  1. I'm not trying to throw dirt on Turner, but how can Buffalo claim they are the Co-Eastern division champs, when Bowling Green is 6-2 in the Divsion and Buffalo is 5-3? Loophole? IDK
  2. k thanks. until the freeze over, dont bet the farm.
  3. Dont even worry brotha dawg. It'll never happen. Most dont realize it yet. Need to tip off skersfan too.
  4. I know what you meant sCrUmptious. You can relate. So hang in there. Keep this thread going fellas, this is really positive and enjoyable to read.
  5. TO could beef up his team's depth with game experience during the softer non-conference games. But so did Florida State and Miami and Penn State and all the dominant teams of the 90s. As a Husker fan, and aside from the technical aspect of it, I would be more excited to see NU play three strong non-conference games every year.
  6. Aside from the physiological possibilities (damn that cracked me up!), you have to realize that A) Interceptions are part of the game B- deflections and tips by the recievers that get intercepted become good plays made by the defense C) When turnovers occur, it's then up to the defense to prevent scores (although they happened to be returned for TD or inside the redzone). D) INTs are never overlooked, but can be corrected for the most part through tape, teaching and experience E) is for elephant - is anybody reading this? F) Dude kept calling passing plays over and over and over and abandoned the run, making the defense play mostly against the pass (58 attempts). G) Ganz. It was only his third career start. H) the real reason he didnt start is unknown to us, or BC believed Keller was more polished. I thru Z) No Keller injury, no Ganz story to even clip the imagination.
  7. Ganz will be the clear front runner. It wont take more than a few highlights (game clips) to prove what he is capable of doing. His stats clearly show his accomplishments. No spring game will change that. Especially when you dont hit the QB, and it's not a real game. There will be a battle though for backups and competition to push the starter.
  8. I sure hope not brotha. Maybe the initial knee-jerk reactions will occur, but hopefully we will all rally and get behind TO's choice. Whatever is best for Nebraska.
  9. Weeeee! A poll! My preference is Chris Petersen. He's not on the list. "Other" just doesnt do him justice, in my opinion. So to keep the poll rolling, I will go with my second candidate. voted.
  10. They had a great coach long ago named Grant Teaf. He could coach, motivate, game plan, and recruit back in the SWC days. They havent turned it around since. It wouldnt take as much as it has. They have an amazing baseball program & womens basketball program too. Until a coach comes in and gets these guys to believe in themselves and win, step by step of the way, they wont get the recruits as long as they keep stinking. They get leftovers, which is not a bad thing, but no one is bringing the absolute best out of them. That's what a great coach can do. Get players to believe and overachieve by working them hard and instilling confidence while keeping them motivated and hungry. It takes only one class to get it rolling.
  11. I dont think Kansas or Missouri got that memo. Even though I want to agree and think it's all mirage. But it's not. Baylor can be at the top in 4-6 years like any of those programs, just like we hope to be. Kind of sad how it has turned out. But we will be back soon!!!
  12. Speaking briefly on Pederson, I thought he was a good hire at the time. I even loved the "mediocrity" comment. I did not like the new hire process or when he said they hired Callahan. I follow the NFL very close and did not want the football program represented by him. I tried hard to like Cally, but was too easy to see past the smoke and mirrors. As for Pederson, I didnt know a lot of stuff was going down until hearing it this year.
  13. It's probably a good move on his part. Houston has two schools (the bright ones go to Rice). It's also muggy and humid and hot there, where as Waco is just hot. And to compete in the Big 12 has more lure and attraction and storied program history than Conf-USA. Sounds more exciting taking your team up to Lincoln, Norman, Austin, College Station to play, than Tulane, East Caroliina, Tulsa (no offense my Tulsa brothas!), or Ala-birmingham.
  14. Very good points addison. I agree with you there are a lot of things a HC has to take into account such as game management, crucial decisions on whether to go on fourth or kick the field goal, etc. The reason I am so adiment on Bo's big time experience with NU, OU, LSU as well as his pro experience is the fact that I think these experiences weight far heavier under the bright lights of primetime on national television with national championships on the line. I just don't believe that these same in game situations are the same at Buffalo where I believe they only draw around maybe 10,000 to their home games. Don't get me wrong in game decisions that TG makes at Buffalo are still crucial I just don't think they carry the same wait as Bo's decisions, granted they are only on defense, but to me just the fact that he has had nothing but big league experience makes up for experience at low end schools and I am not just talking about TG either, it is the rest of the coaches supposedly in contention for the NU job. Just my thoughts as a arm chair QB/HC Its cool. I'm nowhere near a Pelini fan, but will support him if Dr. Tom says he's the man. I may not be thrilled, but I hope to get some type of curve to get adjusted to him.
  15. He mentioned the importance of the walk-on program and in-state recruiting, no change in expectations for excellence, and they way you go about it when it comes to winning and losing. That's as much as I can remember. I would guess he has a few close people he will have discussions with, most likely Charlie McBride & Milt Tenopir, maybe others.
  16. Redtildead, your post is well thought out and you are strong in your opinion, so I wont bash on you. "he has big time experience with big time schools." My thing about that particular view is... big time experience doing what? Defense? Yes, absolutely. But there are other specifics that only a head coach can gain as big time experience, like managing an entire game, special teams, offense, the whole coaching staff, the entire team, etc, etc. Although I do not agree with some of the things you said, it's because I do consider all those things more importantly than a defensive coach who's been successfull at extremely talented schools as OU and LSU. Just one example - He has never had to decide whether to kick a game tying field goal or go for it on fourth down with two minutes left of the clock. And own responsibility with his decision. Does he already know what plan A,B,C,D are and counter acting, or does he get to guess what to do while at NU and learn on the job? Now that does not cover all my points. It's one small fraction within a game only, that I believe where big time experience helps. Just my thoughts on it..
  17. I would agree that the search and interview process is definately going better than before. It appears TO (with the help of the headhunters) definately want to do a thorough job, making sure they talk to several people, and pick the best candidate for the program. At this time, I am very encouraged.
  18. I'm enjoying these stories. Keep 'em coming! My only encounter was a little different. It was after his first championship. While being interviewed after the game he glanced at the camera. I swear he was looking right at me. Consider yourselves lucky to meet him in person! I'm envious! in a good way.
  19. Yep, b/c Hoch and Steinkuhler are going to be studs on the line for several years. Whew!
  20. I have to admit AR that I got a kick out of your "If you have a short attention span, look for the red text in bold..." comment But I will not confess if I took the advice or not Yah man, I believe there is a lot of truth to that. I think other schools might have some interest. Personally, I think he may be in over his head, and that the Baylor job would be a good building block for him to kick start his head coaching career. It's still the Big 12, it's in the recruiting hot bed of Texas, you have great weather, and the expectations would be to get them to 8 wins and competitive each year.
  21. It was reported on 1620 Unsportsmanlike Conduct that Washington State is interested in TG. Thought I heard Price is going back to Washington state now They've opened some pretty classy strip joints up in Pullman since he left. Yep. If he gets the gig he'll be down at the Humperdolls shouting "Cooogers! Roar!!" "Wait! Give me that dollar back I'm not done!"
  22. It was reported on 1620 Unsportsmanlike Conduct that Washington State is interested in TG. Thought I heard Price is going back to Washington state now You mean "Roll Tide, Roll!" Mike Price? Hmm, How 'bout that...
  23. Regardless, I will be supportive whoever Osborne hires. Yep, even Pelini.
