I played against Ricky Henry when he was at Burke and I'll be generous with my language and say that he was a dirty dog on the field. Henry routinely blasted guys away from the ball, hit guys after the whistle, and just generally gave the business to his high school opponents. He also was dominant from snap, used his hands incredibly well for a guy that strong, and was nearly impossible to get him off balance. At Nebraska, Henry was first team all conference and generally played within himself. Henry was a much better player than Knutson coming out of high school. But there is a solid tradition of taking overaggressive players with exceptional physical skills and harnessing that aggression on the field. Paris Johnson Jr. and Trey Smith are two very clear examples of this. Knutson has exceptional size and length but is a heavy-footed waist bender. He's not blowing guys 20 yards away from the play with good technique and athleticism like Henry, Johnson, or Smith did in high school. And with multiple ankle stomps against middling competition, I don't see how he will make our offensive line any better. But he might prove me wrong.

Watson's team just murdered most of their competition so his stats are goofy through 10 games (9-1). Pop has 129/171 (75.4%) for 2010 yards (11.8 ypa), 15 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions passing and 59 carries for 711 yards and 18 touchdowns rushing. He plays in the state semifinal tonight.

He just needs to put on 40 pounds of good weight while learning to bend his knees, use his hands, sit down on blocks, chop his feet, fire off the ball, dramatically increase his quickness, and not commit crimes on the field. Much like the way Knutson overextends and reaches on his blocks, this offer was a reach from the start.

I got to the game early enough to watch warm ups and Haarberg and Smothers were throwing in tandem. Haarberg throws bullets that are on target while Smothers was throwing wobblers that often required adjustments from the WR. The question is obviously about timing and decision making for Haarberg.

I agree that he has a brighter future at DB. His ability to flip his hips at his size is rare. Putting him on defense utilizes his gifts much more than at receiver.

To put this into perspective, Tom Osborne would have only missed the playoffs in 1973, 1976, 1977, and 1990. They would have gotten a first round byes in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1997. Since Osborne, we get in 1999, 2000, and 2001 but only get a first round bye in 1999.

Grant had a really good season going for 1730 yards and 18 touchdowns rushing this year including going for nearly 400 yards in the JC national semifinals.

From everything I've read, they expect the players to hit baseline numbers based on their position and then they apply that information to the film. What makes it interesting is that the combine does more for players who might move positions in the NFL which makes JoJo Domann a really interesting person this year. A couple of good examples from Nebraska would be Lamar Jackson and Nate Gerry. Lamar Jackson's physical profile for cornerback wasn't the best but he did have very good profile for a safety. However, when you watch his film, you see that he was not comfortable playing in zone and is very late breaking on guys who enter his zone. His below average speed at CB mixed with the fact that he could only play CB made him go undrafted despite being "better" in college than some guys that got drafted. Gerry might have below average athleticism for a safety in the NFL but really fits the profile for a modern off ball linebacker. When you look at his film at Nebraska, we saw a guy that is comfortable coming up and making a play in run coverage, understands the zone he covers, and is very physical. So his film and combine suggested he could be a contributor at a different position.

That looks about right from his highlights, he's more sudden and decisive than he is fast.

His stats for the year are 71 carries for 1231 yards and 28 TDs, seven two-point conversations, seven catches for 163 yards and three TDs, five punt return TDs, 11 kick returns for 403 yards and six TDs, 23 tackles, seven TFLs, three interceptions, seven PBU, and one fumble returned for a TD. Malcolm was the best player on the field ever game he had. He is undersized but was so productive last year. If he really runs a 4.47 then great pickup.

Stenger has his senior highlights out. He's fun as a HS QB because of his calm/athleticism but obviously his future is on the defensive side. His hit on Kaden Helms at 1:10 that is a nice preview of what to expect from him over the next five years. In fact, his highlights against Bellevue West are worth a watch.

He just posted some great senior highlights. He has that unique ability to always just be a half foot off of where the defender is expecting him to be, like a smaller Darren McFadden. A bunch of his crazier moves probably won't translate to college but that core side-step and explode is so good.

Victor has his senior highlights up. He has quick feet and makes sudden, deliberate movements to get himself open and advance the ball upfield. Even down to his mannerisms, Jones looks like the archetype of a great high school wide receiver. 7:30 features a uniquely great, stupid touchdowns.
