All you soccer guys. How with as poor as our offense is can our defense be that bad too? You'd think if our offense is bad its b/c we arent commiting our guys up, but then we can get beat back so easy even with numbers. I dont get it.

Yes, Ghana is a decent team. And the US would be expected to make it out of the group stage in many of the other groups. However, everything I've said is 100% true regarding the state of soccer in this country. It is getting better, but very slowly. And it will continue at that pace for the reasons I've listed.

The simple fact remains that in the US, soccer isn't important to many people except during the Olympics or WC. And even then, it's just a passing interest because it is the nation competing. When you look at the average quality of player that comes through our system, it's very, very poor compared to what many other countries have.
