  1. I had already assumed the kid was smart when I saw he was from Colorado and decided to come to Nebraska! Welcome Mike!!!
  2. Looking for a link to some stats for the game. Anyone?
  3. Me, my wife, my five kids, my cat and the sqirrels in the tree in my back yard are so N you could put us between M and O!
  4. Henry has a shot. When I read that I pictured you saying it like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber. Although he had a better chance of seeing the field than Henry I think!
  5. You were saying....? QB's available, or potentially available for the Huskers to use come fall: Lee, Green, Martinez, Ebke and Washington. With potentially five QB's to choose from, do the Huskers really need a sixth? No. So again, even with Spano's injury, QB is still plenty stocked. Hmmmmmmmmmm, not. How many live game snaps have all of those guys taken in their college careers? 3? 5? Total added together for all of them! We may have a few bodies there but we need the depth and experience. Martinez will not play QB, he's not a college QB. And believe me, I wish he would go in and blow them away and win the job, he shares my last name!
  6. Sorry dude, that is just soooooo freaking ridiculous to say. 16 years old?
  7. He was arrested in 2007 for DUI. Put this shithead in jail for about 20 years, before he kills someone. What a f'ing a-hole. Look in the mirror after that comment.
  8. Man, unless a kid is a super athletic freak these days it seems some are so quick to just write them off. Easy does it.
  9. Actually, having another body for practice and things like that is a big help. It takes some of the work and pressure off of the guys who can play. Don't forget how important that tranfer year was for a guy like Scott Frost to get up to speed. Just because a guy doesn't see the field doesn't mean that his presence won't help the team. Also, if they decide that Martinez is going to be a safety or a WR they can simply start him there and he doesn't have to waste a year at QB when he isn't going to stay there. That's what happened to Major Culbert and Leon Jackson. I think the kids are just much better off if they get put into a position and get to stay there. In that way, Marve's presence could actually help in the development of more than just him.
  10. lol I did everything and it won't let me vote, sorry. I don't even hunt... geez that's 10 minutes i will never get back!
  11. This is like arguing with a little kid. Done.
  12. A tad less edgeiness to this post but still quite a bit of disdain for a kid the (forgive me if I'm wrong here) you haven't talked to and you don't know. Hard line? That's a bit of an understatement.
  13. Ok, I'll bite. I don't necessarily consider myself old or young, I am 29. However, those that look back in awe of the glory years only like to thing that the Huskers built up the empire with a roster that consisted solely of walk-on beefeaters from Smalltown, Nebraska. Osborne had some of the best recruiting classes in the country. Between 93 and 98, I think all classes were rated no lower than 12th. The 1985 class with Steve Taylor and Sandman was a consensus #1 class. What about the class with Turner Gill? It's this head in the clouds infatuation with the 80s and 90s that is annoying. That is no where near USC's top 3 classes every year under Carroll! Those classes were also not consensus, meaning agreed upon by more than one recruiting guru. Gill played on NU teams that passed more than the 90s teams and USC has 3-5 deep top 5 ranked HS QBs. For NU to get Frazier was a steal, since they didn't have the market cornered on option QBs like SC has on pro-style QBs. Sanchez, #1, Corp #4, Mustain, #1, Barkley #1... Where were the two backups to #15 ranked in the recruiting rankings? Perhaps, but you are missing the big point here.... USC sucks and I hate them...have always hated them...and will always hate them. So no matter what USC does or how their recruiting classes rank, blah blah blah...the bottom line is they suck. Carry on.... If you hate them so much, why do you have them in your sig?.. Look again, those are Iowa State players. soooo... iowa states sucks by proxy? YES
  14. I agree 100%. I dont believe this to be a Zac Taylor situation. This seems very much like a Witt/Beck situation. For those who want to compare this situation to Jevan Sneed, at least he lost out to Colty McCoy. Marve lost out to Jacory Harris? Not in the same league. Even with the success that Sneed had last year, I still like to naively believe that you should pick your school based first, on the studies it provides, and second, on the extracurricluar activities. Bottom line for me is that if this were only about playing time, I'd probably be okay with him, but throw in the exta baggage, and I just don't see how this fits what I understood to be Bo's system. This reaks of something more along the lines of what BC would've done. Need I remind everyone of the kinds of players T.O. took chances on? I don't like the DOP to the windows either and while I can say I do see that there is a possibility that this kid isn't right for our program, I also realize that the coaches must have already talked to this kid and liked what they heard and saw if they are courting him. I personally don't actually believe he will come in here and win the job. It's not always about that though. The kid is looking for a home. He has parents who are involved in his life (at the very least) and had a rough time of it in Miami. Sorry, but not fitting in with the "Hurricane Crowd" generally gets you bonus points in my book. If he can come in here, provide depth and competition, and keep his nose clean then there is absolutely no reason not to welcome him. Even a kid who makes terrible mistakes and wants to turn the corner deserves another shot, doesn't he? I'm no bleeding heart by any stretch of the imagination, but I think that some of our fans might be a bit jaded when the word "transfer" comes up since we have had a few who scorned us. I say welcome him if he comes and teach him the Husker Way. GBR!
  15. One of the worst posts I have ever read.
  16. I don't see anything wrong with the way his dad used the word "we". As much as you may think the father may be trying to live vicariously through his son (or whatever reason you dislike the way he used the word), it may very well just indicate how close the family is. It may indicate how Robert looks to his parents for guidance and they make decisions together. I have news for you.... THAT is how a parent should be. I just think it's a little too critical to try to read things like that into what the dad says. You may be right.... you may not.
  17. Everyone cross your fingers.
  18. Hmmmmmmmmmm.... unrealistic and, actually, quite unfair to the players. There are some examples of kids who transfer who don't show the kind of leadership or character you would want ultimately in a player (the Mitch Mustain situation comes to mind), but c'mon. Are you telling me that if your son committed to NU, got there and hated it, didn't like the staff, was struggling in the classroom, and was begging you to approve of him seeking his release you would tell him no? It's very easy to paint with a wide brush and generalize, and I'm sure that we could find some kids that I would agree with you on, but let's be realistic. One guy brought up Jevan Snead. Great example. He gets to Texas and finds himself behind Colt McCoy. He knows he won't play until his senior year. He is early in his college career so now is the time to transfer. Let's not forget, these kids are trying to parlay their college careers into jobs making millions of dollars in the NFL. It's a lot harder to do with just one season under your belt as a starter. First year starters at QB really have to impress to be drafted high. Just look at all of the players who got invites to all star games and the combine that had seasons that paled in comparison to Joe Ganz's season. Don't let your Ivory Tower Meter reach full capacity.
  19. I'm pretty sure I remember that the NU class of Wistrom and those guys who won 3 national titles was ranked somewhere in the upper 20's (like 27-29).
  20. It may be a highlight vid, but man it was a long one! He does get off the blocks well and he has an incredible first step. He also reads the play quickly and I think that is why so many of his tackles went for a loss. One of the best LB videos I have seen, maybe the best. How about those punt return blocks eh? You gotta love a kid who knows how to de-cleat an opposing player like THAT! This is a kid I would like to get.
  21. I cannot imagine our current coaching staff having the patience to continue recruiting David. (Which might eventually attract him even more?) There's so much downside in that it might attract the wrong kind of attention from the NCAA what with Colorado already being known for providing "dates" for recruits. I don't know..Moving ~800 miles for a girl you only met once or twice? (At least when I did it (1300 miles), it was a girl I'd dated for four years)..Any news on his dating habits in Jenks? Did they run out of girls? I read where Mom wants him to see the world, but is Lincoln that much more "worldly" than Jenks? You'd almost imagine he wanted to get outa town to try to escape all the media attention for still being uncommitted, but then he turns around and texts Rivals as to his whereabouts? Anyone remember Collins Okafor? There might be a logjam at RB anyway.. So..Does Lincoln East have several classes in how to pass ACT tests? In this day of "No Child Left Behind" it wouldn't surprise me. (They teach you how to take tests, not to actually learn the subject matter). I hope David picks a college for academics...He may need it. I don't think Okafor is going to be much of a challenger for PT any time soon. I think if Oku were to commit to NU he may enter spring ball with a real chance to contribute as a freshman. We have a lot of solid players on our offense but how many of them would you really classify as true playmakers? Not too many. Oku is the kind of kid who can turn two yard gains into spectacular 65 yard TDs. I could definitely see him returning kicks at least. Being that he is kind of flakey (for lack of a better term), he would also be the kind of guy you would want to get on the field right away. Why waste a redshirt on a kid who may up and leave after one year because he gets antsy? My two cents.
  22. I don't see this anywhere so I'm assuming the J/K at the bottom means "Just Kidding"? If so, argggghhhhh... you got me!
  23. Lol, this is like a freaking soap opera! Oh well, with Witt's departure there is an extra scholarship available. I can't imagine if he wants to come that they would shun him. He's a super talented kid and would make a great combo with Trey and Rex. I'm not complaining, but I am wondering if he does sign and enroll at NU this fall.... will he stick?
