  1. Mississippi State, Minnesota, and TCU are still recruiting him. May take a visit to Miss. State this weekend...
  2. Would have liked to see this kid visit. Would like to see him in Bo's defense. Is there still a chance?
  3. Duke over Arizona State? I did not see that coming. I am sort of surprised this guy could not find a better place to land in the ACC, or maybe the Big 10 or Pac 10. I thought he might be one of the more overrrated Elite 11 QB's.
  4. I thought he might end up at KSU but looks like MN...good luck to him. I'd now really like to see Byrd and Cooper join this class!
  5. Bingo! I just want the best players to play...don't care if they are a freshman or senior, etc. If Compton is good enough then let's play him! Anyone know how Austin Stafford is progressing? Does he project to see snaps this upcoming year or is he too deep on depth chart?
  6. Forgot about Waggner...yes, I like this guy. We need CB's. Doesn't look like we will replace Eddie Brown's spot on the D-Line? Who is a NU lean at D-line still on our board?
  7. I would like to see WR Khiry Cooper be N! Cooper visits upcoming this weekend. With the addition of Bell and the Osborne Bros., it is difficult to know what room we might have at WR. I'd like to see Cooper and Byrd. Brod. Smith at WR would be a good pick-up also. I think PJ Smith should hopefully be solid to us. I think Mitchell and Rogers appear to be excellent prospects and would love to have both these guys.
  8. Committed to Oklahoma. :spooners (...couldn't resist)
  9. Linky here: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=An...e&type=lgns I like how Compton says he has the goal to start next year and not redshirt. Time will tell but I like the attitude of players coming in wanting to play and I truly believe Bo is going to play the best guys. I noticed the Pete Carroll talk from above...that's the way it works at USC, you earn your playing time and compete for your position week in and week out. We need to foster this attitude here as it took a hit under BC's leadership. There is no other way under which the Blackshirts can be brought back!
  10. From Husker Journal: JANUARY 25, 2008. PREP STAR LARON BYRD, WR, 6-3, 210, 4.5, BOUTTE (HAHNVILLE), LOUISIANA “I visit Nebraska this weekend. I leave for Nebraska Saturday morning, I have a basketball game Friday night.” said Byrd, “Coach John Papuchis is recruiting me. I knew him when he was at LSU. JP is a cool guy. Buddy Wyatt was recruiting me when he was there.” “Nebraska coaches didn’t say if I could play early, it would depend how I perform. I know Nebraska’s defense needs some work, but I play offense.” “If I like it at Nebraska I would not commit on the spot, I would come home and talk it over with my family.” “Nebraska has great tradition, a powerhouse. Mo Purify did well there that’s one reason why I would consider Nebraska.” “Auburn has a new offensive coordinator, Tony Franklin.” he said, “Auburn is going to change their offense some. They are going to throw the ball more. I thought Auburn would mostly run the ball more.” “Sylvester Croom (Mississippi State) is a real cool guy.” said Byrd, “Mississippi is a laid back state. Is not a party town, it’s a quite city which is OK. Its (the university) is kind of in an isolated area.” “Tulane was the first school to offer me. I really liked it there.” he said, “They have great facilities. The training room is like a doctor’s office, if you’re hurt that’s the place to be.” “Tulane is a private school and the education is great. They are only a 30 minute drive from home. Coach Johnson is my recruiter.” “I went to Miami’s camp last summer and they told me I was a real good player, and they would keep recruiting me. I like Coach Shannon, he has sent Miami big name wide receivers to the NFL.” he said. “Miami has commitments from two 5-foot 9-inch receivers, none my size. The two they have now might play other positions.” Laron’s recruiting visits: Tulane (12/17), Auburn (1/11), Mississippi State (1/18), Nebraska (1/25), Miami (2/1)
  11. Damn!!! Ugghhh.....sooooo lame. Ugghhh as well...dissapointed with this kid and this situation. Looks like we need to move on and find someone better.
  12. Quack...committed to Oregon.
  13. I really like this kid on Pelini's D-Line. A&M has our old D-line coach...I liked Wyatt and all...but no offense, Wyatt is no Pelini. Brown needs to stay N !
  14. Glad to see Will is back N to stay! I thought he wouldn't be able to pass up playing for Pelini's defense.
  15. Sweet...both of these guys look to be excellent prospects in the playmaker mold. I like these guys Bo and crew are targeting.
  16. Suh & Dillard - to be the players we know they can be Thenarse - ballhawk all over the field Murillo - the INT is back...we missed you Turner - we missed you also Asante - possible move to LB? I think he could thrive here sleeper: Blake Lawrence to emerge and kick ass
  17. This guy better get his Youboty in gear if he wants to play here! We just landed Eddie Brown...can't tell if Youboty will be another D-line addition also. I suspect we have a very good chance with either Youboty and/or Jacquies Smith.
  18. Wecome, Eddie! I agree with the other recent posts...great to have this kid. I like Bo putting him on the D-Line to wreak havoc!
  19. This kid has been on a roller coaster with his recruitment and his surgery. It does look like he ended up just taking the safe route close to home but don't know if I can blame him. Will Brian Kelly even be at Cincy during hs entire time? I am guessing not. I also wish he would have just stayed here with us. Good luck to him.
  20. Linky: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Al...e&type=lgns Quarterback recruit commits to Nebraska By Chris Rosacker, Daily Nebraskan January 16, 2008 (UWIRE) LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska coaching staff received a late Christmas present, but in this case, the timing couldn't have been better. Kody Spano, a 6-foot-2, 202 pound quarterback from Stephenville, Texas, committed to play for the Cornhuskers just before the new semester, allowing him to enroll in classes right away. Because he has already begun taking classes at NU, he will be able to participate in spring practices, which begin in about two months. Initially, Spano was set to begin classes at Oklahoma State this semester. But when the OSU staff informed him just days before he graduated that he would have to wait until June to enroll, he reopened his recruitment. That's when Nebraska came into the picture. Spano arrived in Lincoln, Neb., for an official visit on January 4th and stayed over the weekend. "The visit went real good," he said. "Everyone wanted me to be here." Kody's mother and father accompanied him on the trip to Lincoln. His father, Kyle, who coaches the offensive line at Stephenville High, understands exactly how important building relationships are with your players. "I told Kody, '99.9 percent of the universities are going to have facilities, but you live with people, not facilities,'" he said. And he was more than sold on the new NU Coach Bo Pelini. "He's just so spirited," he said. "When you visit with him, you can feel the electricity. He's going to bring excitement, and the kids are going to have fun playing for him." After a handful of recruits decommitted from Nebraska in the wake of a coaching change, Spano could calm the nerves of message board addicts across Nebraska. As a senior, Spano threw for over 2,190 yards and 23 touchdowns, according to Rivals.com. He also accounted for 11 rushing touchdowns, and is the No. 7-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the nation. "He gets a kick out of running the football," Kyle said. "He won't run out of bounds either. He'll take on the safety. He plays the game with some swagger and some confidence." And while Spano's skills on the field are impressive, his father believes Nebraska is getting an even better person off. "He's a great kid," he said. "When you talk about his character and how he treats people, he does things right." That certainly won't hurt Nebraska's cause. After a hectic search for another quarterback, the Huskers seem to have found their answer in Spano. And his parents couldn't be happier. "They (recruits) are still just kids, and coaches need to be personable," Spano's mom, Kimberly, said. "Kody felt welcome at Nebraska, and that made leaving him a whole lot easier."
