fact did you know everyone in the media about Nebraska that says a nice thing about Nebraska actually hates Nebraska?
  6. So the question for Sam is does he not think Riley and Co can't coach up their players to the same degree? I also don't get how someone who reports on recruiting can downplay the past recruiting of NU so much. I don't understand. He said the talent matchup is decent. Is this not true? He said we have the edge. Is this not true? Are you guys saying we have a much greater talent edge than Sam is implying? I don't doubt we have more talent, but I'd argue that the talent gap between Nebraska and say Ohio State is larger than Nebraska and Indiana (at this point anyway) Yes. http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite Injuries can screw with those numbers, but as we've heard forever, every team has injuries, so we just gotta overcome them. responding to this but creating a new thread so as to not taint this one. How did our discussion taint this one? What is the proper criteria for this thread? I wasn't trying to say that your discussion tainted this thread- if you read the thread I created "247 Roster Rating Discussion" I wanted to talk about a different point using the same link and didn't want to taint this thread with my response that is off topic. Sorry for the confusion
  7. Wanted to break this off from the Indiana Preview thread since I'm going to be talking about the talent on the roster as a whole and not how it relates to the IU game http://247sports.com/Team/Nebraska-37/Roster I find it interesting that 6 of the top 7 players on our list are freshmen/RS freshmen. (didn't include Charles Jackson in this since he isn't on the team). That would seem to suggest that last year's class is one of the best we've had in a long time. If we can continue to maintain that level of class in the future as our baseline while increasing and breaking the top 15 every 2-3 years I don't see any reason Big Red shouldn't consistently win the West and play in Indianapolis (and by virtue of that, take home hardware too). What impressions do others get from this list?

  9. He had a good, tough series and a big run but Ozigbo was injured. I'd say they're still even. Really the only reason Ozigbo is still "better" or even "even" to people is because they like the way he runs. And it is fun to watch him get a couple extra yards with how hard he runs. But Newby has more yards on 17 fewer carries (22% fewer carries than Ozigbo). His YPC is 1.3 higher than Ozigbo's. He has several runs longer than Ozigbo's longest run. Ozigbo still only has one game all season where his YPC is higher than Newby's worst YPC game. Ozigbo is a good back and definitely has a role on the team. But Newby is much more productive. here you go again bringing facts into the discussion
  10. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2016/10/05/ncaa-division-1-council-proposes-early-signing-periods-satellite-camps-recruits/91627604/ The NCAA Division I Council submitted a proposal Wednesday to introduce two 72-hour periods — one in June and one in mid-December — where football recruits can sign National Letters of Intent. The December date correlates to the ability of junior college players to sign scholarship papers. Assuming the proposal is adopted by the NCAA Board of Directors, it would go into effect for the 2017-18 recruiting cycle. It represents a significant change for both schools and recruits, whose only opportunity to sign previously was in early February.
  11. Do we have a chance here? He's been so tight lipped its impossible to get an accurate read on his recruitment
  12. Read the first part of that and thought it was a commitment. Hope we get that tweet soon too
  13. worrying a little that we haven't been able to set a visit date with him. Don't really think its real until he visits
  14. Someone find an open position at their company and offer a job to his mom in Lincoln I'm half kidding
  15. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/ct-mike-riley-nebraska-football-greenstein-spt-0930-20160929-column.html Mike Riley is America's kindly grandfather, a Mister Rogers competing in a world of Walter Whites. Riley's first season at Nebraska last year went so poorly (6-7), he actually made some "hot seat" lists. Even if that suggestion was absurd, you had to wonder whether players would ever embrace a man so opposite of the fiery, profane coach he replaced. Receiver Jordan Westerkamp said transitioning from Bo Pelini to Riley was akin to trading Jon Gruden for Tony Dungy. "A completely different coaching style," Westerkamp said. "Coach Bo is the gritty, get-in-your-face kind of guy. Coach Riley is laid-back and 'Let's learn from this.' It has been kind of unique where you get both sides." This Nebraska team does not resemble the championship-caliber outfits coach Tom Osborne produced in the mid-1990s, but the 4-0 Cornhuskers are ranked 15th and have a relatively easy path to a 7-0 start. They're three-touchdown favorites Saturday against Illinois, then travel to Indiana before hosting Purdue. Riley seems to be answering what I've wondered about him: Can nice guys finish first? "I think so, but I do think it's more difficult," said Mack Brown, who won the 2005 national championship at Texas. "Not everyone is playing by the rules, and Mike Riley will go by the letter of the law. Are some coaches running kids off (to get) spots on the roster? Mike is not going to do that. He will treat kids right."
  16. Former 5* QB and started the opener against USC for the Crimson Tide. No clue if we would be interested or not but he's a big 6'5 210+ lbs pro style QB with a live arm. From Corona, CA same home town as Taylor Martinez (different HS) and Josh Mitchell (different HS). Riley has connections in CA. Again I don't even know if we are looking into it, but I see no reason not to. Currently a RSFr. and is planning to enroll in Junior College this semester and join a program in the winter. Would assume he would have 3 to play 2 if I'm looking at this correctly (assuming he doesn't get granted 3 to play 3 from his JC decision). Thoughts?
  17. he isn't committing until next summer. This will only help our chances though.
