  1. I am unsure him being 100% is the answer.
  2. Works for me. The more players want to throw up during the week the less fans will want to on Saturday.
  3. I think the starter should prove able to safely receive the ball from the center and hand it off without it falling into the opponents hands.
  4. That’s a good point. Though if we win all the time I think they would be just as happy with Kermit the Frog singing Rainbow Connection.
  5. As for rock, or music generally, for home game experience, I would love the see N use something that isn’t used in so many other stadiums and becomes uniquely identified for this team and the crowd.
  6. Well I sure listened to them all at one point. The Stones are in my option in another category. Not necessarily for a football game, but Gimme Shelter alone might be the most BA song of all time. Scorsese seems to think so too. KISS has never been a bad I took seriously, but my wife would argue with me on that.
  7. The only AC/DC song even mildly worth listening to due to the band’s overplayed music is far too inappropriate for the setting (Shoot to Thrill).
  8. I hope learning proper execution on everything on the offense is all the motivation and focus they need. The snap, running the correct play that was called, route running, blocking assignments and avoiding foolish penalties. Yes, that would be nice if they worked on those things, all game long, regardless of the score.
  9. “Rock out to them?” You sure must have been at the cool kid table lol.
  10. Lack of flexibility for the joint to be torqued in a direction, motion or extension that is unintended for its function and beyond its limitations?
  11. Hail to the King - Avenged Sevenfold. Well, it works for me on squat days at least.
  12. I agree and think it has to be more than a phrase throughout the year. Football is more than ever about attrition and depth. Let me make it clear, I am not at all saying injuries ever benefit a team. But the mentality that everyone must prepare themselves as if they are a starter each day, and individual and collective resilience to adversity, is the culture of great teams. This is a big loss, but having the attitude that they will continue to improve even without them is something that will be needed eventually. It unfortunately has to start now.
  13. You can never string together an association by beating a team, that beat a team, etc. But NIU of course beat BC. BC nearly shocked FSU today and I truly think FSU makes the playoff this year. What it does remind us is these are kids and each week brings new expectations and perspectives. I think today we saw a commitment to run the ball, a defense that swarms to the play, toughness, and the kids looked like they were having fun (winning does that, but I have not seen much energy the last few years).
  14. When HH drops back, not only is he able to safety receive the ball from the center, but I am not terrified when he throws a pass.
  15. With some more reps with the first team offense, I think HH gets his timing down with the receivers and uses his much better arm to broaden the offense. But the pressure for Sims is a political/money one (yet another interesting byproduct of paying players (legally).
  16. That some Husker fans don’t appreciate that 8 sacks on a top 25 team that is the talk of the nation is vast defensive improvement.
  17. A lot of really good teams struggled yesterday. Legitimate top 20 programs with realistic eyes on contending. The NIL and Portal have changed college football in more ways than some think. An easy fix, sometimes. More pressure, definitely. More impatience, certainly. Harder to develop chemistry early with some being paid, others not, friends gone, new players - unfamiliar with surroundings, new culture, crazy fans… Fans are fanatical. That’s the root of the word. If they ran a program they would have every player, coach and administrator fired each week, for some reason, in every sport from pee wee to the pros. Does free agency always produce exceptional and immediate results in the NFL? Not even close. You have to still build through the draft, just as in college you do in recruitment. College is more and more like the NFL and this adjustment is only getting started. Relax. We were not good at all last year and we didn’t play a warm-up cookie game. This defense has done an amazing job. They shutdown Minnesota all game and Colorado for a half. Colorado didn’t make great adjustments, they had short fields and eventually our D was gassed. They pressured all game. We all agree the QB play was a debacle. We cannot make it a place the next transfer or recruit passes on us. Having a top 25 class, and I think it could creep even a little higher, is amazing. .
  18. You know, I used to laugh when N used to have their first game against the University of the Pacific (they no longer have a football program and barely did then). But Coach Osborne used those games to have uncontested layups at game speed so things like fumbles were less likely to happen when running the option against tough opponents like Oklahoma or Miami. Even in the NFL defenses start faster than the offenses. Minnesota and Colorado are not FSU or Georgia, but they are not FCS either. We all think Sims should have been pulled at least at halftime. But he wasn’t. However, you can’t compare Colorado as a typical first year coach experience when he brought the quarterback with him, and it is his son. They are probably on the same page.
  19. We have a very solid recruiting class for a team that has not had a lot of success and that isn’t exactly in a state that produces many 4-5 stars. You know what really destroys recruit classes? Coaches on the hot seat. So just stop it! We have PTSD from this carousel and we immediately go into fire mode. That doesn’t work.
  20. Total respect. Integrity and accountability are only real when things are hard or challenging.
  21. Me too. But the hype train last week had some thinking they were on that level. I will be watching. The Ducks are fun to watch.
