  1. Add in KW not allowing baseball teams to play OOC- even teams coming to Lincoln or 50 miles away. Thanks to KW there is NO post season baseball tourney but there was a post season basketball tourney. Thanks to that NU isnt hosting a regional Thanks to that a 31-12 team that is 11-1 over the last 12 got put in the SAME REGIONAL as the NUMBER ONE OVERALL SEED. This guy is making over 4 MILLION A YEAR
  2. Yes, He thought he would come in and do some simple social justice warrior bandaids and put a few banners up and parlay that into the NFL Comish job- thanks to his little league trophies and employee of the month participation certificates. Even the ultra woke NFL probably wont take him now- so he's collecting a check here until an easy make work gig presents itself or people wake up and he gets fired. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYgo96LM3Wk
  3. I certainly hope so- but I highly doubt it. He has immunity. Lucky for him though on the very odd chance he was fired. Hes never moved to Chicago- he has that going for him. Hes still living in Minnesota and commuting a few days a week.
  4. Look at the comment section of the article. The Ohio State people commenting are far more down on Kevin Warren than the biggest critics of him here. They seem to be on the verge of taking action- for a grass roots attempt to getting Warren fired. #firekevinwarren The criticism there is very aggressive. Also the Parents of Ohio State - Maybe they have something brewing for Mr Warren. "To the Big Ten parents organizations that participated in zoom meetings, emails, and phone calls, Thank You! We will see you soon!"
  5. I never cared about the "city" where the college I went to was. Almost all my activities outside of school and work were for the most part college related. It didnt matter to me that the city had x or y place. It was the college community- it was 1000 miles away or so and for me the city didnt matter. Does the school have a good reputation- will my degree be worth something? Is the college community engaged and dynamic/ non commuter school? Is it reasonably safe? For me- weather was important- I was sick of the cold.
  6. Yes Perry looked pretty sharp last time out. First time out, not so much. It would be AWESOME if this late free season bump set the table for next year after coming off of surgery. Yes, they were hitting Povich pretty hard in those late innings, defense was stellar. Bunz threw 20 pitches- Schelly only threw 8. Bolt said he wasnt going to press it- but you would think Schelly and even Bunz could go some on Sunday if needed.
  7. Are they going to try and start Shay on Sunday? He hasnt been great of late. If not, what do they try to cobble together inning wise? Im guessing it depends on how deep Roach can go tomorrow. Bolt said on the radio prior to the game that he didnt view these games as do or die and wasnt going to press with his pitchers. Povich then threw 8 innings and Schwelly finished so- not sure what he has in mind.
  8. We were in the row right behind the Husker dugout. Place went wild on this play right in front of us. Huskers are playing great D- have all year.
  9. Updating the standings? They had the Michigan win totals wrong for SEVERAL WEEKS. Game that happened on 5/1 they didnt get corrected until what 5/22? Thats THREE WEEKS> The Indiana schedule and loss total wrong for 3 days. Its a joke- so unprofessional. The TV coverage of a game between 1-2 with NO SOUND? really?
  10. Went on the NU ticket site yesterday- said all reserved seats sold. THis AM- they werent. Looks like were sitting in real seats today instead of on picnic tables.
  11. The mast majority of College athletes will make little to nothing from NIL. Out of 85 kids on scholarship for football- maybe 10-15 will make more than the taxes owed on their scholarships. Bernie has really never held a real job outside of government, so he rarely considers all the implications these types of things seem to create. The collective bargaining is so the players can start earning salaries on top of what they are already getting now. Bernie doesnt realize only a handful of Universities actually generate a profit on their sports teams- Im guessing hes going to suggest they just print more money to cover the difference- his answer to everything it seems. NIL- will be great for big name players, starters in the skill positions and star players for schools with big fan bases in the major sports. Wrestlers, gymnasts- all the other sports with the exception of some of the basketball, baseball and volleyball players will all be at zero for NIL.
  12. I'm a hopeful optimist. Hopeful for the absolute top range this team could achieve if everything goes right, knowledgeable to the fact that almost every game is losable and realistic that NU ends up somewhere between the two extremes. With a reasonable expectation that they play what most could describe as well coached good physical football most of the time.
  13. I'm not sure I know, but it would be difficult to imagine who could be worse than KW. Its great he didn't molest any kids, perform unwanted genital exams and the like, but that seems like a pretty low bar to exceed. You hire a great search firm and pay them the appropriate amount. There are many search firms- specializing in niches- I'm sure there is one that has done good work in executive management with media, event management, league management or the like experience. Write down all of the requirements, skills and macro skills that someone successful at that role would have and then they cast the nets. Hire on merit alone. You interview and then hire them. You aren't hiring a waiter or a pipefitter- not that those are easy to fill nowadays either. The hiring profile is very narrow- that's why the job pays MILLIONS. PAC did it. And sugar on top nice to have thing- the new hire isn't using this as a stepping stone to something they plan on leaving soon. AND to show commitment and stability- move themselves and family to Chicago. (ok to live in the suburbs so they don't get shot LOL)
  14. Who had heard of Kevin Warren before he was anointed head of the BIG?I look at the requirements of the position and see if the candidate has the skills and or experience to meet those requirements. Thats how I did it when I was hiring execs for my company. Thats how most people hire. Whats not to LOVE about the PAC guy? You need to be able to run large events, tournaments- venues etc. He ran HUGE events for MGM- thats big time. You need to get $ in the door. He was in charge of getting sponsorship for said HUGE events. You need to understand todays media and maximize exposure and monetization- He was Chief Digital Officer for NBC UNiversal- knows digital media inside and out. KW may not even know how to spell digital media. You need to understand todays media landscape- He was CEO of HULU. HULU is hot and in the middle of todays Media distribution world. He KNOWS STREAMING at the atomic level. KW- Nope He need to be able to work with gaining a consensus and leading an org with multiple stakeholders- Served on a league Board of Governors- the WNBA. KW- nope Needs to understand Media- Kliavkoff co-led the largest and most profitable division at Hearst Entertainment & Syndication, overseeing Hearst’s interests in cable television networks, including ESPN, A&E, Lifetime and HISTORY Was EVP for MLB- advanced Media. KW- nope. KW worked for the vikings, is a lawyer and worked some other nfl gigs. He helped get a stadium built and got some diversity stuff implemented in the NFL. Not sure the BIG is building any buildings or even an office- KW still lives in Minnesota right now. If we were building stadiums maybe hes our guy, but we arent. The PAC is in the batting circle for negotiating their new media rights deal. So is the BIG- the $52,000,000 per team trough that keeps everyone fed and in the league- the holy grail. Based on KWs track record in the BIG Do you really feel good about KW negotiating that deal or would you much rather have the guy with all the successful media experience who knows it inside and out? Hes going to be eaten alive. I dont feel good about that scenario and the BIG will be STUCK with that agreement for a long time.
  15. This years team seemed to bunt pretty well the first half of the season. Suicide squeeze one game even. Hallmark was bunting for base hits etc Then one series about midway through- I cant remember which one, we couldnt bunt to save our lives. Ever since then, the bunting has been pretty spotty, even bad by many yardsticks. Erstads teams did bunt well and often. Just didnt have the big bats and complete game, mental toughness this team has.
  16. Im not sure there is much of a majority yet, we are talking the BIG10 which talks so big about integrity but in action- not so much. Unfortunately he is "teflon", even when KW is blatantly in the wrong- you cant even criticize him without the posse coming out in spades to defend him. So many willing to carry his water- if this was Jim Delaney bumbling like a drunk blind man, people would be all over him and asking him to resign. KW thought he would come into the BIG, make a few woke surface level things that wouldnt mean a hill of beans and parlay that into the NFL commish job. Instead he totally screwed up on Football, Basketball and now Baseball- all he needs to do is screw up the media rights (which he will) to hit for the cycle. By then the BIG will be committed to an awful and debilitating contract and KW will be on his way to the NFL. Does any reasonable person really have confidence in KW negotiating the Media deal? Is there anyone that wouldnt prefer a qualified guy like the PAC guy instead?
  17. I really hope youre correct. We all know he has a free pass until the Super Woke NFL comes calling. The PAC guy will be running circles around what Warren does for the BIG- it will be like Bama vs Bryan High School. The BIG has only itself to blame for not hiring someone with the skills and history required to run a league, put on great events and negotiate media contracts. The PAC hit a HOME RUN with Reggie Jackson in his prime at the plate. The BIG10 suited up the coaches son- batboy- watched 3 strikes- right in the middle of the strike zone and our batter was faced the wrong way. Meanwhile Warrens water carriers blamed the umpire and weather- it was 72 and partly cloudy instead of 75 and full sun.
  18. THE PAC just hired a brand new Rolls Royce of Commissioners. We hired a bumbling "vote counter" empty suit. Who still hasnt figured out his office and the BTN is in CHICAGO- while he's still living in Minnesota waiting for the phone call he covets from the NFL. We have a Yugo that was totaled out, rebuilt and then relegated to a Bulgarian rental car program for the last 20 years.
  19. Meanwhile the PAC has hired a HOME RUN. Someone that has put on huge events Someone who has negotiated media contracts Someone that understands Digital Media inside and out Someone that gets where people consume content and how to monetize it The guy was CEO of HULU for crying out loud. At MGM, he oversaw a massive live event operation and was intimately involved in corporate sponsorship efforts. He was the chief digital officer at NBCUniversal, where he led the company's corporate digital strategy in a role that eventually saw him become the interim CEO of Hulu He was also executive vice president of business for Major League Baseball's Advanced Media What a concept- hiring someone based on the skills they have and the needs of the conference. PAC will be shedding their media contract and finally be in the LA market with the new guy and making a lot more money than before. Meanwhile WE have KEVIN WARREN negotiating our new media contract. Well there is this thing called google- hopefully KW can learn enough about negotiating media rights and how to monetize digital media between now and when he visits the shark professionals negotiating for the other side. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/31449912/state-pac-12-hiring-george-kliavkoff-means-tv-rights-cfp-expansion-nil-more?fbclid=IwAR2-Gm1Ta36zu4gRj3HUzzlvapfn9fxzeC7QEd7H477Jtxs92xSOLWJLn4U
  20. Went to buy tickets yesterday for Friday- all the reserved seating sold out for the entire weekend. Great crowds will be on hand it seems even for the Friday noon game. GBR
  21. Kevin Warren accuses Ohio State of manufacturing parents letter. So the king is saying Ohio State is lying. Pretty serious accusation Later in the day, at 2:28 p.m., Ohio State’s football parents association released a letter onto social media similar to that of the one Teague had shared earlier in the day. The parents addressed it to Warren and made a number of requests, including a reinstatement of the Big Ten-only fall football schedule, full transparency and a Zoom meeting with players and parents. Evidently, it didn’t go over well in Warren’s office. Text Message Johnson texted Smith at some point during the day, evidently before the parents’ letter was publicized: “Kevin is alleging that the letter is being manufactured. The upcoming letter from OSU parents - claims it is being manufactured - I am not happy pretty serious charge IMHO - but want to keep the eye on the prize :).”
  22. Wow look at all those comments on their board. 100 Percent against Warren, they seem to dislike him even more than I do. Good for them- same opinion as I have- guy is incompetent, over his head and will never be fired.
  23. At the end of the day, this free agency allowing the rich and powerful successful teams to poach the best players off of all but a handful of like programs will hurt the game immensely. You are a fan of a team that has success on an occasion where they catch lighting in a bottle. Now with that scenario being nearly impossible and if it does happen it only lasts for one season. How long does that program survive? They only get worse, then they disband. That isnt good for the game. College players commitment is for 4 years- not the same for a coach- you cant expect a coach to have a lifetime commitment to a school. Maybe something where when the coach leaves- the player can too- that makes sense. This highest bidder poaching with immediate eligibility thing makes the college game even seedier- not a fan.
  24. There have been teams that have caught "lightning in a bottle" and used an influx of talent to parley into a season or two where said team is pretty competitive. If all the bottom dwellers get further depleted of any talent they do have- what kind of hope does that give their fans? Year after year of bottom dwelling with zero hope ever will dwindle the number of teams playing DI college football and hurts the games national appeal and draw.
  25. It was a PURELY hypothetical example. Yes will be interesting how some of the SJW player types use their money for themselves or spread it around to all their fellow teammates or other sport team athletes. Instead of telling others what to do- they could lead by example and walk the walk instead of talking the talk of virtue signaling and shaming others. Will be interesting.
