  1. personally I think someone has to lose. I just think the committee will have a hard time putting a team in when another team owns the head to head and has a conference title
  2. Ok I'm going to post each position group and a trend either up (+) down(-) or neutral(=) for next year, let's see if you all agree. QB(=) to me, QB play will improve next year overall, but we lose Tommy's playmaking ability and experience, not to mention our depth situation won't be too much better next year. Neutral RB(+) I like our backs. Yes we lose Newby, but Bryant really finished strong, I love Ozigbos skill set and I think Wilbon could make a bigger impact next year, kind of gives you a similar skillet to Newby. I think these guys will continue to improve and a fierce battle next year will sharpen them up even further. Up FB(+) believe we still have Mcnitt and Ben Miles will add depth and talent. Up WR(-) first position group I think we will see a definite step back. We lose 3 big playmakers with alot of experience. We will miss Reilly and Westy the most, Moore may have the most NFL success. Anyway we will still be ok. Morgan Jr. may become better than any of those guys, he finished strong. I'll be happy to see DPE more involved in the pass game and signing a certain 5*recruit will help us as well. But overall we are losing more than we will gain at this position. TE(-) we lose our best TE in years and 2 other contributors I believe. We will need young guys to step up OL(+) most likely we lose only 1 contributer here, alot of talent coming off redshirt, 3 returning starters will be juniors next year. Should be better in both the depth and talent department next season DL(=) we have young talent at DT, I like Freedom and think he will progress. Maurice will be a big loss and we need another d end. At the end of the day we will likely be no better or worse next year. LB(=) Bando is a big loss. MRI not so much. Young, Newby, and Weber are good players and I expect them to progress. I'm excited to see Barry. We will likely be about like we were this year, slow start stronger finish. DB(+) we do lose possibly our best player, but have everyone else back from a secondary that was fantastic at times, pretty bad at others. Alot of young talent here and we should see that develop next year.
  3. We want a big name guy but there are none available! And there wasn't when we were search either. Harbaugh was either going Big Blue or staying in the NFL. Could have tried Herman at that point but he had no HC experience. Tressell wasn't an option. Who were we supposed to get, PJ Fleck? Maybe he could have done well here but who knows. In all honesty HCMR could be considered a big name, at least among the coaches themselves. Alot of people here saying we need to recruit the 4 and 5 star guys and that Riley can't do that, but I think we will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of talent he will bring to Lincoln in his time here
  4. Lee will be great for us. He will start next year and play well. I trust work ethic and this guy seems to have that in spades. If he put as much time and effort in as they are saying he has, I think he will know this offense inside and out. He has a big arm and I think Nebraska is where his career takes off
  5. I really hope this is not the thinking and I suspect it is not as Riley is not this stupid. Thinking like this almost cost the USC coach his job. Yes, I am glad we brought in Lee but let him compete as we have two of our best QB recruits in awhile coming here. Frankly I expect POB and Gebbia to compete...they are not going against a long time starter in TA...its a blank page and none of these QB's have ever taken a snap at NU. This QB job needs to be wide open. maybe this was a comment on Lee's ability and talent and not an insight on the attitude of the coaching staff when it comes to the QB competition
  6. So go undefeated basically... I didn't say that. 30 PPG as a stat not every game at least 30 points. Right now I think we are at 27 so even more improvement may be needed. We could win 50-14 one week and lose 10-24 the next and still be averaging 30 PPG and holding all opponents below 30
  7. Charlie Strong failed to make a bowl two years in a row and Texas had their eyes on their new guy, situations aren't quite compareable. But in 2017 we must do well offensively to keep the Langs angry mob at bay. If we can't put up at least 30 PPG or more there will be many calling for his head. Defensively I feel like as long as we don't have an implosion all year, not give up any more than 30 points in any game that would be incredible. Alot to ask for it seems like but really it should be expected. If we could do these things, more moves in recruiting being made as well I will be a very happy husker fan
  8. We could have had a 2 deep close to that on the DL, but we had 4 guys decide to leave early. yep that definitely hurt us
  9. Michigan has 8 talented defensive lineman that can rotate all game. Something we definitely do not have
  10. Agreed. Ed O will have this guy all locked up, he was the person who was recruiting him in the first place yea?
  11. The fact that some people are putting their faith in a washout from Tulane doesn't instill much confidence for next year.... Tanner is far from a wash up qb. He's transferring because the knew coaching staff runs the option. He could've transferred anywhere and will be the one of the most effective qbs we've had in a long time His passing statistics were worse than Armstrong's were, in a weaker conference. Kid may start by default, but don't expect "effective" off the bat. Keep in mind who he was throwing to and why he had to throw that much. He's getting a major upgrade for receivers he is throwing to and that should bump his completion % pretty far up. Compare Tulane's Individual Receiving % of 2015 with Nebraska's for reference: Tulane: http://www.footballstudyhall.com/pages/2015-tulane-advanced-statistical-profile Nebraska: http://www.footballstudyhall.com/pages/2015-nebraska-advanced-statistical-profile He won't be behind by 3 TD's trying to come and win by passing all the time (2014 Rutgers beat them by double digits) He won't be getting sacked 25 times each year like he did at Tulane because he'll have an upgraded OL. Nebraska won't allow 70-80 tackles for loss like Tulane did. He also won't be a redshirt freshman/sphomore starting here like he was at Tulane and he'll have an entire year of playbook study and practices here at Nebraska He won't be injured for most of second season here at Nebraska like he was at Tulane...he played 4 games with fractured fingers on his throwing hand during which he completed 39% of his passes...which definitely lowers the overal %. He was also considered a Top QB in the Nation by the Manning Passing Academy...Tommy wasn't invited until his senior year: http://247sports.com/Bolt/Top-college-QBs-working-at-Manning-Passing-Academy-38153689 If you can look at all those things above and just ignore them and think that he won't make a major improvement/jump...then you may want to call a doctor and get things checked out. Anyone can see that he's going to have a chance to be a lot better here than he was there. and by all accounts it seems like he has been fully committed to going the extra mile to be the best he can be here at NU. I like him and I think he could be good for us next year especially if we can land a difference maker in the pass game this recruiting cycle.
  12. Because 504 is amazing at OSU. In my four years at OSU, we won 5 games.....total. No one cares about this. Yes he is a .500 coach at a program that was .400 before he arrived, what do people expect?? This is a case previous record is not determinant of how Riley might do here
  13. you haven't paid attention to either of their careers. At best they are similarly talented which I would say is true but Barrett just has more touch and takes what the D gives more he has his whole career. Michigan is an elite defense, it's not that surprising he is struggling today. Although he is just missing throws, alot like Armstrong did yesterday
  14. I'm watching the game. Yea he misses throws, they both do, but Barrett is more willing to go underneath and go through his progression. Barrett completes 10% more of his throws than Armstrong. Armstrong is better?Put Armstrong in that offense and he'd be much more productive. he was in that offense his freshman and sophomore year with the same results
  15. I'm watching the game. Yea he misses throws, they both do, but Barrett is more willing to go underneath and go through his progression. Barrett completes 10% more of his throws than Armstrong. Armstrong is better?
  16. Tanner Lee probably. I would not say O' Brian is a bust at this point.
  17. yep and you need those vertical routes in the play so the underneath routes are open
  18. Rough game, bad defense, can't make the big play happen even if it is open. We will see how we fight at the end here and in a bowl game
  19. I'm willing to give Langs a year with Tanner Lee. We can still win this game thanks to that field goal but we need that shutdown second half d we have played nearly all season and 3 long scoring drives starting with one right out of the half we can win this game.
  20. need to have the coach in Tommy's ear telling him where to throw it
