What a shocker...at OSU right out of the gate followed up by the toughest team to play in our division. I see they sprinkled Penn State in there as well. I guess no Rutgers then, with Bill Moos saying we will play two of the previously three cross-over teams.

The Big Ten has announced the Chief Infection Officer (CInO) for the Nebraska to be....

"Eventually all Big Ten sports will require testing protocols before they can resume competition. Updates regarding fall sports other than football, as well as winter sports that begin in the fall including men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and wrestling, will be announced shortly." So it looks like ALL sports are back on the table. Good!

Just like a stoplight....green, orange, and red. With Red/Red or Go/Big/Red meaning a team must stop regular practice and competition for a minimum of seven days and reassess metrics until improved.

Maybe the plan is to make everyone look like fools, and then when the official announcement does finally come, the Big Ten will not look so bad in comparison. Genius!

Something tells me an announcement was coming until the hot mic incident. Green wanted to crash the party and the Big Ten responded with a postponed announcement for spite.

I really don't want to lose to OSU 3 times, Penn State 2 times, and Iowa once and go 3-6.

When I moved to the West Coast for a short time, I had to deal with a massive redneck stereotype just from being born and raised in Nebraska. I was legit asked if we still rode horses to get around in Nebraska by someone who had a Masters Degree. Someone said "oh" in a good way when they asked where I was from...then realized that I said Nebraska and not Alaska and then said "oh" in a bad way. The list goes on and on. I am willing to bet I am not alone. A long haired man making a mockery of our governance does not disparage this stereotype. I was born in Omaha and have lived in Nebraska for 38 years, living in Grand Island and Kearney and have resided in Lincoln for 17 years now. I have been to Husker football games going back to the early 90s. Worked in cornfields for 5 years with family owning hundreds of acres of farmland north of Lincoln. I am more Nebraskan than most here could ever dream of, especially compared to some larp living in freaking colorado.

In a perfect college sports world the NCAA would not exist. Each conference would enforce its own rules based on federal law. If they violate the law the FBI would get involved. Cut out the middle man taking a massive payout. All the Universities that currently send millions to the NCAA to keep its doors open would keep that money.

And you misunderstand how advertising works on the internet. This guy will be in a small box at the bottom or side of websites all across the internet for the rest of our lives and the caption will read...."You will never guess what this Nebraskan said at a city council meeting!".

I know this is a joke but... just another national media instance of making Nebraska look like a bunch of morons who live in cornfields and drive around in tractors. National perception of our state is already crap before this guy came long.

In 1958 LSU went 11-0 and was the Associated Press pick for National Champion. Meanwhile Iowa went 8-1-1 despite losing AT HOME by 10 points to Ohio State and ending their game with Air Force AT HOME tied at 13. How Iowa claims a NC that year is mind blowing, and quite frankly befitting of Iowa, who still to this day views an 8 win season as being among the elite.

I am sure the SEC would LOVE to schedule us with LSU, Bama, Georgia, and Florida nearly every year. And so would those teams. At this point in the game we would be another bottom feeder to them (Missouri/Texas AM). Last I checked, Nebraska is in the Midwest and the SEC or SOUTHEASTERN conference is not in the Midwest. Plus in the B1G West, we just have to be better than Wisconsin to win the division year in and year out. This is merely a hurdle to get over rather than a mountain that we would have to climb in either SEC division. And losing in the B1G championship game lands us in the Rose Bowl....not bad! For the money, notoriety and 'fit', the B1G is our best bet. Sure beats being a part of the Texas conference as one of their lowly servants and the ACC is in another universe along with the Pac 12. So out of the power 5 conferences, our best bet is the B1G...TO got it right, again. We landed in the best spot out of the five choices, but this may change once the realignment happens again...which it will here in a few short years. But being apart of one of the two "highly edumucated virtue signaling" power 5 conferences during a moderate pandemic has its draw backs, which we are finding out right now.

All solid counterpoints. I know the odds of us going independent are about even with me winning the lottery, but I guess I am just more pissed than anything that our season can be taken away so easily. The schools who voted no (Nebraska, OSU, and Iowa) should be allowed by the B1G to pursue alternative non-conference games this fall under certain guidelines. Feels like not only was our season taken away from us, but our freedom as an autonomous organization as well.

The NY Times is providing a valuable asset to society during these toilet paper shortages though.

No, the B1G are digging in with their comment that this lawsuit is a "fishing expedition". They will not about face now and look even more foolish. With each public attack from Nebraska to the B1G HQ, the harder the road ahead becomes for Nebraska in the conference (scheduling which is already sh*t, network coverage which is already in the cellar, etc.). I would say as it stands now, we have the same level of love from the B1G HQ that we had with the Big 12 HQ in our final days in that conference. I see our long-term future in the conference in jeopardy to be honest at this point. If the B1G keeps Warren and they crap the bed again with the new TV contract renewals coming up resulting in us making less than all of the teams in the SEC, ACC, and Big 12, we should go independent IMO...damned the costs. We have the money to build the new planned facilities several times over in savings as it stands right now. Going from 50 million a year to 15-20 million a year will not affect the product Frost puts on the field one bit. Texas by far brings in more money than any other team in the FBS and when was the last time they won a conference championship let alone a NC? We will have to cut other sports that spend more than they make like soccer, swimming, quidditch, golf, rifle, etc. and few will notice or care. This is why you have University Clubs. We will easily gain 3+ wins every football season (guaranteed bowl games every year forever) and TONS of wins in basketball by making our own schedule. Imagine a world where we do not play Ohio State every single damned year! I have heard people say we would no longer be relevant if we leave the B1G, yet we are some how relevant right now in the B1G basement? We cannot even beat Purdue for crying out loud. This season, that game still looked to be a struggle... If Texas can make their own network, so can we. NET in Lincoln would be a good starting point. They already have Husker football shows and televise most volleyball games and other sports for all of Nebraska. The rest of the nation could get our games via an exclusive deal with Fox Sports and pay-per view. Build a Hockey arena next to Pinnacle Bank Arena would be another cash cow to make up the lost money (can share the stars arena until this arena is built...they need the money). Men's Hockey is fun to watch and fans could get behind the tackling on ice sport. We already have a practice facility for hockey with the Husker mens Hockey club. Could schedule in yearly local rivalries! Wyoming, Kansas teams, Colorado teams etc. Would love to play Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State again in football...easy on the fanbase to travel to as well!

Strongly worded letters are flying in all directions! Look out, they might cause a paper cut! Nothing will come of this. Only more angst between the B1G HQ and Nebraska. Which will result in continued difficult scheduling directed at the Huskers and burying us their broadcasts on the network. We might be approaching the same level of hate that we received from Dallas while in the Big 12. Maybe years down the road, we will eventually just say F*** it and go independent and announce a tv deal with Fox sports. We have the money and fan support to get it done across the nation. Will we lose money and a few sports like darts and soccer? Yep. Will that affect the product we put on the football field and the number of fan butts in the seats? Nope.
