  1. I don't discount Bo's fire and I think that is something the team desperately needs. My concern is that the fire he has is great for a DC, but will be harmful as a HC. Fire is good to a degree, but isn't useful in every situation. He hasn't shown me yet that he can recognize when the fire isn't necessary and turn it off. I don't think any of the choices that have been talked about would be "bad" for Nebraska, I just think there was better choices out there than Bo. I think he can return NE to the top, I just worry at what cost.
  2. This morning, it has it as a tie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I like the concept that has been mentioned many times on this board, but keep wondering about the friction that may occur. Everyone has talked about returning to the tradition and that is clearly represented in Gill and his link to the program. I don't think that is so much represented by Pelini even though he did coach at the school. The question that I keep pondering is how Pelini would view and work with Gill? Pelini is going to look at the situation and see his OC was a player for the AD, the AD was in your OC's wedding, and, according to the news reports, been having constant phone conversations with the AD while the Buffalo head coach. Would that situation cause problems between the two or an unhealthy environment? So, while I like the concept of Pelini as Head Coach and Gill as OC, I feel this could create more problems than it would solve.
  4. Question for the board - What two assistants did Osborne fire? Thanks!
  5. I didn't play football, and I haven't coached football,l so if I am missing something obvious in football strategy because I am lacking those traits I apologize. However, when we are down 16-7 and on A&M's side of the field with two field goal kickers with strong legs, why did we go for it on 4th down rather than kick a field goal and maybe get within 7? Everyone complained last year when we had a field goal kicker that we wouldn't even try long field goal kicks, but now that we have two that can hit long field goals, it seems the coaches think we still have the old kicker. Not saying it would have made a difference in the outcome of the game, but to me it is just another example of the bad coaches we have.
  6. What is funny is. Souns stagger versus swagger. Sounds like stagger is the right word for the D, not swagger.
  7. Who did we lose on signing day and who did we gain? I saw the story on LJS about the guy (I think a LB)from Texas who decommitted, but I don't know the others that have been "mentioned" in a variety of posts. Thanks for the help.
  8. So what is the story? I looked around the board, husker extra and googled his name and didn't find anything to tell me the story. Please fill in a non-insider.
  9. Watched the 96 Fiesta Bowl again last night, and the ESPN voters are totally right that they are the greatest college football team ever. It was amazing to watch how deep at every position that team was. The rotations they ran on defense and offensive line, even before the game was out of hand, showed to me that the second team may have been the second best team in the history of college football. Some additional thoughts, 1) With so much talent, how Lawerence Phillips has wasted his life. 2) We should almost be known as Kicker U with how many good punters and kickers we have produced. 3) The game again showed what a travesity it was that Frazier didn't win the Heisman. I will say that he did make some bad decisions on the two interceptions he threw. 4) I still get chills watching the run at the end of the 3rd quarter that Frazier makes. 5) The speed of that team would match favorably with any team from this, or the last, few years. 6) What a master Tom Osborne was at calling plays. He just had a feel for the game that very few coaches have ever had.
  10. I missed the show and am wondering if anyone knows when it might replay so I could watch Herb cry?
  11. Well if the members of the HuskerBoard do their job the 1995 Nebraska Team will be facing the 71 Huskers in the final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . Its too bad the 83 team and the 95 team are on the same side of the bracket.
  12. I think what bothered me the most, is I have NEVER seen the players of the game being from the same team, and I have watched a lot of college football in my time. Can anyone else remember a situation where that has occured before???????????????? I would have gone with BJAX for the Huskers even though he didn't play the whole game because he was effective on the ground when he was in, and losing him changed the dynamics of the game.
  13. I love football outdoors. The Monday night game in Seattle was great to watch. Speaking of Minnesota, I used to go to Vikings games when they were at the old outdoor staduim, and feel the team lost its advantage when they moved into the dome.
  14. Does anyone have the line for Colorado game?
  15. Saw a story that the game has been chosen to be televised by ABC, but they are deciding between the 11 am and 7 pm slots. Oklahoma against A&M is the other game that will be televised that day in either slot. I think we will get the 11am time slot again.
  16. I have been wondering how the commentary on the game would be. I was guessing it was going to be Texas played wonderfully and pulled a win out with late game heroics and never mention NE, and it sounds like this may be the case. Out players should take that internallize it and take it out on the rest of the Big XII and the team we play in the BCS bowl game. Progress has been made, but there is still more to do. Hopefully we will continue to strike it rich on recruting and this will bring us all the way back.
  17. We definitely need to just focus on the upcoming games. I am disappointed, but we still have a lot of games in front of us and could have an outstanding season. As the thread began, there are a lot of tough games still in front of us that require the team's full attention. Hopefully they will not dwell and be ready to take their aggression out on OK State.
  18. I remember there being written about a large discussion among Heisman voters after the Feista Bowl that they had voted for the wrong player. Frazier was the better player and got robbed.
  19. Who would have thought after the first few games that Kansas and Iowa State would be the two winless teams in the north while Colorado would have a win.
  20. I like the Miami game too, but I am going to go with the 96 Florida game with Frazier's amazing run.
  21. The main NCAA Football page still has it at 1 am, but you are right if you go to the NE team page they have the right time. However, if you look to the right where the Big XII scoreboard is they still have that as 1 am
  22. I hope they haven't changed it, but according to yahoo.com's NCAA football site the NE-KSU game starts at 1 am on Saturday. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf;_ylt=Ajdixfg...xLG_CVzSN05nYcB
  23. Not to be dense but where on huskers.com is the list of TV stations that will carry the PPV? I found the radio station list, but not a TV list yet. Thanks for the help.
  24. Is huskers.com the best place to find out if specific cable systems outside of Nebraska is carrying the game?
  25. Being in Virginia I think I will not be getting the game. Has anyone tried to figure out specific cable systems outside the Kansas-Nebraska area that will be carrying the game? Thanks for any help.
