  1. Championship meaning - SEC championship. Sorry I didn't clarify. I think those 2 coaches I mentioned would keep Bama within the top 2 of the conference and playing for SEC titles. With DeBoer, I feel Georgia will remain at the top, and Texas and quite possibly OU will be a tougher challenge for Bama to get the #2 spot. Toss in LSU, A&M, Tennessee..... it's going to be more challenging for Bama to make the SEC title game without Saban there. I believe Day or Lanning would keep Bama in the top 2 of the SEC.
  2. Tennessee is blue blood. Way more than you ever thought. But you ought to know this. They should be up in that 70% range. They started in 1902. Here is 100 years worth from 1926 to current. Look at their history. They won a lot. Just ask any Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi fan that is 30-80 years old. They will tell you about Tennessee. Let me know if see any good seasons. I'm sure when it happened, players, students and fans celebrated those wins in the 20's 30's 40's 50's and so on as if the Beatles were on stage. Or Elvis. Tennessee From 1926...to current days 8-1.........1926 8-0-1 9-0-1 9-0-1 9-1.........1930 9-0-1 9-0-1 7-3 8-2 4-5 6-2-2 6-3-1 11-0 10-1 10-1.......1940 8-2 9-1-1 7-1-1 8-1 9-2 5-5 4-4 7-2-1 11-1.......1950 10-1 8-2-1 6-4-1 4-6 6-3 10-1 8-3 4-6 5-4-1 6-2-2.......1960 6-4 4-6 5-5 4-5-1 8-1-2 8-3 9-2 8-2-1 9-2 11-1.....1970 10-2 10-2 8-4 7-3-2 7-5 6-5 4-7 5-5-1 7-5 5-6.........1980 8-4 6-5-1 9-3 7-4-1 9-1-2 7-5 10-2-1 5-6 11-1 9-2-2.......1990 9-3 9-3 9-2-1 8-4 11-1 10-2 11-2 13-0 9-3 8-4.......2000 11-2 8-5 10-3 10-3 5-6 9-4 10-4 5-7 7-6 6-7.....2010 5-7 5-7 5-7 7-6 9-4 9-4 4-8 5-7 8-5 3-7......2020 7-6 11-2 9-4 What I always liked about Tennessee, is that they are very similar to Nebraska. Decades and decades of winning. Both great programs, had great players, great teams, great coaches. Had to replace legendary guys.... had some bad luck coaching, some bad seasons during the last 10-15 years.....but they keep riding it out, grinding, rebuilding and bouncing back. Huskers had the excitement of being National Champions a bit more for sure. But both programs have been Blue Bloods through and through..... since Babe Ruth was swatting home runs and getting people excited about the long ball. And also, in 1972, Tennessee had the SEC's first black college quarterback. Condredge Holloway. Huskers are Blue Blood. Tennessee is Blue Blood. Know your stuff.
  3. @Savage Husker He really did take a career risk...with most players leaving town, a black eye on the University, in a state with a hot bed of HS talent, and a place that was starting to feel good winning for once under Briles. I'm glad you brought this up to show how Rhule can turn around negative things into positive situations. I saw quite a few of his games and his progress. Always liked him and was happy with how he flipped Baylor from Shame and Death.... to competing and winning and doing things right. Was also sad how some folks here at Nebraska turned there nose down at Baylor and continued their disgust even when Rhule was trying to do things right after a terrible situation he signed on for.
  4. I'm not going to derail this anymore. Just one last thing @teachercd from what I just told you and from what the Packers just did to the Dallas Cowboys.......kind of a big upset on the road..... and now you have a good idea how GB will do the following week (no matter who their future opponent is). It's that upset/emotional win that falls hard the weak after.
  5. I learned that little bit of knowledge waayy back in the day from an online bettor......believe it or not...... WalterFootball Do you remember? lol but it always stuck with me over the years and I still play it that way. The sport doesn't matter. It works like 9 out of 10 times. And those are the games I play BIIIG $$$.
  6. I saw your question before the game. But I didn't want to bring down the vibe and excitement. Having said that, I think by now you know it is universal and happens every year to everybody, when any underdog teams upsets a high ranked team, they come out playing flat. And never cover. Or nearly never cover. But usually they get beat down really badly. So I saw this coming a mile away, and just chalk it up to "games after emotional wins/upsets". Huskers were going to lose ugly in this case. Doesn't mean Iowa is all that better at all. BTW - those have been my fav bets in all sports for 10-15 years. When you see that super upset out of nowhere, you know they going to suck the following game.
  7. I'm just glad the new coach didn't end up being Ryan Day. Or Dan Lanning from Oregon. If either of those guys went to Tuscaloosa, I don't think Alabama would ever lose more than one championship every 5 years. Thank goodness those guys realized that with Saban gone, their own path to a championship just got easier. Plus they are already rich, they are the face of their winning programs, and their schools doll out good NIL deals. Alabama can't match that, and most players went to Bama to play for Saban and get to the NFL. So I'm very happy Alabama did the best that they could by getting a coach down the line to say "yes", DeBoer. Won't be easy following the footsteps of Saban. But I think Nick will help from an office as much as he can. The new Alabama #9 wins

LA Rams have been playing really really good. I don't doubt that they could win their way into the Super Bowl game. I like Stafford, so much respect for him. Love Puka Nacua. Great Coach. Pretty good on defense. But I LOOOVE this Detroit Lions team. Coach Dan Campbell. Jared Goff. Amon-Ra St.Brown, Sam LaPorta at Tight End. Penei Sewell (OT) Sagnow (C) and Aidan Hutchinson (ex-Michigan Wolverine) rushing the edge. They have a great new look with uniforms and a super cool stadium. This Lions team is 2 bad losses that they should have won - away from a 15 win season. That's very impressive. I like the winner of this game to get past the 49ers or Eagles. Will be happy if it's LA Rams. Will be super happy if it's the Detroit Lions.

    NFL 2023

I feel bad for NFL fans that don't get to see this game tonight (on Peacock). 2 great teams with dynamic offenses having to play the most important game to date, with -24 degree "real feel temp". By the way, nbc/peacock does the best pre-game coverage of anything out there. The players on the field taking warmup snaps look frozen. You see their breath when they breathe. The field looks like two-tone painted cement grass. The coverage crew guys on the field are saying it's frozen and feels like iced down pavement. Peacock shows the fans while the telecast crew talks about the game and the weather......you see the offenses running plays in front of the endzone.... it's really a great production for a football game. Rarely any ads or commercials like a normal football game broadcast. I hope the Dolphins win. I would love to see a great game between both teams (KC Chiefs are the Super Bowl Champs). This weather tho..... going to be about running the ball and defense.

Agreed. They Dolphins and Chiefs played in Germany earlier this year, and now in subzero weather for the playoffs. Streaming on Peacock. Per Weather Chanel - While snow is not expected, kickoff temperatures near zero are forecast, and lingering northwest winds will send wind chills well below zero.
  12. LOL I'm sorry. My brother @Mavric might move this to Peacock Sports thread - New World 2000 This weekend I am happy to say, because I do have Peacock, I will get to see the NFl payoff game - Miami Dolphins vs KC Chiefs If you don't have it, put your internet radio on and imagine. You still get to see the Steelers play Houston or the Browns or Buccaneers or something. Also heard the new iPhone 15 is titanium. Totally worth it $$$$ Miami Dolphins vs KC Chiefs..... Exciting and only on Peacock
  13. On record, stop complaining about Peacock and Husker sports. You are so sophisticated and buy things like an iPhone for $850 dollars every few years, you pay for electronics, PS4/5 and games, you spend for movie apps and subscriptions...... For peacock you pay for it the night you buy a $10 dollar ribeye steak to grill. In other words, it's not a suffering amount o pay for a service to watch sports and movies as you think it is. Just remember that your butt warmer seats in your SUV and iphones will console you...... With that steak on the grill
  14. I've had it for 2-3 years. It's not expensive. Has some Husker sports occasionally and some good flicks. I like it. I didn't watch the game tho bc I was under the weather and forgot about it. My gurl took me for Pho and after that we got under the blankets and she watch BET channel. Keeping me ok. Of all nights to watch a Nebraska game and all I could do was lay in bed and sleep.
  15. Washington had a great year and Penix should have won the Heisman for an undefeated season. But I was leaning toward Michigan to win last night. Mostly because Ryan Day was probably yelling at the TV.
  16. Good point. I've finally come to grips with it as time moves on. However, it's an interesting rabbit hole to go down to see how Michigan finished regular season at 1 and Nebraska at 2. Basically, we were ranked #1 for 3 weeks in a row, then beat Missouri in OT. Michigan was #4 and that same week beat #2 Penn State. The following poll on Monday - Nebraska was dropped after a game they won from #1 to #3..... and Michigan moved from #4 to #1. You don't see that very often. And that Penn State team that was ranked #2 ended up losing 3 out of their last 4 games. Proving they were overrated at #2. Later.... #1 Michigan beat #2 Ohio State (who had 1 loss earlier to Penn State but the Buckeyes were ranked ahead of Nebraska at this point). Huskers beat A&M in the Conference Champ Game 54-15. And had to beat #3 Tennessee (Huskers were up 42-9 with 4 minutes to go in the game). #1 Michigan did not play a CCG, but did get to play #8 Washington State. And the Cougars were never in the top 10 at any point of the season until after the regular season ended (jumping from #11 to #8). It never made sense to me. Oh well. That was a long time ago lol. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/nebraska/1997-schedule.html https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/michigan/1997-schedule.html

Back in the day I had drinks a few times with Dan Campbell and Dat Nguyen. So I am biased when I say I am excited and appreciative how the Lions are doing. Cool unis, great new stadium.... The vibe I wish him and Detroit the best But also, I feel like the LA Rams might throw a wrench into the NFC playoffs. 6-1 with the only loss being in OT to Baltimore Ravens...... I'm just saying

Y'all, the Dolphins are 11-5. With a pretty exciting offense. It has been sooo long to be this good and in this position. Really love coach McDaniels getting us good again........it has been multiple decades of losing or being average at best. It feels good RN for once. Having said that, I think the AFC will come down to Baltimore and Buffalo. Even though I feel that KC and Miami will be part of the playoff mix,...... Balt... Buff.... KC... Mia...... AFC
  23. He did way more than "He could be a 3rd down back" Just saying. And if your thinking about EJ turns out to be accurate, then that is ok. I'd rather run a bruiser on 2nd and 3 then on 1st and 10. But that's just me.
