  1. sorry dude you did say bigger And we've never agreed because as bad as I believe Cosgrove is there is no system in the world that is designed for the MLB to duck and run away from blocks Also you said you recall someone saying they think Asante SHOULD play LB, that would be an opinion so there is no need for you to keep telling us he’s playing S. Like I said no one said anyone WAS changing positions they said they think he should play LB.
  2. Husker 1 I’ve tried to refrain but you leave me no choice. First of all SLB does not have to be any bigger or stronger than a WLB its just the way you play the position.Jamel Williams was smaller than Terrell Farley and by their sr. year Tony Ortiz was smaller than Eric Johnson so size is not the most important thing. But…all that is irrelevant being that McKeon plays MLB and by the way the SLB may take on blocks from the TE but the MLB is taking on blocks from the C,G and FB, I think McKeon can take on a block. Also you and your little buddies keep arguing that Asante is not moving to LB he was brought here to play S. I don’t recall myself or anyone else saying anyone was changing positions, please read my post before you argue with me, for the last time all I am simply saying is IF(key word was IF) the coaches wanted to move Asante or Culbert they would not have to put on weight I believe landonhusker has already pointed that out.
  3. If you would have read my post the first thing I said was that I’m not saying anybody is switching positions. All I am saying is that if they thought Culbert was athletic and tenacious enough to play LB he would not have to add a whole bunch of weight. Bleedin red I don’t know how old you are but 1995 was not that long ago. O-line men were just as big and strong,TEs were big and could block. You act like humans have evolved into some sort of super natural creatures in the last 5-10 years. There is no way anybody can make me believe that the 95 defense would not be successful today (all the way down to the 205lbs LBs) You just need a coach that knows how to use his personnel.
  4. Then move Turner to corner, he might be good a jamming people. Then once you do that you might as well put jones up on the line. He would be one great speed rusher. But in all seriousness I said if Culbert beefs up he could play linebacker. He is at about 200 now right? You could get him up to 225 at least by fall practice. We need some more dept at the linebacker position as well. But you are right that we need help in the secondary too. I am just throwing out ideas. Like I said in my previous post I don’t know that they are moving anyone but if they were to want to move Culbert to LB he would not have to add any weight. How soon you guys forget T.Farley and J.Williams(they were both listed at 205 but Williams looked a lot smaller…he was even smaller than M.Booker who was the corner) I would love to see them play Culbert or Asante at LB so then when dumba$$ Cosgrove decides to cover WR with LB we will have the speed and athleticism to do it . PS… Husker 1 Jamel Williams played SAM LB at “205”lbs… weird
  5. Hey there old buddy, I'm not trying to be a d!ck but MLB's are usually bigger and stronger then SLB's. Dillards size is perfect for the MIKE and McKeons size and speed are perfect for the SAM. It's not called strong side because you need to be strong, it's called strong side because you line up on the strong side of the field, the side the TE lines up on. And they wouldn't be changing Asante to LB from Safety, he's A JUCO MLB. Anyway correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Green going to be moved to FS. That way we'll have Culbert take over SS for Green and maybe Asante will be able to play a little LB. We could use his speed at LB. (I know you remember Terrell Farley and Jamel Williams, 95 wasn't that long ago) I'm not saying Asante will play LB but I think that's what people are talking about.
  6. Any student can have that hectic of a daily schedule. What about the students who are taking 22 credit hours, or triple majoring, or the student who is a teenage mother... Just like the regular students, the athletes CHOOSE to live this life. They choose for three to four months out of the year to have a crazy schedule. They know very well getting into it what is to be asked of them. And that's what I like about college football. It's NOT about the money. The students love the sport and WANT to do it. Unlike how it has become in pro. again, what about the non-student athletes? I went to a school that didn't have an athletic department, but had me going to class about 12 hours a day. With class schedules changing every month. I had to take student loans out just for living expenses. If you think that's ridiculous for athletes to go through, write your congressman about the current student private and federal loan interest rates. The fact of the matter is the University's are a BUSINESS. They're in it to teach students, yes...but they're also there to make money. We're the consumers who pay to get an education. And it costs the school to get the things they need/want. Although I will agree that maybe the salaries of coaches, athletic directors, and the like are a little crazy. But who am I to complain how much we pay them...as long as they lead us to a National Championship. The idea of paying students to go to school is ridiculous. Next we'll be talking about paying high school students who play for their athletic programs when they're 16-17. Paying students won't only ruin the historic integrity of college football, but will create a great number of pompous, prima donna, ass holes in every school. No one is talking millions of dollars a year, just a couple hundred dollars a week to live, all the regular students are allowed to work when and were they want and they are also allowed to receive gifts and money from anyone that wants to give it to them. When’s the last time 90,000 fans came to watch a regular student take a final
  7. Husker1 I thought I was done with you. Now you feel compelled to comment about me. I never agreed with you but respected your argument, capp came in the thread with nothing insightful just saying "Shanle sucks". So I responded to him in a way he would understand. Now you want to jump in it. Why don't you worry about writing something someone can understand and speak to me when you're spoken to.
  8. What? Its cool man you keep blaming Shanle for all of our defenses 2nd half melt downs and our complete inability to put pressure on opposing QBs, and continue to put the blame on the guy that designed the system and kept him out there. Heres to the future( even though we had three future NFL DBs in 04 and our D still sucked)
  9. Because we have NO depth to rest our starters. That's why c’mon johnny husker you don’t even believe that
  10. WOW… it’s hard to respect your “expert analysis” when you make such ridicules statements. How pathetic has the Big Red become when 7th graders are better than some of the BLACKSHIRTS…weird. Now I know you guys have all told me “it’s not coaching the players suck” .So your telling me on our whole roster we don’t have a FS better than your average middle school kid. If he’s the least athletic player we have why design trick plays that involve him, and then run them deep on your own side of the field. The fake punt was dumb and Cosgrove sucks.
  11. I agree with part of what you said, because I think his confidence had to be low. You don’t make it to you Sr. year at a major D1 school not knowing how to tackle. But if you’re thinking about everything and not just going off instinct it could get rough. I still think its the coaches job to get the guys in the right position so they have less things to think about and they can just play off instinct
  12. I have to agree with Ca husker on this one. What kind of buffoon leaves the worst DB in the schools history in all year? (Don’t answer that question I already know) I also remember Shanle playing well as a back up in his freshmen and sophomore seasons, but all of our DB’s have been bad since coz has been the coordinator. Have we just had players that suck or a coach that has them out of position and looking bad?
  13. We had Texas beat this year............................ that is just it, right there.....really good teams don't f#*k up and they FINISH......we rarely FINISHED anything we started, when playing quality opponents....we still have to do what Ped has wanted since he fired Frankie....compete with quality opponents....we may be closer, but we ain't THERE yet!
  14. Nice post… but those numbers are misleading, do you have the stats for the USC,Texas (I’ll even give you the shovel pass to BJax for the td ),Oklahoma and Auburn games. I don’t know if it’s his lack of athleticism or the play calling but he’s terrible in big games. He sits in the pocket holds the ball forever and takes sacks. I know those are some of the best defenses in the country but you can’t be non existent against the elite teams and then be compared to the top QB’s in the nation
  15. lets see he came up with TWO good game plans, and how many times a day is a broken clock right?
  16. Dude how could you possibly want Cosgrove to be fired? Especially after shutting down that offensive powerhouse Auburn. Doesn’t their QB have tourette's?
  17. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 25 years 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Dad 3) Where are you from originally? West Covina ,Ca 4) Where do you live now? 18. "Give me one good team that uses the option now" doesn’t make sense, because were talking about the Husker option, the T.O. option, no one before, then, or after has run any offence like it. A lot of people here are acting like all we did is QB run then pitch to the left or to the right, we all now it was more than that. And with the whole defenses are to fast thing, like I’ve said and others have said the NFL is full of defensive players that played collage in the 90,s(you know Ray Lewis, Leonard Little, Al Wilson, Warren Sapp just to name a few). That whole speed thing didn’t bother Corey Schlessinger on his FB traps (I believe that in the 90’s FB were slower then DB & OLB…or is that just now?). It’s not all about speed, speed is important but discipline and play calling play as big if not a bigger part.
  19. No offense to anyone who posted this, but how dumb is it to take the time to read then post in a dumb thread?
  20. I agree 100%. like the fast NFL defenses are full of the slow kids that played CFB in the 1990's
  21. I’m not comparing the NU defense to anybody the other guy was. But I read the post and everyone took everything he said and nit-picked it to every single stat (Coz had good numbers in 98 when it was snowing after 5:00 pm on every other sat.) He’s saying the same thing I’ve been saying “what has coz done for us”
