  1. If Martin ever does become productive on the line, I would guess it would probably be as a 3rd and long type guy. I can't see him effectively holding up the line and shedding blocks in the run game. I don't know a whole lot about how this stuff works, but here's a thought: Jared Crick to DE. He played one of the end positions against Missouri when we ran the Spinner, so why couldn't he play that spot in a 4-3? It's not like our ends ever get up the field with speed rushes anyway. It seems like our defensive line always emphasizes power over speed, so I think it could work. Crick -- Stein -- Rome or T-Moo or T-Randle -- Meredith. That sounds better to me than having Ankrah in the mix.
  2. I'm shocked nobody's concerned at all with the defensive line. There is going to be a huge drop off from Allen to Ankrah. I haven't really heard many good things at all from the staff/players about Ankrah's abilities, especially in stopping the run. And on that topic, our rush defense was pretty awful this year anyway. Now we move to the Big10? Yikes. I don't have the exact numbers (my computer froze the other day while in the middle of an epic statistical post ), but we gave up WAY too many rushing yards to the opposing teams between the tackles. Teams were getting 4-5-6 yards a pop against us. And that was just Washington, Okie St, ISU, A&M, etc. How do you think Wisconsin, Ohio St, Michigan St, and Iowa are going to do? We need to make serious adjustments up front or else it could be a long season.
  3. Props to the kid for not making a big deal out of this, unlike the dumb@$$ reporter. The whole thing wasn't set up very well anyway. I believe Bo that he would have let the kid call a play, but not DURING the game. This stuff has to get set up before. I remember Charlie Weis let a kid call a play once, and it was just "First play of the game, pass to the right". Anything more than that is just not going to be possible, especially in the middle of the game.
  4. There's going to be an abundance of Marvin sandwiches at the Training Table without him. Anyone know what the heck a Marvin is? Ekeler always orders one. Maybe it's just an inside thing between him and the lunch lady.
  5. It's all about expectations. We expected to have about 11-12 wins, and we had 10. Therefore, it's going to feel like a disapointing year. Now, if we had this exact season in 2004 or 2005, it would be a lot different. It's all relative.
  6. It has been made clear to him that he has that option for two years now. I meant that Bo can fire Watson but tell the media he resigned.
  7. 88th in total defense. thats not average, thats horrible. Saying they're average is pretty generous. Thats like saying Nebraska offense is "ok"(28th I believe) but you and I both know thats not true. Washington is 71st in total defense, that puts them in the 40th percentile. Oklahoma St is in the 27th percentile. That puts them in both the same quartile and quintile. Statistically speaking, they're pretty dang similar to each other. So why did we get dominated in the Holiday Bowl?
  8. If you would have read my post carefully, you would have noticed I said this offense can work, because it has worked. That does not mean it will/will not work in the future, I am simply saying that it has the potential to work. Yes, Oklahoma St's defense isn't really that good, but what does that matter when the pocket is collapsing? Taylor's ability to step up in the pocket and deliver an accurate pass downfield has NOTHING to do with the skillset of the players. Sometimes Taylor is indecisive, sometimes he isn't, and those things occur against both good and bad defenses. Why? I don't know, that falls on Watson. But, as my original post stated, we CAN be successful. Taylor CAN make the right decisions, CAN make the throws, and CAN kill other teams with his legs. The scheme isn't the problem, it's executing that scheme weekly. I would think that it's pretty hard to argue that. Look at Washington as the best example. One time it worked, one time it failed. That's our problem, and that's why Shawn Watson needs to go. Not because he doesn't know offense or his X's and O's, but because it only works about 1/3 of the time for a reason nobody seems to be able to figure out.
  9. After watching the OSU highlights, it's pretty clear that we are capable of running an effective offense with our current coaches and players. That video shows that well. OSU tried bringing pressure, they tried dropping 8 into coverage, they tried to fill the box to stop the run. Nothing worked. We executed the zone read effectively, play action was big out of the shotgun, and Taylor made quick decisions. He stepped up in the pocket when necessary, he made accurate throws, and his scrambling was great. Does that mean Watson should keep his job? No. We're too inconsistent, and what we did against OSU is not going to happen often. But it does show that the potential is there. Watson could have a great offense here; for some reason, it just isn't really working out so far.
  10. That was actually a big part of what Cally tried to do here. We appeared to have a lot more variety than we actually did. A good chunk of that 600 play playbook was the same screen or toss play, just out of different formations and with a different combination of shifts.
  11. Whoah! I tried this. Twenty seconds after I blew the candle out, I heard a knock on the front door. And what do you know -- there she was, the girl of my dreams. We're married now. Don't diss the methods! They work. I went from single to married to a hot chick in about 10 minutes.
  12. Damn, never saw this thread. I think I was something like 11-3 picking the spread on the Nebraska games this year.
  13. I don't think so. I can see him carrying something off the field, looks like the type of tee that holds the ball on the ground for you. (Without the black tee):

  15. Yes, Shawn Watson is awful and needs to go. I am by no means defending him to keep his job, but our offensive line is terrible. Just terrible. Sure, we can push around girly teams like KSU and Missouri, but what about when we play a team that's fired up and physical? We have no chance. Last night it was painfully obvious Washington was just going to load the box and run downs, and blitz the house in passing situations. It would have been nice to see a freaking screen pass, but the offensive line play was just unacceptable. Barney takes decently talented linemen and manages to get the worst out of them. Get that clown out of here.
  16. Those Big 12 refs had it out for Nebraska again last night, 12 penalties to 3. Bebe sure does hate the Huskers! What's that? Those weren't Big 12 refs? Your unimaginative play calling and lack of offensive play makers is the reason you failed to score more than 7 points again? Ya'll run along now and enjoy playing against schools you have no historical rivalries with in places like Champagne, Iowa City and West Layfayette. Thanks for leaving the conference by crying, pouting and screaming (just like your coach) the whole year. You left us all with a lasting impression of a bunch of cry babies. I guess If you can't beat 'em, leave 'em. Bye bye Have fun taking it up the ass for the next however-many years.
  17. The sun never came up this morning. Fact.
  18. f#*k Nebraska. f#*k Bo, f#*k Watson, f#*k ESPN. f#*k everyone, especially Erin Andrews.
  19. Adrian Clayborn is absolutely terrible.

  20. He's had a boot on his right foot in practices several times this year. I believe the week before the (first) Washington game was the first time he hurt his ankle. I'm guessing that it's been lingering all year, and as we have seen on the field, doesn't really affect him in games too much.
  21. Do you really think he can put aside his ego enough to do that? I don't.
