  1. Hire a failure as a head coach and you will lose games. Fire failed coach and hire a young stud and enthusiasm will go through the roof. I don't know why a single fan would want Riley back next year. He will just continue to lose more games.
  2. The mere fact that he took some serious thoughts about leaving Navy to take that BYU job shows that he would take a new job. If he had no interest he wouldn't have even taken the time to go and interview for that job. He was very close to taking that BYU job. He was also a candidate for the Cal job. The Navy coach is one of the best coaches in the country and he is going to get P5 offers AGAIN. Oregon State is the one that is open right now and his name has come up as a person that they will look at. 3. Frost is leaving UCF after the season. Why? $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Frost: "Honey, I was offerd x job today for $5M/year." Wife: "No thanks, I would rather live off of our $2M/year salary from UCF." SMH That isn't how life goes when the $5M/year is coming from a legitimate P5 school that can win you a national championship or get you to the NFL with success.
  4. Campbell is a solid coach and would recruit at a high level. He has a lot of energy, passion, and gets his players to play at a high level (talent is the limiting factor). 6. 2 and a half weeks is the end of the month. They probably want someone hired by the end of the month. To get things done before he leaves he will need to be getting it done now before he is out the door.
  7. Saying we have started to interview candidates doesn't mean it will automatically lead to lakes. Rimmington was on the radio yesterday talking about the search and he was talking about what they are looking for in candidates. I'm sure interviews will start soon regardless.
  8. I don't have a link that shows a quote of him saying it, but he was meeting with some people today and one of the media people stated that. So, any rumor that you have heard about so and so AD being a lock, having an offer, etc, is complete and utterly BS made up by desperate insider wannabes.
  9. Watch Wideouts fail to meet his numbers AGAIN.
  10. Mike Riley is fired on Sunday after a 50+ butt kicking from Ohio State. Seats empty out in the 4th quarter.

  12. Frost would get all of the time needed as long as the team is showing improvements. Any coach would. Bo got 7 years because his early years improved from the previous guy. He would have some talent to start things off with. The first goal is to beat Wisconsin. Then when the division. After that continue to build the program back up.
  13. Better now than later. Without hesitation, I'd trade a competent head coach for a recruit any day of the week.
  14. Riley could go winless the rest of the season and he would still have lots of supporters because he is a nice person. Just being a nice person is not employable achievement. results is what keeps you employed.
  15. The Navy coach would be #2 on my list. That guy can flat out coach.
  16. We have a President of Football now. Leadership that actually cares about wanting to win big. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/shatel-football-president-hank-bounds-understands-importance-of-a-d/article_342d937e-aecc-11e7-8845-63d69a1aad7e.html The proper fit at AD would be a person with the same vision as Bounds so everyone is on the same page and the buy in is there from top to bottom throughout the university. IMO, most AD's would not be a good fit. I would prefer someone that can understand the Nebraska culture. Dann White and Ed Stewart are the two guys I would look at hard and long. Danny is connected to a Nebraska legend and he already has a strong relationship with Frost. Frost can get the team to play better football. I can see the same happening through Ed Stewart. I can't see that happening with the likes of Jeff Long. Mike Riley was offered a job and he took it. He has had a chance to win football games. He isn't wining football games so he has to go. That is life. The costs of making the change is just the cost of doing business.
  17. That's just my frustration of stuff I read about people not understanding why people want Frost. I have been watching Frost since he became the OC at Oregon and I have been impressed the entire time.
  18. The amount you need to pay will depend on a few factors. For example, Paul Chryst was at Pitt but it didn't take much for him to go back home and Barry knew that. It was a cheap transaction that is a perfect fit for their school. Now, go and look at Michigan. They had to drive a dump truck into Harbaugh's backyard to pull him away from the NFL. Alabama had to pay big money in order to pull Saban away from the Dolphins. For Nebraska, depending on the target, they will need to pay at least $5M a year to get a top 25ish level coach. Tom Herman is close to $6M at Texas. That is the kind of hire that Nebraska needs to make. Scott Frost gets paid $2M/year. There is going to be some competition to land him. I don't see Frost taking up an offer below $5M. I think if Nebraska pays below $4.5M/year it will end up being another failed hire. There is no Paul Chryst that will come on the cheap.
  19. Why would Frost supporters not want the leading scoring offense in the country? Why would Frost supporters not want to win games by more than 30 a game? Why would Frost supporters not want the second most efficient passing game in college football heading into this weekend? Why would Frost supporters not want a quick striking offense that is explosive? Why would Frost supporters not want an offense that can score on every drive in a game (see Cincy game)? Yeah, this Frost guy sucks. Us supporters are just dumb.
  20. In the end we will likely hire someone like Danny White at UCF or Ed Stewart from the Big 12 Conference. Those would be good hires.
  21. One of the USA Today writers wrote an article a week or two ago about the AD search. The writer stated that there is a lot of interest in the job and some of the SEC AD's were (are?) interested. Since then people have started rumors about Arkansas, today a person is trying to start a rumor about Vanderbilt (the dude is at retirement again), recently a person tried to start a rumor on Twitter about Kentucky's AD, then we had the Ole Miss rumor that was from the USA Today writer. People are going crazy over this trying to start a rumor about every SEC AD. the TCU AD that I mentioned came from some person pretending to have the inside info and it is obvious that poster was trolling and the post took off because people want something to feel good about.
  22. True. I was thinking about recruiting. I think you are right.
  23. Yep. it wouldn't be surprising if it is all "talked to" and not real prospects. Sure you reach out to the AD's at TCU and Alabama and the like, they are top level. But you always want a good fit and the big names are not always the proper fit. IMO, the best choice Nebraska can make is not a big name at all, it is a young buck in the profession that is hungry for success - like Danny White at UCF that has made great basketball and football hires.
  24. Just a venting thread. Anyone else find it amazing that there are always several people who pretend to be breaking news and they always end up being wrong? So this past Saturday night at around 11pm some poster on RSS posted that Del Conte is N. So people start posting all over the place about that rumor and Del Conte ends up tweet out that he isn't a candidate. Then you have people who say a hire is already made and they are just waiting on timing and then the interim AD goes onto the radio and it is clear as day that a hire has not been made yet. Then you have people who are pretending to speak for Frost about whether he will be coming back to Nebraska or not. Mike Severe on the radio said yesterday he knows for a fact that Coach Frost wants the Nebraska job. Then you go to the message boards and you have people who claim Coach Frost telling people he isn't interested. When Riley was getting hired we had people saying the former Ohio State coach was getting hired and it was a done deal. Maybe the real truth is that the Ole Miss and TCU AD's are not actual prospects for the Nebraska AD job? Now the latest "rumor" lead to freakouts is Jeff Long bringing Bret Bielema.
  25. I know who is spreading this around and who is pretending to have confirmed it. The guy pretending to confirm it is not an insider at all. I know his username on another board and he went to Scout and is pretending to be an insider. So many people pretend to know exactly what is taking place - who the AD is, who the AD is not, Riley is fired, Riley is not fired, Frost telling people no, Frost telling people yes, and so much more. They always end up being wrong. Why? Because they don't have real information.
