  1. Exactly. How dare someone post his "inside sources" on a the rumor forum. Outrageous! Don't come on this forum if you don't want to read the rumors, hypocrites.
  2. I just don't understand how people think going from HC at Buffalo to OC at NU is definitely a step back. Look around at the candidates being mentioned for various HC openings, most of them are at high profile schools as coordinators - Pelini, Muschamp, Mullen, and there's probably more. What small school HC's are being mentioned? Gill is the only one I've heard, but there's probably at least a few. I'm almost certain Gill will not be at Buffalo next year, he'll either come back to NU in some capacity or move on to a bigger name program. Staying at Buffalo won't help his long-term career.
  3. 13 seasons at GV at least makes it seem like he's not purely motivated by ambition. My other point was not that he didn't play, but that he's never been at a major program either as a player or a coach. And I think his $2 million buyout (which may be reduced to $1 million) may be prohibitive as far as the money issue. Again, I am fine with hiring Kelly, but I have reservations about him.
  4. He's staying there to replace Beamer. I'm not sure Beamer's retiring anytime soon. I think Foster might be a better hire than Pelini or Muschamp (out of possible DC's).
  5. While I am ok with hiring Kelly, he seems like the coaching flavor of the week to me. As far as I can tell, he has never played or coached at a major football program. Cincinnati is the biggest program he's been at. And he's always restoring down-trodden programs, not programs which are good but trying to become great. He also hasn't stayed at a school long enough to maintain the momentum he's created. These are minor objections, I know, but he just doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling for the future.
  6. Is there anyone but Nebraskans going to that site? Of course they're going to vote for all things Husker.
  7. Hahaha, I thought you meant "parody" at first - as in the SEC is a parody of football. I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes...
  8. I don't have the link, but Alvarez has made a statement that he does not want to coach again nor does he want to leave Wisconsin.

  10. I'm pretty sure it's at noon... high noon. [whistling] [tumble weeds roll by]
  11. It's possible BO comes as the HC and Turner returns as the OC. I know a lot of people don't think turner would move from HC at Buffalo to OC at NU, but I think he'd at least consider it. He'd be at the school he loves and would be in excellent position to become the next HC at NU. At the very least it's a pay increase.
  12. I think you mean "level of experience". Having lots of 4th and 5th year players does not make them talented. And that's kind of the point - Grobe is winning at Wake Forest!!!! WF went to the Orange Bowl. Did you really see that happening? Sure he's not competing for a national title, but what do you think he'd do with the talent at NU? I guess that's really the question we're asking about all the HC candidates - how do you think he'd do at NU?
  13. Has Kelly ever played or coached at a major football program? I'm serious, I don't know the answer. All I've ever seen is that he was D2, C. Mich., and Cincinatti. If that's it, I'd be worried about a guy that's never had high fan expectations or media scrutiny let alone the boosters.
  14. I didn't realize Bud Foster was only 48. He's got to be considered towards the top of the list having coached under Beamer with strong D and special teams.
  15. Come on, don't you guys know that Bo doesn't use airplanes? He simply changes into his S-suit with the cape and flies himself to Lincoln.
  16. I understand your concern and I share it to a lesser degree, but the quote is some reporter for an Austin newspaper. The opinions of other Husker fans on this board mean more to me than a pundit from Texas, JMO. Along these lines, does anyone have more sources regarding Pelini's recruiting prowess?
  17. Do you have a link for Gill being lazy? I heard this same rumor but about Gill when he was a player not as a coach. And even then the rumor had no evidence. TO has known Gill a really long time, I'm going to trust his take on whether Gill will be a good HC over any of these internet rumors.
  18. Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but Shanahan isn't leaving Denver and we couldn't afford him if he did. IIRC he's making around $6 million per year. Nu isn't paying more than $2 million.
  19. I'll chime in with a vote against both Rose and Pavelka. It's like a real election - I don't have anyone to vote for, only lame ducks to vote against.
  20. I'm still a little hesitant about Pelini, but I think both Grobe and Johnson are excellent HC's. I remarked in another thread that Johnson ran a spread offense at Hawaii and Navy as OC a few years ago, so he won't necessarily bring the option game he uses at Navy.
  21. Bo's not going to come back to be DC. He's the top asst coac in the country so ll kinds of schools will want him for HC. Yes, that's what everyone is saying. The HC can still fix the defense.
