  1. I've always been a watson fan. His offense got cold last year, and he had to change his style of offense mid-season and now his hard work is paying off. apart from the hiccup last year, his offense schemes were successful. The transition to a west coast pass-happy offense to a run dominated offense is not a cake walk. Watson was able to do it in a relatively short period of time. His value to this team is immeasurable. Of course, everyone will be throwing rocks at him again if the team offense struggles for even one game. I'd rather have Watson with the reins to this offence than most any other OC in college fball.
  2. To be fair, after the initial posters' predictions, the Cyclone fans became a bit more realistic about their season. Common sense finally prevailed...with later postings suggesting a 5-7 (still optimistic, in my opinion) season. I agree that, in general, the none of the posters in the thread really gave Nebraska any respect. For that reason, I would like to see the Huskers steamroll the Cyclones in Ames this year.
  3. I thought the same thing after reading the article on ESPN. He's trying to save face...after Missouri got the cold shoulder from the B10 and being forced to swear alliance to Texas, even though Missouri openly was disgruntled with Texas and the rest of the Big 12. Now, he's all anti-Nebraska and anti-Colorado, because he perceives that it was those two schools that placed Missouri in its predicament. I agree with you. He shouldn't be running his mouth because his comments are childish and empty. Everyone knows that basketball is not pushing the buttons......it's football and TV sets. What a douche. (can I say that?)
  4. Does anyone know if TO and Perlman's speeches will be aired again? I missed most of it. Will huskerboard have the comments/speeches on a bulletin board to be read or listened to? Just curious. Thanks
  5. I have no idea what made you think, from that article, that Nebraska is staying in the B12. I think that UNL is waiting on the B10 to invite them, so they can jump ship. There are no list of demands....Texas is too arrogant to cower to demands by Nebraska.
  6. I've said more than once, but I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, you aren't going to build a rivalry with teams that you won't play every year.
  7. I really think that it makes a difference if you play a team EVERY year or not. If Nebraska goes to the B10 and plays Penn STate every two years, then I don't think that PSU would be Husker's #1 rival in the B10. I would wager that the powers-that-be would align Iowa with Nebraska on a yearly basis...just a guess...but I think that the Hawkeyes, because of close proximity and annual contests, would be THE rival. I would lump Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State as rivals, too - but not to the same extent as Iowa. I mean any game between any of those teams and Nebraska would be huge and garner national attention. But like it not, it's the teams that you play year-in and year-out that matter the most. Just my opinion.
  8. Anytime you can pit two storied programs like Nebraska and Penn State together on a consistent basis, a rivalry should develop. Don't know the likelihood of playing every year, though. Once the Nebraska-Oklahoma games were reduced to two years on, two years off, the rivalry diminished somewhat, I think.
  9. That video is an instant classic. I usually like Herbie but his dis-like for NU is troubling. I think NU fans should heckle him whenever possible. The next gameday with NU someone should make a sign to heckle him with a sign saying NU 1995 had 82.5%!!! Screw him. In arguing that 1995 Nebraska team was not as good as Miami (2001) and USC (2004), he says "did Nebraska throw the ball that year" (or something along those line). As if, throwing the ball equates to how good your football team is. What a douche. LOL I remember when Corso made that comment about Nebraska fans having nothing better to do than vote Suh for Heisman. That was earlier in the year when Suh didn't have nearly as much national recognition. The ESPN commentators had a love affair with the Tebow, Claussen and McCoy and couldn't understand how a defensive lineman could get a Heisman vote. They argued that the award should be for offensive players only. It turns out that Nebraska fans were right, Suh was the best player last year...#1 prospect in the draft. It must bother the ESPN commentators that anytime they have a poll, the Husker fans are so loyal and diehard that the results will always favor the Nebraska teams. I just love hearing them whine. You wonder when they will quit having polls because of it.
  10. Bout time our work is getting noticed Yeh, I love it when ESPN has polls and Husker fans tip the scales by voting in mass. It seems to piss off fans from the other schools. LOL
  11. I beg to differ. I am not a Missouri fan, but I respect their program. In 2007 and 2008, they were Big 12 North champs. If they had beaten Nebraska in 2009, they would have been B12 North champs again, but they pissed the game away in the fourth quarter. I'm just saying that, sometimes, we Husker fans can get pretty arrogant. We finally had a decent year and then we bad-mouth our competition. Missouri has recruited well; and, if they go to the B10 with us, I see them as a strong competitor - year in and year out. If our division consists of Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin or Illinois, we will have some tough competition. Teams have up and down years, but I think that Nebraska doesn't have a cakewalk no matter how your arrange divisions in the speculative "Big 16". While I get what you're saying, I don't agree with it. In 2007, we were at our lowest point since I've been alive. Mizzou did win the North because let's face it somebody had to. The North ever since Snyder retired and Clownahan came in should have joined the WAC because it was not worthy of being in a BCS conference. Like I said, Mizzou at their best still was only 3rd best in the conference. In 2008, they weren't even 3rd best because they lost to Okie State. I realize we all have different standards, but I do not believe Nebraska had a decent year in 2009. It was a very frustrating year. We had a Defense worthy of a NC, but we had an offense that might as well have stayed in the locker room. By Nebraska's standards, 2009 was not a decent year. I highly doubt if you ask Bo he'd say it was a decent year either. While I highly doubt Nebraska could walk into the Big 10 and dominate, I firmly believe Mizzou to walk in and be a middle of the pack team. I have no doubt that we will have some tough competition. I mean look at the Big 12. We've only won the Big 12 twice, and we've yet to win it this decade. Nebraska will not go into the Big 10 and dominate, but Mizzou will go into the Big 10 and be a middle of the pack team. The way it looks right now, Nebraska could go into the Big 10 and be a middle of the pack team. When I initially read your post, I presumed that you felt that Nebraska was a far superior team to Missouri. After reading your reply, I think that we agree more than we disagree. I think that the upper teams in the B10, as of now, are definitely Ohio State and Penn State. We can probably agree that neither Nebraska or Mizzou rightly can place themselves with these schools for B10 supremacy. The next level would be Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. Then you have the "middle of the pack" - Illinois, Purdue, Michigan State. Followed by perenial bottom dwellers Minnesota, Indiana and Northwestern. That's just how I would rate the teams at this point. Assuming that my rating is accurate, where would you place Nebraska? Missouri? Do you believe that Missouri and Nebraska are that much different talent-wise? I think that with either team, it's difficult to assess how they'd compare to the teams in the B10 for the reason that neither team has demonstrated long-term consistency. I would like to think that Nebraska would rate at least in the second tier - with Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. But they could easily excel to the upper tier or fall with the "middle of the road" teams. The same could be said of Mizzou. The difference is that Nebraska finished strong, whereas Mizzou took a dump. But then again, Mizzou whipped Illinois last year (albeit, an Illinois team that was a fragment of it's former self) and probably could've competed well against Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa last year. To put Mizzou and Nebraska's team strengths in perspective, here are the AP rankings of Mizzou and Nebraska over the past three years and the B10 teams that were ranked above them. 2009 Missouri - not ranked Nebraska (14) Wisconsin (16) Penn State (9) Iowa (7) Ohio State (5) 2008 Nebraska - not ranked Michigan State (24) Iowa (20) Missouri(19) Ohio State (9) Penn State (8) 2007 Nebraska - not ranked Wisconsin (24) Illinois (20) Michigan (18) Ohio State (5) Missouri (4) In 2006, neither Mizzou or Nebraska were ranked I think that Mizzou and Nebraska teams are somewhat comparable. Mizzou had a outstanding year in 2007. But, essentially, there was not any consistency in terms of producing successful, dominate teams. Like I said, every team has down years (Michigan and Illinois currently), but I see Mizzou and Nebraska having the same capability of putting high quality teams on the field that can challenge for the B10 title.
  12. Big Ten sucks now. But, you add Nebraska and...presto...it's the best conference ever. I think if any team is going to join the pac 10, it would have to be on the pacific side of the continental divide. Colorado, TX and TX A&M would be exceptions, if they chose to go that route. (Though I wonder if TX would be a better fit in the SEC.) As Nexus stated, travel costs would bite Nebraska in the arse and money talks. Also, in terms of academics and establishing rivalries, the B10 is really the only option for Nebraska, apart from staying in the B12.

Another thing to consider if NU goes to the B10 is that all the games will be in northern cities....no more warm fall football games in Okie or Texas. Big Red fans beware!!
  15. I don't know. I think where there is smoke, there is fire. Perlman's responses are just kindling the flames. This information is more reliable than a poster who claims that he/she has "inside information" from a "credible source". To me, the information reported by Joe Schad via ESPN radio 810 in Kansas City appears likely to have been leaked by a B10 official. I am very optimistic (hopeful) that this information is accurate. The reporter has his credibility at stake here.
  16. From the sounds of the article, it appears that, from Perlman's perspective, the creation of "super conferences" is not likely. I trust that he is in "the know" and has a good sense of what B10 administrators are discussing. I 'm starting to get the impression that the B10 is looking at expanding to 14 teams rather than 16, which worries me, because I don't know if Nebraska would make the cut. Rutgers, Pitt and Missouri seem to get mentioned frequently in B10 expansion talks.
  17. I apologize if this has been already posted. Seems like a minor infraction, though...some scuffle at a night club.
  18. Damn...that is an impressive highlight video!!
  19. I just don't understand why so many of the NFL mock drafts have the Buccaneers taking McCoy over Suh if both are available when it is time for their team to draft. I totally understand the reasons as to why many draft boards have the Lions taking Bradford #1 and the Rams taking Okung #2, but I don't see how the Bucks could bypass Suh, if he is available. The 2009-2010 season stats are heavily in Suh's favor. And Suh demonstrated that he was a better prospect at the combine, so what is it that I don't know? One mock (posted today) said that the Bucs have been coveting McCoy the whole time and had Suh falling to a #6 or #7 pick. Is there any likihood of this? I really think that that scenerio would be an injustice to Suh. Normally, I wouldn't put too much weight into one mock draft, but it wasn't the only one that I viewed that had Suh falling in the draft after McCoy got selected first. Just wondering if there is any truth that the Bucs are leaning toward McCoy. Thanks.
