  1. Anyone else going to the Meet the Huskers event on Friday? Obviously Husk517 isn't, but how about the rest of you?
  2. There just needs to be someone in Russia willing to give his life to take Putin's like John Malkovich's character in "In the Line of FIre" without letting the Russian government know it's coming. Frank Horrigan : [over the phone] What to do you see when you're in the dark, and the demons come? Mitch Leary : I see you, Frank. I see you standing over the grave of another dead president. Frank Horrigan : That's not going to happen. I'm onto you. Mitch Leary : f#&% you Frank. I am willing to trade my life for his. I am smart, and I am willing, and that is all it takes. That president is coming home from California in a f#&%ing box. Frank Horrigan : Where in California? Mitch Leary : Uh, the address? Come on, Frank. I'll keep you in the game, but I'm not going to throw it for you.
  3. Huskers announced the Men's TV & most of the times today. https://huskers.com/news/2022/9/22/big-ten-announces-mens-basketball-tv-designations.aspx
  4. Not sure who I'd want, but Brad Stevens is not leaving the Celtics GM job to go back to coaching in college.
  5. Maybe have more non-con games in the middle of the season instead of ending the season with 8-9 conference games. Play a couple of non-con games to start the season, play 2-4 conference games, then a non-con game, 2-4 more conference games, another non-con game then finish up the conference games. If a team doesn't make their conference championship game, they can play another non-con game the week after the conference championship games and call it a "bowl" game. Leave the rest of December to the playoff and college hoops.
  6. Had you stopped there, I would have agreed with everything you said. If you really think there needs to be more football, then just make the regular season longer.
  7. There are actually 43 bowl games this year and only 131 FBS teams. That means that basically 2/3 of teams play in a bowl game. Does anyone remember when the NHL first went to 16 teams making the playoffs and there were only 23 teams in the league? Bowl games are longer a reward for a good season. Many of them are the same as participation medals. I agree that there needs to be many bowls cut from the list and I'd say that a nine win season should be the minimum for making a bowl game. If you can't win 75% of your games suck it up and work harder in the off season to get rewarded with a bowl game next year.
  8. He's 6' 7", so shorter than Delano Banton & has the skills to play point based on his time at NDSU.
  9. I'd be happy as can be if I got fired and was given 15M as a parting gift too.
  10. B1G schedule is out. Start the conference at Indiana 12/7 and end at Iowa 3/5. https://huskers.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule
  11. That's what I assumed, but wondered what he was saying. Based on what I saw on the OWH, he just said he was reopening his recruitment on social media which doesn't really say anything.
  12. Are the Huskers still in the running or has he completely moved on?
  13. Since college hoops is my favorite sport, I am always excited for the season. Maybe not as much as some years, but still excited. Not much faith nationally that the Huskers will be good so hopefully we can fly a little under the radar and surprise a few people.
  14. Only 10 weeks until the first official game...
  15. I checked out a couple of his songs on YouTube after the announcement. I wasn't impressed. They both had the exact same beat with different lyrics. I will probably stick around for at least part of his set after the Meet the Huskers event.
  16. They are not having EST Gee there before the Maine game. He will perform at the end of the "Meet the Huskers" event on September 30th. If it is like last year, the teams will be introduced, both the men & women will have a "scrimmage", then there will be a skills contest (last year was a three point contest) and then EST Gee will go on stage. Many people left before or just after G Herbo started (yes, another rapper). The youth of today are never going to listen to jazz or classical as a whole. Like it or not, rap is currently the popular music of today - just like rock was when I was growing up. I think rap is going through it's "disco" phase or "hair metal" phase where some of it is good, but most of it sucks. The last two years (including this one) the have brought in rappers because they are trying to appeal to a younger crowd (including the players).
  17. They must have all been home games because I don't remember watching any w/ BTN+. I am a season ticket holder, so I am at all the home games. I can foresee a game at Northwestern or one of the other bad teams being streamed.
  18. I'm a little disappointed that there will be 47 basketball games/year on Peacock. B1G hoops is the best college hoops in the nation and they will have a couple of games/week that end up on a pay service & unless The Huskers start playing much better they will be on there a couple times a year.
  19. OK, so who would lose a scholarship if he decides to come to Lincoln or is he going to pay his own way with NIL?
  20. Here's what ESPN has to say about it. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34374231/sources-big-ten-nears-media-rights-agreement-fox-cbs-nbc I know the money is all about football, but if it means not having to listen to the horrible basketball announcers that ESPN has it is a HUGE plus in my book. At this point the only thing I actually watch on ESPN if F1.
  21. Interesting story about transfer usage at major conference schools. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/34303945/which-men-college-basketball-programs-get-most-transfers
