  1. Calm down. At the time when Lesnar got a title shot the HW division wasn't as loaded as it is now and he was the best option. The WW division is/has been loaded for quite some time. Jake will get a title shot eventually. If he strings together another couple of wins he will be right back in contention.
  2. I watched very little of TUF this season. The little I did watch was just the fights. I would just fast forward through all the training and in house drama and watch the fight(s). But I didn't even see all the fights. Some of the episodes I would just delete off the DVR without even watching. This is the first season since season 4 that I actually missed an episode. Not sure if I'm burned out on it or what the deal is but I just wasn't really interested in it this season. All that being said, I'm really looking forward to the Ellenberger/Kampmann fight. Should be a good one. I see Ellenberger taking this one though. He has been a beast since coming to the UFC. Really hoping to see him fight Condit again, seeing that I believe Jake won that fight and Condit got a lucky decision.
  3. Really looking forward to this card. It could be a very short main card.
  4. Que the Sugar Bowl being bigger than the Rose Bowl if they land this SEC/Big12 match-up. The game will definitely draw big TV numbers.
  5. The bowl games will still exist. What the Powers That Be are concerned about is, what happens to the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar and Orange bowls when the top teams are playing in the playoff? Their attendance and TV viewership will drop down to that of the next tier of bowls, and they don't like that. I'm still baffled by what it is about the situation that makes Jim Delany, the rest of the Big Ten, Tom Osborne and Harvey Perlman so staunchly defend the bowl games? I'm afraid that there's some ulterior thing going on, some back-room deals being made, that makes them so utterly support what is clearly a dying event. I don't suspect Osborne or Perlman of nefarious dealings, but I've learned over the years to never say never. I don't want some shenanigans coming back to haunt UNL. We don't need the bad press of our Great Coach being caught with his hand in the cookie jar. That is what bothers me, too. I don't understand why they would want their fans money being spent in areas that don't benefit the schools and the local area where the university is located. It's so ridiculous. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I can't stand the bowl games and the bowl system. It's so corrupt. I keep saying this but if you haven't read 'Death to the BCS' then go read it now. And if you read that book and still firmly are against a playoff system and still are in favor of bowl games then you will never change your mind.
  6. All great points and couldn't agree with you more. I just don't get the fascination with the Rose Bowl. It's just another bowl game to me and I don't understand all the love for it. Maybe it's because Nebraska hasn't been in the Big Ten for a long time but I would hope to think that I would still feel the same way if Nebraska had to a member of the Big Ten for 50 years. It seems to me that T.O. doesn't feel the same as the rest of the Big Ten about the Rose Bowl but he doesn't want to come out and say that.
  7. And here is a perfect article about this: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--big-ten-surrenders-fight-for-on-campus-playoff-games-for-wrong-reasons.html;_ylt=AiGhlw5J2ZTUrTpisiszGng5nYcB
  8. I'm 30 and agree with you. The bowl system is a sham and seems a vast majority are buying in to these old out of touch university presidents and conference commissioners. Get rid of all of them!
  9. We all see it one way or the other. I for one hope the Bowl's can be used in this new playoff system. You know, I remember when we sat on pins and needles hopping for the Gotham Bowl bid. Just being chosen for a bowl game was a big deal in Lincoln and through out the state. We didn't think we were going to win a N/C every time a new season started, but just wanted to be one of the players at the end of the season with a bowl bid, and try to win it. Maybe the bowls don't mean much to the newbies on here, but growing up with the Huskers in the 60's, it meant everything to us as kids. The Grand Daddy of them all, was one we knew we would never be able to play in. The Rose Bowl was out of reach for so long for Nebraska, now its there every year. Maybe we were just lucky to grow up when getting a bowl invite meant you earned it. I understand how watered down a invite is today, but I still like waiting to see where the Huskers are going, and knowing at the start of each season, we now have a chance to play in the Rose Bowl. To want them to crash and burn, or forget the tradition of these bowls,is something I can't understand. If its National Champs or bust for some of you, then I guess it won't be much fun watching the Husker play most years. I want the N/C as much as anyone, but I want to see us in a bowl game at the end of every season, that's a reward for players and fans for a good or great season, and I hope its always the Rose Bowl. GBR!!! Using bowl games for playoff games sucks for the fans of the participating schools. How do they expect the majority of fans to travel to two games on back to back weeks. It just makes no sense what so ever and these out of touch AD's, University Presidents and conference commissioners need to get over themselves. On campus sites for the first two games make the most sense. Then bid out the championship game at a neutral location just as the NFL does. There will still be plenty of great teams to fill all the crappy bowl games.
  10. Agree with the need for a selection committee. That makes the best choice in my opinion. Also, I don't get a crap about the Rose Bowl and I'm sick of hearing about preserving the Rose Bowl tradition. Ugh, enough already. And having playoff games at campus sites won't destroy the bowl system. Actually, I hope the bowl systems goes down in flames. The vast majority of the bowl game matchups stink and ratings aren't high for the games anyways.
  11. I'm wondering if they should at least reduce the 1st round in NHL and NBA to best of 5? That would be great if they did that. Or, what they should do is reduce the amount of teams that actually make the playoffs. 8 teams from each conference is ridiculous. The NBA used to have best of 5 games in the first round years ago. Not sure why they went away from that.
  12. I will watch some NHL playoff games but the playoffs last way too damn long. It takes over 2 months from start to finish. Way too long. Same with the NBA. Can someone please explain to me why they play a playoff game and then the next game is three days later??? And no, I'm not talking about where the teams travel to another city to play the next game, the game is taking place at the same arena. That just makes no sense at all. Play back to back nights. Then have one day off for a travel day. It's so hard to keep up with results and what team is winning the series. Same thing with the NBA. Enough already with dragging the playoffs out for so long.
  13. I use Google Chrome and I know it works in that browser. I'm fairly certain I have used Firefox at one time and it worked but I could be wrong.
  14. It's more about the death of the bowls, which is what made college football sui generis unlike any other sport in the world. now if you hate bowls that's understandable but also understand it means we're going to be just like everything else now. I don't hate the bowl games, I just hate having the bowl system, if that makes any sense. I want at least a 16 team playoff. Then, there can still be bowl games, a lot less bowl games, for the teams that didn't make the playoff. That gives them something to play for after the season is over plus they would still get the extra practices.
  15. It's a start but I would have preferred at least an eight team playoff.
  16. This seems to imply that there are no justifiable criticisms of ESPN, that it's just "the in thing to do" to not like them. There are myriad justifiable criticisms. And I've disliked ESPN for the better part of two decades now, so it's not a "trendy" thing for me. I'm going to go ahead and keep expressing distaste for them. If you don't like that, sorry. Please, enlighten me then....
  17. I watch it every week. Not the entire show but at least some of it. I don't understand all the hate on it. Seems to be 'trendy' to hate on it. Enough already with all the ESPN hate. So tired of hearing fans of EVERY college team saying ESPN hates them. Uh, yeah, okay. Get over yourselves.
  18. Everyone, I have a very important announcement to make. And I need all of you to stop what you're doing and listen.... ^^This guy gets it. +1
  19. I would rather see TCU's stadium packed to the gills with 45000+ people screaming their faces off than for a game to be played in the Orange Bowl and be half full and dead because fans are waiting until the championship game to travel if their team makes it. And also: They just don't get it. The only way it will be fair and work the way it needs to is if the semifinals are hosted at the site of the team with the higher seed. Don't give me logistics. There would be plenty of places in Lincoln and Omaha for fans of opposing teams to stay at. Same with Ann Arbor. Other teams play in Ann Arbor 5 or 6 times a year, and I have never heard of any problems with accommodations for opposing fans. What does everybody else think? the sizes of some of the teams stadium are a problem and concern. It means less money and if fans are going to have to travel that means more money they have to spend if there team is doing the traveling. Just think of the hotel prices staying high if a good team keeps winning in the playoffs for a couple of weeks versus 1 bowl game. Like I said, you could have a stadium like at TCU that is completely packed with 45,000 fans and going crazy or a game at a neutral location that is half full. Most fans only budget to travel to one game per season. Average Joe fans anyways. I just can't see the back-to-back neutral sites working well. It will be a big flop and will not be exciting. Not to mention, these "neutral sites" will happen to be in the southeast portion of the country and I wonder what teams those sites would favor.... HuskerShark, you, my friend, are the voice of reason. I've had it with all these talks of having neutral site games and/or using existing bowl games as semifinal locations. Enough already. It's ruining college football, at least for me. The games need to be played at campus sites for the school with the better record/higher ranking. That would make the regular season worth every game. And who cares if a stadium where the game is being played only holds 45,000. That team deserves to play the game at their home stadium. Enough already with that crap. The bowl system stinks as is right now and I want a true playoff system.
  20. Most of the marketing and how the broadcast is run is completely out of CBS's hands. They don't even pay that much relative to what it should cost to broadcast the Masters, because they have to put up with so many specific rules outlined by Billy Payne and his Confederate Army Exactly. Really annoys me how many rules CBS and ESPN have to follow. One that really annoys me is the Masters won't allow the TV announcers to call the rough, the rough! Yuck, enough with their pompous asses.
  21. Make that $66,667 per month until his contract expires in June 2016. $3.4 million. Thanks, TO. That's why Doc will be the coach next season. No doubt about it.
