  1. It’s not a talent issue. They’ve got some dudes. They play below their capabilities because they are coached that way. That’s just the easiest thing to blame. When you’re losing games, it’s easy to say it’s the talent. Nebraska has recruited well enough that it shouldn’t be losing even 1/3 of the games it’s losing. The players don’t know what winning is. This isn’t Kansas talent. This is and has been, a coaching issue, from day one.
  2. Well, Scott mostly had top 20 classes, until this past year, which was a small class. So, that all happened with lots of losing, right? Imagine what Nebraska could do if it won games? Effort and wins , and Nebraska can absolutely recruit top 10-15 classes. It just needs the right people working for them. Dedication, hard workers, hungry dudes, and smarts, and you’ve got a recipe for success. I’ve always maintained, you can win a national championship if you can constantly recruit in the 10-15 range.
  3. Unless you’re Scott Frost, and are too busy partying it up, too hungover to get to work on time. Lol. By the results, I’d say he was a horribly bad CEO.
  4. You see guys most likely not playing to the best of their abilities. You see dudes going thru the motions. You see dudes that are so used to losing, their zeal has been zapped. Give these cats a coach that knows what he’s doing, you’ll see real improvement, quickly. The easiest thing to assume is, these players all suck. They don’t. This is a 100% coaching, culture, losing and attitude problem.
  5. IMO, a good coach could win immediately. There are some dudes on this team. They need coached, and put into a position to have success. The most glaring problem, aside from the product on the field, is the losing mentality. The culture of losing. Correct that, and onward you go. This team has more talent than anyone in the west, better than Michigan State as well. It just looks bad because the team had been poorly coached. A really good coach could win now. No rebuild. Fill in the pieces. This is a 9-10 win roster with 4 win coaches.
  6. I think Mickey being named, gives the sellout streak a shot of adrenaline. Things were stale with Scott. It was the same crap every week. People are worn on it. There are 9 games left, most of the season, so go beat OU and flip this script? It’s doable. Chinnander sucks fiercely, but find a way to overcome it. So many think NU has no talent, but I’d argue it does have talent, but the talent can’t shine when rain clouds hover over everything. It does have top 20 (mostly) talent. Better than Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and many others, yet it plays like it all sucks. It doesn’t, they just need some direction and will to win. Start Saturday by taking out the Dirt Burglers, getting scoreboard on those chumps. Build from that. Again, it’s doable.
  7. I don’t know about identity, but you’ve got to be able to do many things well. Nebraska doesn’t do anything particularly well, except lose one score games. At the end of the day, you’ve got to have somewhere to hang your hat. Nebraska does not. Opposing coaches look at Nebraska on film, and probably think, if we just don’t beat ourselves, limit big plays and turnovers, they will give the game to us eventually, one way or the other. Hell, that’s probably Nebraska’s ‘identity’ right now. Chill, they’ll give the game to us.
  8. You can’t allow leaders to lead young people down the wrong path. I’d have fired his a$$ 3 years ago, but then again, he’d have never been hired. I’d send him packing right now. He’s useless. Dude sucks, and is a huge payroll bandit. It can’t get any worse. You’re already at the bottom.
  9. How on earth could it be worse? Nebraska is ranked 125th, out of 131 teams, so far in 2022, allowing 492 yards per game. Do you just believe in status quo, or, should you try something, anything to try to better it? It’s a no brainer. There are still 9 games left in the season. Standing pat would be poor leadership.
  10. This is a teaching, coaching and lack of development issue. Nebraska has recruited mostly top 20 talent. All of its players do not suck. They are playing losing football, the culture is of losing. No one said it will get fixed overnight, but standing pat after last night, would be stupid. Maybe Mickey has new ideas, personnel changes, defensive changes? We don’t know yet, but I expect a different vibe. We’ll see. Sure as hell can’t hurt.
  11. The Frost era was over, probably last year. He chose to keep a jv DC. Fate was sealed. Started 2022 1-2 in what most expected to be 3-0. Oklahoma is next. Give someone else a shot to somewhat save the season. What can it hurt? Nothing. Maybe Mickey has some new/better ideas, different personnel, different jobs for assistants? We don’t know yet. I think NU was DOA with Frost, so may as well make the change now.
  12. Mickey won’t lack for opportunity. He’s well respected as far as I know. I’m sure someone will gobbble him right up. I’m hoping he goes 8-1, gets the job, and kills it. Will he? No idea, but I’d love it.
  13. 100%. Change needed to happen right now. Frost was a beaten man. He was so done. You could just tell. Imo, he was checked out.
  14. Nebraska has talent. It’s not playing up to par. It’s a losing culture and hopefully, Mickey can inject some life into the program. You, nor I, have no idea what changes Mickey may, or may not make. The program was dead with Frost. The change couldn’t wait. Still 9 games left. Chinnander is a high school level coach. Maybe he’ll change that up? Who knows, but having some new blood, will not hurt things any worse than they already were.
  15. Yes. His a$$ should have never been hired. The DC job at this level is over his head. I wouldn’t hesitate.
  16. There are 9 games left. There was going to be no change with Frost in charge, so why not try something else? 3/4 of the season remains. Go 6-3 or better. The season starts now. To me, it was clearly a no brainer.
  17. I think this change gives NU the best chance to beat OU this weekend. No way was NU winning with Frost. The team will have some new energy, new purpose. You’ll probably see new players playing, different vibe, different plays. He has full control to do what he sees fit. Sure as hell can’t hurt, that’s for sure.
  18. Me too. Agree. He is a mid level coach. He should have never been brought to Nebraska. Frosts first, and most fatal error, was bringing a bunch of Pop Warner coaches with him. He did NOT surround himself with quality coaches. He didn’t give himself a chance to be successful.
  19. No idea what kind of coach Mickey will be. This is exactly how Dabo got the Clemson job. Taking over mid year for a fired Tommy Bowden. Never was a coordinator. Dabo excelled, and got the job permanently. There are 9 games left in the season. If Mickey could go 6-3, or better, IMO, he should get a shot at it full time. The season starts now. First up, the Dirt Burglers. There is enough talent at NU to win, now. I’m sure Mickey will want to make a great showing.
