A couple of days ago, I saw that First National Bank of Omaha commercial where they are blabbing about what a great bank they are and at the end of the commerical they show Callahan catching a football. Now saw it again tonight and he was taken out of the end of the commerical... Just saw again a few minutes ago and now Bo Pelini is in the commerical Just kidding, but did think that was kinda funny/interesting about Callahan. Either FNBO knows something or just decided to take him out since he may not be here that much longer. Scott

I've been on here since the OSU loss and haven't really been on that much this year but wanted to share a couple of thoughts.... I've been a diehard Husker fan my whole life and I've seen some painful losses (87 when we and OU were #1, #2) but none were as painful as getting destroyed at home for homeconing by freaking OSU. I called a buddy of mine at the game and he said he was staying but our other friend who lives and breathes HUsker football threw his ticket in the air and left after the 1st quarter. I don't agree with him doing that but it tells me how far the the program has fallen when someone whos as big a Husker fan as him leaves that early. I watched on TV until the 4th quarter and prob like a lot of fans in the stadium I was in shock. I haven't been to a game this year and I honestly can't remmber the last that happened. I'm just tired of the heartache it hurts too much. If we have to go through coaching changes and more losses than fine. I just want the program back to the glory and splendor that is Husker football. There is NOTHING I mean NOTHING like being in a sea of red and listening to the tunnel walk music its pure electricity. People I know outside of the state just don't understand nor do a lot of the people on boards understand why we are the way we are. Its not because its all we have, its simply because the heart and soul of this state is our football team. I remember when I was a kid in late November in the 70s, watching the NU OU games and not feeling my toes becasue it was so cold. The smell in the air of Runzas and Husker dogs. Being on 72nd Street in Omaha after our win over Miami in 94. Its the best place in the world to be on a Saturday in the fall. Its so ingrained into our childhoods and lives that many people will just not understand. Its sad really that they don't have the love for their teams like we do for the Huskers. Its why we've been called "the best fans in college football" We all have hurt this season over the team but now the excitement is back finally and people around the country now that we mean business and not to ever count us out. I hope and pray all of you at the game Sat cheer and hard and loudly as ever because with TO back we're going to reach the pinnacle again soon. If you recall TO said no changes were expected in coaching staff till end of season, doesn't mean coaches can't just "resign". I do honestly hope for a win this week but if we lose......bring on Charlie and BO!!

So the rumors about McBride as interim HC wasn't just BS. Why McBride other than maybe he could fire up the players and we could get the "blackshirts" back. So does this mean that Pelini is in for next year? If McBride brings in Sanders, pelini wanted him back anyway. Do you think Watson would stay as OC or try getting a HC job? This is silly. You've double counted recruiting. And both your "probably"s are wrong. UNL has deper pockets, and we dont have to pay as much to buy out BC as you do to buy out Fran (unless the Booster scandal gets you out of it, even if it does I still think we have deeper pockets) and as far as I know we have far superior facilities. We will not have to pay fran all of his contract - the word is they are talking one year. Please we have much more money to outbid you if we want to. We have a brand new indoor practice facility, A newer stadium with nicer vip areas, a brand new athletic complex with video rooms, lounges, weight complex, study rooms ( Not needed at NU), etc etc etc The recruiting was not double counted one was about the closeness the other was about out of state recruiting. Not to say they are going after BO - I think if they can get Tuberville without a buyout penalty they might go that way. Just friendly speculation. Study rooms (not needed) I just read that, why don't you go look up the number of Academic All Americans we've had at Nebraska. We've always had one of the highest graduation rates for athletes of any top school. Do your homework before you made an idiotic statement like that on a message board. TO also said on Monday that he hasn't spoken to Perlman about the AD job and then we find out today that he was in Cally's office on Friday.....ummm why would that be?? And then Perlman admits that he talked to Osborne on Sunday. Don't believe everything you hear in press conferences. From what I heard Buffett was giving $40 mil to the general fund which could be used for the athletic program. Its not like $40 mil is even a drop in the bucket to Buffett and Walter Scott Warren is a BIG Husker fan so I wouldn't be suprised. I had heard that Buffett was giving around $40 million a year to the university and it quit a year ago. He had said that he would resume the $$$ which explains why they can buyout the contracts. Also involved were Walter Scott and David Sokol who all have worlds more money than Dan Cook. There are more than enough rich Husker fans to take the place of a whiny old egomaniac like Cook.
