  1. I hear you. I see articles and comments all the time about how "unfair" it is that the biggest womans bball star makes a tiny fraction of what Lebron makes. Lets say Adrian lights it up and makes $300K- while Cam Jurgens makes $2k or Lexi makes $5k. Stuff like that is going to happen when you allow capitalism into amateur athletics. Supply and demand is what it is, people vote with their feet and dollars. Now if Adrian is a true socialist- he would make sure to spread his compensation around to all of his teammates- or require others to pony up to equal things out- which seems more plausible. LOL.
  2. Remember- Saban purges his roster and is able to take the full 25 almost every season. So yes, while they do get the best HS kids- Why wouldnt they want the best proven College Players instead? The incentive for the players will be there. You have some super stud cant miss kid- Heisman type at Illinois- no chance he stays if Bama has an opening and they can fill with him.
  3. I agree with you. However Im just not sure the real elite players would be interested in our team right now. Im a WR- looking at a team that hasnt exactly lit the scoreboard up or produced big WR numbers. Or a kid that wants to win a championship. Not confident we get those kind of kids. Bama and OSU get them out of HS and those they miss on- well now they will get them the second time around in spades with ALL the money, wins, NFL roadmap, stats, championships. Parity that some wanted so badly- never going to happen. The pay gap for us vs them shouldnt be that much right now- but if we continue to lose? We certainly arent at risk like those with small fan bases. We really havent had many players any of the elite would want- so we dont know just yet.
  4. Should have spoken up earlier. LOTS of tickets have been available at face or below most games the last few years. What gets me is Im offering a ticket for say $35 as I walk towards the stadium and someone offers me $10. A ticket with contribution cost me about $100. I always just eat it and soak up the extra 18 inches of room. Im done doing that.
  5. Yes, Nebraska can benefit some. There is support and that means $$. Sure we can steal players from SDSU, SD, KU, UNI etc- But whos to say we might be the "farm team" for the real elites like OSU, Bama, Clemson, GA, Notre Dame etc. That knife cuts both ways, relegating us to the middle. I always find it interesting when people who have a certain opinion/political bent actually have the ability to make a real life dollar decision that either validates that their philosophy is being adhered to or not.
  6. For the all for one- one for all- eat the rich millennial crowd. Not sure how this goes with- everyone should be equal thing. Maximizing your individual opportunity to the highest bidder without any regard for very similar pay of your fellow worker bees seems a bit inconsistent. The stud making 10x, 100x, 200x what a teammate makes seems a bit anti- comrade. Seems like this will create a tiny miniscule class of have teams with ZERO chance of the havenot teams ever having a chance to get into the Have class. LOL.
  7. For those already aggravated by the Transfer Portal- this is just the beginning. Once the Name Image and Likeness deal goes into affect- this year I think- the Transfer Portal will be on steroids. Scenario: Player A who is a WR and really good but putting up good but not great numbers plays for Bowling Green. He is making 10K in NIL at Bowling Green. He has proven he can play, putting up say 700 yards- but playing for Bama or OSU it could be 1000 and all the accolades and exposure of playing for a top program. Bama or Ohio State sees him. Bama and Ohio State starters at his position are making 120K in NIL a year- new car, nice trips, cool apartments- all over social media. How in the WORLD is Bowling Green or Kansas holding on to that player? Bama and OSU basically have many other schools as their farm teams of highly proven college players. How would the super rich ever have a non dominating roster?
  8. I certainly hope they do. However many of us have been getting used to watching the game in the comforts or our own home. With adult beverages and real bathrooms with no lines just a few feet away and nobodys knees in the middle of our backs. Too many times Ive had to eat tickets the last 10 years because of a poor opponent , bad weather etc- Had them for over 40 years, turned 1 of our 4 in.
  9. Another example the BIG doesnt care about baseball- the TV coverage. BTN + is awful. With the exception of the games in Lincoln, the production value is horrific. The Indiana game I heard didnt even have sound? I was watching in a bar- so it didnt matter but if I was watching at home- I guess you do the radio thing which is always out of sync. Our radio guys do a great job- but this is real amateur hour with the BIG putting their brand on display in such a backyard- lets get Aunt Millie to sew the costumes, cousin Fred will make the stage props and lets have Ted and Ethel do the announcing once they learn the actual rules of the game. Not to mention on Sunday that the BTN announcers didnt even know what the standings were or that Nebraska would really be the league champs if they beat Michigan Total BUSH LEAGUE
  10. I disagree a bit. Erstads teams werent mentally tough. WAY too many post seasons in BIG and Regionals 2 and BBQ.
  11. John Sanders had the very same mindset and Dave VanHorne showed him those ideas were off base. Excited to see Bolt copying the DVH playbook. Not sure how Erstad got sidetracked- we lost the edginess Nebraska was known for playing with.
  12. Hope he recovers completely and quickly Some quick research on this. WOW, lots of people in IC dont seem to like Bohanan at all, not sure why. https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/nk4c2e/iowa_g_jordan_bohannon_apparently_got_knocked_out/
  13. Those numbers are Van Horne baseball. Play aggressive, with an edge. Love how NU is aggressive on the basepaths, seems like they are picking up bases here and there about every game. Great defense and not giving away many walks. Solid pitching with fairly deep relief. A team that's aggressive at the plate but still is able to get a fair amount of walks. Mentally strong team that has the ability to hit all throughout the order and come back when down early. Van Horne also recruited the Midwest really well- then took kids from the hotbed states that may have been overlooked a bit. Seems like Coach Bolt is doing all of that- no shame in copying greatness.
  14. Setting up COVID protocols isnt like you are splitting atoms or preparing for the Olympics for crying out loud. Its just 4 small roster baseball teams playing an outdoor sport staying just short of a week- some leaving after a couple of days. One would HOPE and EXPECT the NCAA has a process in place and MOST of the places hosting probably are already adhering to some existing conference protocols. Weve been dealing with this thing for 18 months now- its really nothing new at all at this point.
  15. Bolt is recruiting circles around what Erstad was able to do. Bolt is a college coach with networks of contacts and credibility. That's paying off. See how quickly the program will turn from being competitive to being consistently at the top of the BIG standings. Which is where we all thought we would be when entering the BIG. Now just get that 400 lb dead weight of Kevin Warren dragging us down and be a force nationally.
  16. You may not realize, its possible to celebrate Nebraska's great season and to be critical of the NCAA. Those 2 are not somehow mutually exclusive in any way whatsoever.
  17. You had Iowa going 12-3 at WORST over their last 15 games. They have 23 wins now with 3 left- they are going to fall well short of 30. Iowa is 5-7 over their last 12 with 3 games to go- wow you missed that one by a country mile. You had Michigan sweeping Maryland. Maryland won the series 2-1. Michigan is at 26-15 with 3 games left with NU- looks like they fall well short of your predicted 32 wins. Make sure you stay away from the betting windows when it comes to BIG baseball- because your take on the conference is way off it seems.
  18. According to the NCAA Web site they dont consider teams- when picking game sites. "The designation of predetermined sites will have no bearing on the teams selected to participate or for seeding in the 2021 Division I Baseball Championship. The championship field will consist of 30 conference automatic qualifiers and 34 at-large qualifiers. The final 16 predetermined sites will be revealed at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, May 30." So you would THINK the NCAA would want a place hosting- having a link to a team. That would be too simple to be accurate I guess. Maybe the BIG has been taking bumbling stupidity lessons from the NCAA. https://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/article/2021-05-13/division-i-baseball-committee-announces-championship-host-sites
  19. The NCAA is a joke. They will crush a marginal program for buying a kid a burger but look the other way when someone like BAMA buys players or tampers.
  20. A&M is into the big name, big money hires- think Jimbo Fischer but in baseball. McDonnell will back the truck in and make a pile of cash at a place that supports , loves baseball and has virtually unlimited funds. Bolt is safe for now.
  21. 1 Seed in Pittsburgh would be great. Pitt has lost 7 in a row, but seem to have a knack for beating the ranked teams. Lots of offense.
  22. Coach Bolt has done an amazing job this season- he's a winner. NU was very fortunate to have players like Povich and Schwellenbach anchoring the lineup. Hard nosed guys like Acker, Hroch and Hallmark will be gone too. Will have to replace some offense and innings- but the cupboard is far from bare. With the leeway COVID gave for an additional year- what does Bolt have to work with next year? Looks like the pitching could be really good. Perry and Gomes are coming off of surgery. Bunz, Shanaman, Schreiber, Feekin, Wynne and Olson looking pretty good. Some nice talent coming in too- especially if Christo doesnt go pro What will be the starting lineup in the field? 3B-Anderson SS-Mathews 2b- Chick 1b- Steil C- Everitt oF- oF- Bajoff oF- Anglim
  23. Lets only burn down 5-6 buildings so it gets labeled- mainly peaceful protest.
  24. Congrats Will Bolt and gang- well done. Fun and entertaining season.
