  1. I'm of the belief that if we shore up both, improve quarterback play and improve our line performance, that some special things can happen. Thompson needs to do his part as does the line along with the receivers and RB's. Keep the fuel flowing too with limited errors. That's where the "spark" comes in. Some of this, some of that. BAM BAM BAM like cylinders firing.
  2. Both talent and coaching. We should find out soon which it was more. I'm inclined to say it was more to do about aspects of coaching. We got what we could get. It was decent but the development wasn't what it needed to be.
  3. Our offensive line play exposed Martinez's vulnerabilities. Better line play definitely would've helped us in that regard. What I'm liking about Thompson is his quick decision-making. He makes reads quickly and pulls the trigger rarely hesitating. Whether it's a single selection or multiple ones. He's making throws in rhythm with his receivers. Mickey will have these receivers running routes and getting open where things could really get clicking. Casey moves the ball and helps his team gets touchdowns scored. We don't need a superstar quarterback. Good decision-making for the opportunity for chemistry to emerge where things are in sync. An inch away can be a mile apart. We've just not had nearly enough continuity and flow in games. Only flashes of it. The offensive line needs to step up big for us. And, gotta have a reliable rushing game incorporated in. If we do that, we could be very good offensively.
  4. We're needing this type of threat badly. He could turn out to be one helluva return guy for us when we get things working around him.
  5. An area he can improve on is the deepest throws. He puts a fair amount of air under the balls. That's where he gets into trouble sometimes. Smart player though. Makes his reads well and makes quick, decisive decisions. Good maneuverability and decent quickness. It's adequate anyway. I like how he moves in the pocket too. Get it together O-Line!
  6. Therein lies they key. This offensive line must deliver. And it has to be quick. They'd better be pushing and shoving opponents around early right off the start and get better and better. Less that 231 days to the first game.
  7. Probably to some degree. What's in between the ears accounts for a lot for sure! It's difficult to measure things like tenacity or what only can be demonstrated over time under pressure time and time again. Desire, ETC.
  8. Recruiting rankings matter and they don't. Thompson will be an upgrade in many areas where Martinez struggled. He's not Joe Montana or Justin Fields. He is good though. The offensive line needs to kick it in the pants. NOW.
  9. The comparison has no resemblance. Logan isn't likely to beat out Casey Thompson. But, Logan Smothers isn't a Mr. Ed and Thompson isn't a Secretariat.
  10. Our problems didn't start with Mr. Riley. There is no Mike Riley curse. He was offered the position and accepted. He is a good guy and it wasn't a fit. Maybe our curse is that we were spoiled, complained too much and our athletic directors didn't make the right selections. When one examines closely, there have been a series of imprecations. How much is it worth to you!
  11. Bill Busch is a great hire and a truly good guy. I expect the coverages to improve considerably in particular. He'll bring things around.
  12. + A peculiar relationship with what defines *Commitment*
  13. We've got to light some fires. And quick! There needs to be a sense of urgency and no more dink'n around. Much of this is having a nasty attitude. It's time we put an end to being pushed around and instead be the ones doing the PUSHING.
  14. Laughter ensued at the mentioning of Greg Knox to the Huskers. Looks like he remains a real possibility. 1 piece at a time!
  15. When I first read this, I thought it might have been for remembering previous contributors to your board. I've dropped in off and on to read what Husker fans would have to say from time to time without being a member myself. I've really enjoyed reading the perspectives though the years. Lots of knowledge and meaningful input on Nebraska football in particular. I know of one lady that would pour her heart into making quilts for her team and loved ones that were fans. Anyway, if there isn't already maybe there could be some sort of dedication to those Husker fans no longer with us. A memorial of sorts in their honor. So many cool stories and commentaries that they shared and would be sharing! A space especially for them where you could share thoughts and memories in remembrance would be cool if there isn't.
  16. Personally, I don't like how frequent we can't watch our own games even within state without having to pay for viewing them or having a subscription. I don't know that this is one of the main contributors but it sure seems money/revenue and greed is playing a larger role in sports all the time. Wasn't how it used to be. Things worked pretty well. There are probably a variety of things hurting college football. I didn't read through all the comments and don't know what's been mentioned. I guess we need fancier uniforms, higher salaries and different stuff nowadays that we didn't have before to make it all function properly (Lol). Makes me wonder if I and others should make big cuts to our contributions to bring things more in line with budgeting issues.
  17. No? What causes you to say that?
  18. All's I know is that it has to be durable in nature with some degree of flexibility! Not brittle at all. If it is polished and shines and has a glistening jewel atop all the more power to it.
  19. Those in mobs aren't very wishy washy and typically follow up their words with action. There's a fair degree of wishy washiness on message boards and many couldn't back up their words in actuality when presented the opportunity. (Lol) What you really mean, I think, is tribes not mobs. People within said groups that are often affected by emotion and aren't terribly rational with what is professed.
  20. Greg Knox could coach RB's and coach special teams with another coach.
  21. He throws them all! Quite elusive too.
