  1. Rumor has it he was at practice today.
  2. Amen. Octo MIGHT have an impact this season but I think he'll disappear into the woodwork. McKeon, Ruud, and Brandenburg have all shown a lot more on the field. Dilliard might also have an impact but he's coming back from a major injury and hasn't shown much more than Octo.
  3. With the OL recruits in the 07 class and Baker and Hoch already committed for 08, Trevor is really just gravy. He won't make or break this class.
  4. Word is he committed to Mizzou.
  5. "Just one binger, to brighten up your day." "Okay, just one hit, then I've got to go..."
  6. Other than a very good 1st quarter against Maine 2 seasons ago, Octo hasn't impressed me. He's supposedly got potential, but he hasn't even looked as good as Ruud - that's why Ruud's starting at WLB. And rumor has it Octo has work ethic and attitude problems off the field which has gotten him into hot water with the coaches. JMO, but I think Ruud is a very good LB, while Octo continues to just have potential. I certainly hope Octo will emerge from the depth chart, but I expect he'll ride the bench this year.
  7. I think it'll be: SLB: Brandenburg, Dillard MLB: McKeon, Dillard WLB: Ruud, Octavian I could see Brandenburg and Dillard switching around though. I don't think there's any way McKeon isn't the MLB. I wouldn't be too surprised if somebody like Covey or Culbert took Octavian's spot if Octo doesn't have marked improvement in conditioning and attitude.
  8. I don't think it looks good for us getting Trevor. He has said he'd like to commit beofre his senior season so how teams do next fall probably won't matter.
  9. Ratings are heavily based on the tangibles - like height. 6' is considered short for a QB so I'd be REALLY surprised if he gets 5 stars. He's a very good 3 star with 4 star potential as far as the services go, IMO.
  10. Well, he'll be a 4-year starter and star on a struggling to get off the bottom rung.
  11. He committed to ISU and is not visiting NU.
  12. A good rule of thumb I use is add two-tenths of a second to any reported 40 time unless it's an electronic forty from a reliable source (like the Nike camps or NFL combine). 4.2 speed would make him one of the fastest people in the world. So he's more likely a 4.4/4.5 guy, which is still really fast.
  13. Another rumor that has sprung up is Watson to OC/QB and Eric Roark to TE/RC. Roark is a coach at SMU: bio
  14. I've heard he's more around 5'10" and 190 and is the speedy slot receiver type. Either way, hope he's N.
  15. IMO: Watson moves to OC and continues working with the TE's, Busch adds Recruiting Coordinator to his title, and Rich Gannon comes in as a QB coach (some rumors floating around indicating Gannon may be interested - just rumors).

  17. I'm surprised people are on Ruud's case. He was easily the best LB on the team the past season. McKeon and Brandenburg are good LB's. Octavian and Dillard have great potential, but neither has shown much in games and both have been injured. Covey is in the shadows long with a few others who could be moved to LB from DB, although those would be very surprising. The LB's next year IMO: SLB: Brandenburg, Covey/Ruud MLB: McKeon, Dillard WLB: Ruud, Octavian
  18. Rivals and Scout now both list him as a commit.
  19. I don't have the link to the story, but Townsend was quoted saying he will be at NU in the fall.
  20. Yes, he's a 3 for 3 JUCO who'll be here this spring.
  21. I agree that the hype needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But we do return 3 senior corners with lots of experience (Bowman, Grixby, Jones), some young DBs with limited experience (Young, Thenarse, Culbert), and 2 JUCO DB's who will have been here for spring practice (Murrillo, Asante). Not too mention Green with 2 years in the secondary, and Brian Wilson who has looked good in limited action this year in the nickel and dime. I think we can be very hopeful for next year with higher expectations without leaving reality.
  22. I never thought he was as good as the other players we've been after. Especially after we got Asante, I just didn't think the coaches wanted Bernstine that badly. Good luck to him at Iowa.
  23. I agree. I think people are being too hard on Grixby considering the entire secondary has played poorly this season. Replacing Shanle will allow the coaches to call some different coverages instead of trying to protect our safeties.
  24. Bill Busch has stated before that the safety positions can switch depending on how the offense lines up. So the safeties probably know both positions. I think it mostly matters how we play out of the base defense against balanced formations.
  25. It appears to be incorrect since Townsend has said he'll be here in the fall.
