  1. I woke this morning after watching a Friday to remember in Nebraska Athletics. My very first thought as I opened my eyes was "Can we, Husker Nation, finally just move on from the best last Era of Husker Greatness and into a NEW era of Husker Greatness"? The old regime/guard is out finally. Trev was the last of the old guard. The new guard is/has righted the ship and frankly, I think Trev leaving is probably going to turn out to be a good thing. The Solich issue was mended and put to rest by the last of the "old guard" as it should have been. Trev did an admirable job of correcting the wrongs, bringing unity back, putting the department into a new era and then left. So, instead of constantly whining about it, let's actually lay it to rest and move forward with the new group of coaches and allow them to create their own dynasty along with the players they bring in. There's few of the old guard left. The volleyball team did it when Terry hired John and that's proven to be hugely successful. Time now for Matt, for Fred, Amy and the rest. Time for the fanbase (myself included) to sit back and enjoy the ride.

  2. Remember this name: David Condon and pray we never have to deal with his calls at home plate. Absolute horrendous plate umpire.

    and...

The Iowa game: look at this, Top of the 5th, no outs (Total Pitches) W. Illinois 72 @ Iowa 100

100 pitches in less than 5 innings

I kinda like Sears moving to Saturday as he's been just nails this season. With him in the Saturday spot, he can right the ship if you drop the series opener and if you win on Friday you love your chances turning the ball over to him to get the series win.

@HANC @Xmas32 - Both of you make very good points. See.. I told you I'm not qualified to be a manager of a team :)

  4. Good interim selection, yes? Curious what others think. also, I think there's a very real possibility that Jamie Pollard will be reached out to or at least I hope so. Kind felt he was who I wanted when Trev was hired. Hope we didn't burn that bridge.

True, I just picked the names people here would recognize. A lot of unintended consequences to this power struggle that general public doesn't see and don't realize. Loss of professors, inability to recruit good professors, the brain drain is real and will be devastating. The current desire to squash this 'woke' movement in academia is major problem in the not too distant future and is already having some very unsavory side effects. A lot of leopards will be full on faces.

This is why politics has no place in academia. Teach the facts about governments and strengths and weaknesses of all types from authoritarian to democratic republics but keep the personal opinions and beliefs out of the subject matter. Somehow the ultra left and extreme right can't get this through their thick heads and they both push their agenda's and indoctrinations. Enforce curriculum while also enforcing institutional indoctrination. I mean seriously, did the world learn nothing from the mistakes leading up to the 2nd great war?? Indoctrination of any type is purely disgusting be it political, religious, biological, or any other.. Just stop with indoctrination principles and a lot of the differences suddenly becomes indifference to/with one another and real change/advances occur.

  6. Hopefully and in due time, Trev will address openly his decision. Speculating on it only creates confrontation. However, I don't believe anyone can deny that 206 days and still nowhere near having an announced replacement for Carter is acceptable. I also think the Pillen apologists might rethink their side. The old clique of "s_it rolls down hill" is true but so too is the truth that ownership of a problem starts at the top.

Trev's gone, the university has to move forward and the university and board of regents can't drag their feet any longer. Pillen is accountable and if it is learned that he's the biggest issue then address it in the next election but for now, the university needs to act proactively and with urgency while also doing their due diligence in finding the best person for the positions, politics aside and excluded in the decision process. Flippin politics!! Hate it!!

  7. Frustrating to say the least. Now the worry about sniping coachs (like Tony White)... Shocked that Trev resigned via email rather than in person.. Guess the office will be cleaned and personal items forwarded.

  8. Not sure what's happening with Indiana.. They are getting destroyed at home by Illinois State.. 13-0 (top of 3, 1 out) Currently they are 3-6 over their last 9 games and if today's score hold it will be 3-7. In this stretch they've played some very good competition true. (Bama @ 15-2 record, Dallas Baptist @ 15 - 3 record (1 game each) and a 3 game series with Troy who is also 15-3) Still, losing to teams with below .500 records too and mostly blowouts. Looking at the roster and reading through a few Hoosier articles I didn't read where they've suffered injury other than their Freshman Catcher who was their day 1 starter. He was hurt in that game.

Score as I close now is 14-0 end of 3, Illinois State winning.

  9. I know right now it's everything Trev (as it should be given the enormity of the news) still, the D1 Staff's podcast has some very positive remarks regarding the Huskers. Start at the 28:30 mark if you want to scroll directly too the start of the Husker pub.

  10. Hmm.. someone earlier mentioned in sarcasm (at least mostly) that Trev was joining A&M to prepare them for joining the B1G. It was also reported that Trev did submit an application to be the new Commissioner of the B1G. So, the conspiracy theorist in me is wondering.. Might the crooked B1G powers have said to Trev, you go south and get us A&M and you'll be awarded the next Commissioner when that position opens? (Now, I/we know that didn't happen but sarcasm aside, might it have? Oh the fun in conspiracy!!)

  11. keeping my head in the sand.. and now wondering, even if he isn't leaving/decides to stay, surely this will not result in tarnishing his image within Husker Nation will/would it?

  12. @whateveritis1224

Situational decision. They wanted a left on left matchup. Also, by announcing the pitching change to a lefty with 2 outs and the opponent chasing runs, it might result in the opponent also going to their bench for a right-handed batter which thereby could remove the lefty bat from the game. WSU trusted the hitter and he came through. That's baseball. That's the chest match and in that exact scenario most staffs would do exactly what Bolt & Staff (Childress) did.
