  1. Manual Transmission Diagnosis - lube it here - I mean click here -If you hear growling or grinding noises when the clutch is engaged, the cause is the transmission input shaft bearing. -A squealing sound that occurs when the clutch pedal is depressed and held is usually caused by a bad pilot bearing or bushing. -A chirping noise that intensifies when the pedal is slowly depressed would indicate a bad release bearing. -If you hear chirping while idling in neutral and the noise goes away when the pedal is slowly depressed, the fork/pivot ball contact point is making the noise. -Noise that occurs only while driving or in a certain gear usually indicates a gear or bearing problem inside the transmission. -If a particular gear grinds when shifting, that gear's synchronizer is probably damaged and needs to be replaced. -If all the gears grind or clash when shifting, the clutch may be dragging or not fully releasing when the clutch pedal is depressed.
  2. The story I've been given is that certain people were agreed to by Bo and Tom. Many of the staff will be Bo's sole choice. Tom thinks Bo reminds him of Devaney in his early years and they seem to get along well. Anyway, they are working together to bring in a staff for Bo. Most of it will be decided after Bo is announced HC. This isn't just another made up post. The information comes via an old friend with statewide influence and University connections. It could be a bunch of crap but I think my friend is well connected enough that it probably is factual. When the AD was cut lose he got word to me about it well before the press conference announcement. Sorry, you'll have to wait at least 8 more days before you know for sure. P.S. Don't judge me by my picture. I'm smarter than I look! I see what you are saying Wally. My main point was that it struck me odd that a potential head coach would agree to his assistants, without the authority to interview his personal preferences. As much as I enjoy a good Pelini Circus thread, I will cut you some slack. I think you mean well.
  3. How come all the rumors always involve Pelini? Also, wouldnt the HC take some time to choose his own assistants AFTER he is hired? If dude agrees to someone else assembling his staff for him just so he can be head coach, then that is lame. Hiring OC and DC is HUGE. So if that argument gets brushed aside, then the intentions for this rumor is just another attempt at pumping Pelini sunshine. I'm just saying...
  4. I think the whole Steve Pederson firing was a temporarily diversion until the end of the season. The axe is mighty and it's a comin'. I dislike how the past month has been dramatized to death. It's been a crazy atmosphere everywhere. Cally tried, he failed, it didnt work, fans go crazy mad, media stirs the pot, hire Dr. Tom, finish the season, evaluate, and finally... wait for his decision. Nobody knows until Coach Osborne holds a presser.
  5. What the...??!! DAMN BRO!!! I would have knocked him into next Tuesday! As soon as he was finished... LOL kidding. That's jacked up man.
  6. Thanks for the nice words DCA. And thank you too knapplc!
  7. Hanc, you have some 'splaining to do.
  8. Would have been more interesting to see what Reece would have said if asked, "Who do you think would be a good fit?" instead of what was baited.
  9. Thought the black socks thing looked tough during 97 (Frost, Green, etc). Also liked the all red socks during the Crouch years (home games).
  10. I'm wondering, because I have no clue, after TO evaluates the coaching staff, does he make the decision on his own? Or does he solicit (poor choice or lack of words) a few good close friends for support with the decision? And then, if he decides to hire a new coach, does he turn to those peeps for that support for their input as well? Interesting... Who would those guys be? McBride, etc?
  11. I have no idea how he would do as a college coach. But he is a great NFL coach. He needs a certain type of player, and those players clearly understand what is expected of them and work together to win. He's a great NFL coach.
  12. It should be clearly understood that you dont win on paper. The potential is there though.
  13. Will be interesting to see if some of these recievers can become playmakers. And the LB situation - will be interesting to see how they develope as well.
  14. I was hoping we would score 80 or 90. I felt happy for the players and the coaches. I enjoyed it a lot. Especially after getting whipped the week before, and all season long. It felt good to drop 73.
  15. Took the time, did the research. Whoever is the coach, or returns as the coach, the talent, experience, depth, and new class looks very promising. 16. I think the best thing for the Huskers is to prepare them to play all out with confidence and nothing to lose. And it was actually Bill McCartney (promise keepers guy) that started the whole rivalry when he became the coach. He said CU didnt have a rival when he got there. So he pointed towards NU, circled it in red, and wouldnt even let his players ever wear anything red. The heated torch was then passed on to Rick Neuheisel, then to Gary Barnett. I'm not sure if they are allowed to wear red since McCartney, but they did continue the rival and big time hate towards NU.
  17. I'll stop you right there. This is my answer: Leader. Courage. Winning Attitude. Patience. Teaching ability. Listening & caring. Managing skills. Open Door (for players, coaches, AD, coworkers, former players.) Honesty & integrity. Focused & driven. Sportsmanship. Humility. Embrace Husker Tradition. Some previous experience as a college football head coach. Highly recommended by people who previously worked with him. No history of shady behaviour. Puts players and coaches in positions to succeed at football & life. Has experienced winning as a player and coach. Is a classy individual to the media, the fans, and to the opponents. Can take a loss after a game with praise to the other team, and a "we'll get 'em next time" attitude.
  18. after all of the heat the BC has taken for the throat slash, do you really think Husker Nation would want a coach that show emotion one finger at a time Maybe when Glenn flipped 'em off he was saying that.. he... had it up to here.
  19. Of course the team should go to a Bowl if eligible and invited. Wouldnt be the first time the Huskers played & won a bowl game without a head coach. FLASHBACK. I can only imagine, the Huskers rally a bowl game victory with an interim HC, such as Watson. Chants of "We Want Shawn!" "We Want Shawn!" echoing after a victory. And offensive linemen talking about how they would block wind and rain for Watson.
  20. Welcome to the board. And thank you for taking the time and providing some insight. This is some good stuff to consider.
  21. ETR, I know what you are saying. No one likes to see a man beaten down to death. I will also say that he had a chance to come across as humble man, take it on the chin, admitt to some mistakes, embrace new ideas. Simple stuff. Instead he spins everything and has been beyond egocentric, full of pride and arrogance. The whole ride. The entire time. I cant sympathize for someone like that. Not one time in his four year career did he call Steve Pederson "the higher ups". He is slapping Dr. Tom right in the face each time he says that. He keeps distancing himself from Nebraska, the fans, the supporters, the AD, the chancellor, etc. I wanted him to do well here, but he never got it. Instead of adapting to the Nebraska way, he wanted Nebraska to adapt to his way. Dude is outnumbered.
  22. Even a return of Cally/Coz? You guys are just too funny! And thanks, X , for throwing in Solich. Hah hah! I think y'all know what ah mean.
