  1. Good article. Hope it goes well for Marlon and has a great game!
  2. I'm thinking the D will disguise their coverage packages and blitz a lot. I'm hoping for big plays from Carriker and Moore.
  3. Me too. I'm excited, anxious and yet, nervous. Typical big game feelings. Can't wait for tomorrow night! GBR!!!
  4. Mark May cant stand Trev Alberts or Nebraska. It's his way to be a prick.
  5. CFN Big 12 picks (Sorry if it's a repost somewhere out there) Big 12 Game of the Week Nebraska (2-0) at USC (1-0) 8 pm EST ABC Saturday, September 16th Why to watch: Don't laugh. Don't snicker, don't sneer, don't guffaw. Ready? ... This might turn out to be the game for the national title. Fine, so there are about a bazillion other teams out there that would happily challenge that notion, but it's hard to ignore how Nebraska has become a balanced, championship-caliber team on both sides of the ball with a running game to help the ever improving passing attack. The defense has a defensive line on the verge of breaking out and a secondary that, well, more on that in a moment. Yeah, the two wins have come against Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State, but this still looks like a Husker team on the verge of huge things. With Texas looking vulnerable, check out the remaining Husker schedule and find the one, sure-thing loss: Troy, Kansas, at Iowa State, at Kansas State, Texas, at Oklahoma State, Missouri, at Texas A&M , Colorado. Sold yet? If Nebraska is good enough to be USC at USC, it's good enough to blow through the rest of its schedule on the way to a likely rematch with Texas in the Big 12 title game. Of course, there's that little matter of getting past the nation's best team. No, it's not Ohio State, it's not Notre Dame, and it's not someone in the SEC. At the immediate moment, the most talented team in the land is in L.A. with an offense that'll be every bit as effective as previous versions and a defense that should be better than last year's. In other words, this game is a must watch in a weekend of must watch game. Why Nebraska might win: It'll all be about tapping the Booty. Nebraska's defense led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss and has all the parts back, While the group hasn't been up-to-2005-snuff so far with only two sacks and ten tackles for loss, there have been some suggestions that the coaching staff didn't exactly turn the dogs loose over the first two weeks in order to keep things under wraps a little bit. USC QB John David Booty has been around for years, but he hasn't faced the pressure he'll see on Saturday outside of a few intense practices. If he's getting popped, the Huskers have a great shot at pulling off the upset. However, if Booty gets a wee bit of time to go through all his reads and let his receivers work deep ... Why USC might win: ... the Trojans should be able to call their shot and score at will. Don't let the numbers fool you; Nebraska doesn't have the nation's 11th best pass defense. Nicholls State is a pure running team that failed to complete a pass last week in the 56-7 loss. Louisiana Tech wasn't exactly sharp in its passing game, but it came up with 238 yards. The Huskers might have blinding speed in the secondary, but they don't have a lot of experience and are still trying to make all the parts fit after injuries struck early. That's not a plus when facing the nation's best receiving corps. Who to watch: Does USC have the defense to slow down the Nebraska offense? The overall talent is there, and the linebacking corps is out of this world, but top players are getting picked off by injuries. Starting DT Sedrick Ellis will be out for a while after undergoing knee surgery after suffering an injury in practice. That means Chris Barrett and Fili Moala, who have a little bit of experience, have to play like grizzled veterans. In the secondary, Taylor Mays will try to replace Josh Pinkard after the senior got knocked out for the year with a knee injury. Mays is an NFL talent waiting to blossom, but he's only a freshman and will be picked on right off the bat. What will happen: This will be Nebraska's coming out party. The offense will put up big numbers and the defense will come up with a gem ... for three quarters. USC will make a few adjustments and will hit just enough home runs in the fourth quarter to get by with a tough, tough win. CFN Prediction: USC 38 ... Nebraska 28 ... Line: USC -18 Must See Rating: (5 skip the birth of your first born - 1 Dancing with the Stars) ... 5
  6. Vic, you are not representing USC fans very well. If you are living in the past, then you know USC lost to Texas and entered the season with a losing streak. All USC has done recently is beat up on Arkansas. But if you wanna go further back and live off more memories, why not go 5 years back and beyond? OH. All you hear is silence and crickets. The run? It's over. Deal with it. Or learn how to.
  7. I see what you're saying. Those are good points, I didnt know about the short scoring drives. My thing is this... Its not extremely significant how much talent (see Texas as an example) you have on your team, or if you have a so-called "super coach". The USC quarterback has one start behind him. And that's all. It's been two weeks since then. Taylor struggled in the beginning, I believe he said he was trying to not make mistakes as opposed to this year he feels he can make plays. Heck, even Vince Young struggled in the beginning. The pressure will be there. The defense will be blitzing to shake him up. We havent seen it yet and I believe there is a reason for that. If the Blackshirts do a good job at it, he will feel the pressure which can cause any inexperienced QB to make mistakes. I like our chances very much b/c their QB doesnt have that experience. You just dont win with myth and hype. You have to do it on the field consistanlty. As for the predictions that Eric put out there, I chose Nebraska to win this game. I still stand behind that pick. Even though this game makes me more nervous the closer kickoff gets. GBR!!!
  8. I thought it was a cool pic too! These articles were awesome!
  9. God Bless You! I hope I see you from Texas!!! GBR!!!
  10. Most people move to Cali and want to ignore where they come from. It's usually the people (mostly) that are not from California & live there that think they are something else. I've seen that first hand. USC has been dominate for the past 3-4 years, but they were terrible, not even on the map for about twenty years prior to their success. The 137 true USC fans remember this. The rest are bandwagon peeps. I guess then... If someone thinks Nebraskans are hicks, then I'm down with the hicks, my brothers and chicks! We are SO gonna kick some tail !!!
  11. Must be a slow news day in sports. I've never cared for Rome's opinions. I think the whole "bulletin board" material thing is so overrated. And you know, someone put a camera and a mic in Andres' face, and he spoke freely. And that's fine. Personally I think it's no big deal. Gonna be hard for those amazing, talented recievers to make big plays if they're not getting the ball, especially when the big dawgs are finally called onto knock JD Booty around and down like nothing he's seen or felt before. Got the feeling the blitz will be furious and mighty. Carriker, Moore, Turner, Octavien, Mckeon, etc..... Hey, this aint Arkansas!!!

    Congdon

He's been pretty accurate on his field goals during his short career. And those are points on the board. No biggie on the kickoffs. It's up to coverage/special teams players and coaches to handle up on that.
  13. Got to have extreme confidence as a DB. Glad our guys are feeling it too. At this point, I think it's the position we all are taking caution with and holding our breaths some. We'll be facing good recievers all year regardless.
  14. I'm out here in Texas, and when I hear these dudes saying they are better than Ohio State and should have won that game, Ohio State sucks, etc, I immediately think "idiot homers". I think our fans hurt when we lose, but wont be in denial just because we love our Huskers. Rooting for them with passion and following them makes us fans. And we're loyal. And very knowledgeable of other teams. And give credit were it's due. Humility I guess. Damn, we clap for the other team when they leave the field regardless of the score. A homer wont do that. Just great, great, great big red fans! GBR!!!
  15. Great question! Homer? Hell no. Bias opinion? Sure sometimes. I am loyal and love the Huskers no matter what. But I know when we suck, or the coaches screw up, or the talent isnt good enough, or when an opponent is clearly better, etc., and have no trouble acknowledging it. I just dont see our fans as homers. I think our fans are much more than that. Peace-OUT! and GBR!!
  16. Maybe they should hire Eric "The Public" Bienemy as coach and bring back steroids and hookers to the program. Sorry, can I say that?
  17. Welcome and enjoy! It's a great board!
  18. Didnt these guys play against each other in a bowl game? Holiday? I'm picking Oregon. Both UT and OU have shown me nothing at quarterback so far. Mizzou - Daniels did get some PT last year and it is paying off. He is looking good. So far. A&M - Same thing for McGee. He is looking good so far. ISU - Meyer is playing good as expected. Not heisman-like, but he is good. Tech - New QB, same system. The results are the same as stats go. But it usually takes a second year to become dangerous. Col, KSU, OSU, Kansas, Baylor - Nothing so far. Barely average at best. Neb - Taylor - 73% passing, 7 TD, 1int, second year starter. Brilliant! As a whole, the Big 12 is not representing at QB. No proven QB with experience and consistency = No given victory. (The same goes for USC)
  19. Cant say I'm shocked. But I do wish him well. He seems to keep killing drives.
  20. Agreed. And you dont have to limit your talents to just "recipe girl" either. This is a cool board. Stick around and enjoy!
