  1. I agree. And it’s one of the reasons Nebraska is a good job. Maybe USC and UCLA changes that somewhat, but they’ll hopefully get the same “new kid on the block” treatment we endured.
  2. I was intrigued by Wake Forest’s HC, Dave Clawson, but they’re currently down 7-0 in the first quarter. So clearly he sucks, and I think we need to look elsewhere.
  3. If you made $6 mil a year, would you worry about state income taxes?
  4. A. Definitely. We’ve been dumb for >20 years. It’s time for that to stop.
  5. He’ll go somewhere and tear it up again. And we’ll all be here arguing about why we didn’t consider him. I can see it now. If it plays out that e, Hopefully it leaks that Trev did approach him, but he wasn’t interested.
  6. That portion of the fan base can f#&% off. This is football, not church choir. Urban is the best available coach out there period.
  7. What are your thoughts on Bronco Mendenhal?
  8. I’m not talking wins and losses. The coaching and administration/ ADs for 20 years have sucked, but they have no bearing on the next hire. Nebraska, as a job doesn’t suck.
  9. There’s absolutely no, zero, zilch reason an existing HC wouldn’t be coming. We don’t suck as much as so many on this board believe we do.
  10. On3 pointed out a name I hadn’t really considered before. https://www.on3.com/college/nebraska-cornhuskers/news/rece-davis-pete-thamel-weigh-in-on-bronco-mendenhall-candidacy-for-nebraska-head-coach-opening/
  11. Who knows what MJ’s aspirations are going to be come December. To me he seems more likely to enjoy being out recruiting than dealing with Head Coaching duties. Plus if he only wins 1-2 more games, who’s going to hire him as a HC? If he does well and Trev hires someone else, I can see him bolting for a HC gig if one was offered. I don’t see him voluntarily leaving NU for another assistant job.
  12. His wife doesn't want him to coach again, or she has something against NU?
  13. 18 seniors graduated from that 2019 Rhule team, plus a 4th round pick junior left early. 2020 was Aranda's first season there, plus it was the infamous COVID year. I'm more concerned with his impressive '21 and also waiting to see how this season plays out. Plus he's got the B1G connection as well as MJ/LSU connection. I just don't see a better realistic candidate at this point.
  14. I find Sipple unique and entertaining. But, yes it’s hard sometimes to take him seriously.
  15. I like it. I would include Dave Clawson too. I think anyone you mentioned would get us back to winning.
  16. What’s the big deal with this contract? The incoming coach is under no obligation to retain MJ. I hope he does, of course.
  17. We’re not full of ourselves. We need a coach. You don’t know what all these coaches’ career goals are until you ask. And Nebraska has a lot to offer. You seem to be going with the “glass half empty” approach here.
  18. I know. I’m just not getting my hopes up because of being used to us not getting nice things. But, by a long way, he would bring the most excitement to me compared to anyone else. People complain about this and that about him, but the guy knows how to win with talent. And if he came here, he would bring in a good staff and talented players.
  19. Since Urban likely isn’t coming, I’m switching to Team Aranda for now (I’m sure someone will tell me why he’s not coming either). But I reserve the right to shift on a daily basis. I think we can hopefully all agree that whoever Trev gets will be a significant upgrade over fHCSF. It’s not a stretch to say that if Trev finds the right guy, Trev could end up being considered the greatest Husker AD of our lifetimes.
  20. Reporters looking for clicks. And head coaches about to get raises.
  21. I’d guess that, at most, maybe 1/3 of all the coaches on the “ big board of NU coach candidates “ actually turn out to be really successful P5 coaches. Which ones is anybody's best guess. Leonhard does look promising, but I don’t want to take a chance on a coordinator. I’ll support whoever Trev gets, though. All the evidence I’ve seen/read points towards Matt Campbell the most.
  22. I want him. But I’m not delusional. I agree with you that he likely isn’t coming. I want wins. I’ve about had it with all of our failed head coach experiments.
