  1. This obviously means he's coming to Nebraska
  2. Ole Miss getting creamed by Arkansas tonight good Lord... Maybe Kiffin is coming here.. or Auburn
  3. This first drive out of half will tell us a lot. If Wisconsin is able to grind it right down the field, I won't feel good about the rest of the game. But if the D can force a punt, we're in good shape
  4. This tweet sounds a little reflective. Not sure if I like that...
  5. My favorite part of this thread is people having highly emotional reactions to things that most likely aren't going on at all.
  6. Good Lord... Safe to say everybody's uptight LOL Mickey being a serious candidate at this point is probably not in the cards (rightfully), but I do believe that if Wisconsin were to lose this game, Jim Leonhard's chances of getting the HC gig there goes WAY down, if not sabotaging it altogether. He already has a bad loss against Michigan State, and this could do him in...
  7. If Mickey can lead this team to a win over Wisconsin tomorrow, he could simultaneously torpedo Leonhard's chances for the Wisconsin job, and put himself back in serious contention for the job at Nebraska. This is assuming the media guys are correct that we don't in fact have a coach lined up right now
  8. Leipold HC Mickey recruiting coordinator Gary Patterson DC That would probably be a pipe dream but it would be amazing
  9. You think people just walk around with cameras in their pockets all the time?
  10. Leipold or Rhule would be awesome IMO. Those 2 and Fickell would be the top tier of my coaching hot board (of realistic candidates at least).
  11. You're 100% correct that if plays are executed well, the OC will be lauded as a genius, and if the exact same play calls against the exact same defenses aren't executed, the OC gets criticized as an idiot that doesn't know what he's doing. And I think Tim Beck did a lot of really good things, and I'd take him back in a heartbeat over Whipple, Frost, and Langsdorf calling plays. But I vividly recall watching Ohio State the year Tim Beck was calling plays there, and I won't say he definitely cost them a title, but I certainly think it's arguable that he did. And I recall Zeke being fairly distraught at the play selection as well. There's a reason he only lasted a year or 2 there. But once again, I think overall he did a really good job for us so I don't want that to be misconstrued.
  12. I agree with you, but to play devil's advocate a little bit: Tim Beck arguably cost Ohio State a chance at a national title with his play calling
  13. You do realize he wasn't, right? And you also realize that your fetish for this Filipowski guy is pretty strange, right?
  14. If you choose to not pay attention and then chalk it up to "deranged Republicans" then you do you.
  15. As it turns out, drag queens in every school, genital mutilation of minors, and abortion on demand isn't a winning campaign platform... Who'da thunk it...
  16. I think for the average person who works to make a living, that's the thought process. But let's be real here. Once coaches get to the head coach level at the power 5 or NFL (or even FCS level for that matter), they could work for a couple years and then be set for life. You just don't see many if any doing that. Which points to a different motivation than sustenance. For some coaches, I think their motivation is money (making as much as they possibly can). But I'd bet the intrinsic motivation for a vast majority of coaches is to win at a high level - whatever that looks like to each individual coach - and/or to lead and mould young men.
  17. Except when you look specifically at the Minn game, the 1st 2 drives AG had I think over 70 yards rushing. Those 1st 2 drives consisted of primarily 12 personnel and hard play action bootlegs when we mixed in the pass. Then the 2nd quarter on, we saw basically zero of the formations and plays that actually showed success early in the game. Instead, we saw almost exclusively shotgun, very little play action on pass plays, and the only attempts to run the ball were either draws or silly counter plays, most of which were lucky to get back to the line of scrimmage. Statistics definitely do not tell the story. If Mickey wants the HC job (which may be out of his reach already), then he needs to force Whipple to call run plays that actually work and stick to them for an entire game. I appreciate Mickey's honesty about that in the presser, but we've got to see it come to fruition on Saturday.
  18. I think that even the people close to the program don't know anything so this has all been nothing but wild, baseless speculation
  19. Better than sitting in a soft zone with DBs 8+ yards off the receivers and zero gap integrity up front
  20. It all depends who the new coach is. If it's not announced either in the next few days or beginning of next week, my bet is that it's not Rhule, Urban, or Peterson
  21. I'd personally trust him to do much better than bowl eligibility. I think this week could tell us if last week's rumors have any weight to them. If Rhule is the guy, there's no reason to delay any longer. But if it's a guy like Leipold or Aranda or Stoops, it'll have to wait 3 more weeks
  22. I wanna say it was McBride. Edit: my reading comprehension tonight is garbage so nvm LOL
  23. I think the brand and the jerseys will look a lot more shiny once the team starts winning again. I'd absolutely love to see red on red just with our traditional unis, but I'd rather just see the team start winning first and then worry about what they're wearing.
  24. Saying this stuff only a few years ago would get a guy punched LOL. blockquote widget
