  1. OMG. Can one of the mods step up and ban this guy? I'm sorry, but this is almost getting ridiculous. I wish somebody would cut the phone lines to his trailer park so his dial up would be gone...
  2. You people who think moving to the Big Ten is because we lost one stupid football game need to get a clue. Do you really think Osborne is that petty? Come on. And yes, if we win that game we'd be talking about this today. In fact, if we had won the last 500 games in a row, we'd be having this discussion.
  3. I sure hope this sh*t doesn't break out the first time Nebraska plays in Columbus...
  4. Think it stays the Big 10, at least initially. But for a conference that is as highly regarded academically, it looks stupid to call yourself the Big 10 when there are 12 teams in it. My vote goes for something that does not have a number in it. Great Lakes and Heartland are both good.
  5. I have been to Iowa City for a game, its nice. Just cover your bung hole, there are alot of queers. Oh let the games begin. OMG...I lmao when I read that!
  6. For the most part, most of Husker Nation is excited about joining the Big 10. Of course, the blue hairs are worried about it. As for the atmosphere/crowd, you have your fair share of "sit down" people, who are usually about 100 yrs old. The rest of the crowd will be very loud on defense. We applaud the opposing team after the game as they leave the field, win or lose. We have on occasion booed our own team, but it will cause an uproar on talk radio for the next week. Pre-game tailgating is top notch. You will find that 95% of Husker fans will invite you over for a burger/brat if you are wearing the opposing colors. 5% are douche bags. If someone in the crowd is being an ass, he/she will generally get shouted down by the rest of the crowd. I am biased, but I think it is one of the best atmospheres around for college football. I can't wait to experience game day in Columbus, Ann Arbor, Iowa City, etc. GO BIG RED!!
  7. Why does everyone think Nebraska wants the Big 12 to distribute the wealth equally? That HURTS Nebraska because they way the Revenue model is set up now FAVORS TV appearances. Nebraska to the Big 10 has more to do with the academic prestige of the conference than the money. The money is the icing on the cake. Nebraska fits in way better with the other "Land Grant" Universities of the Big 10, the Tradition of the schools fits in with ours, etc. The only way NU stays in the Big 12 is because of guilt. Kansas, K-State, ISU are already crying, calling, begging for NU to stay. If NU does stay, we need to get some sort of assurance from Texas that they will not stand in the way of a Big 12 Network. Also, if Nebraska stays, why not look at Big 12 expansion? I know there are a lack of quality teams to fill, but I think some combo of the following would be a good mix: Arkansas, New Mexico, Boise St, Utah, Colorado State, BYU, Wyoming, or Air Force. None of those teams are the "Home Run", but would help expand the footprint of the Conference, establish new rivalries, help current rivalries, and re-establish old rivalries. Arkansas would be tough to pry from the SEC, but if we could guarantee the Conference Network w/X amount of dollars, it may benefit Arkansas to leave the SEC. All that said. I hope the following happens: Missouri, Nebraska, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Notre Dame join the Big 10/Televen/16/Great Lakes Conference whatever it will be called. I think the best way for this conference to work logistically is for 2 8 team divisions. West - Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Notre Dame. East - Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn State, and Indiana. 9 Conference Games, 7 division and 2 out of division, round robin set up. This would help reduce the travel from the west to east for the athletes. For the Olympic sports, a 2x2 model could be implemented for road trips to lessen the travel time. If NU goes to Rutgers for a basketball game, they would then play at Syracuse on the same trip. GO BIG RED!
  8. Not sure if this has been posted anyplace else... http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/060810dnospobayloremails.7e10ca51.html Corn Shuckers? Not very Christian of you down there at Baylor. How about you cry and whine and beg and plead your way into another conference that doesn't want you. The time has come to kiss the Big Texas Conference goodbye.
  9. Heard a rumor that Osborne is in Chicago today. Not sure how much truth is behind that considering when he flew to Baton Rouge, everyone and their dog knew when he took off, landed, Plane number, farted, etc, so take it for what it's worth. I for one hope we either sh*t or get off the pot on this expansion. I'm ready for a change of scenery and a real Rivalry in Iowa. I think it's funny every team sided w/Texas when the Big 12 was formed and now we hold the pin to the grenade that can destroy it. If TO and Perlman really wanted to stay in the Big 12, they should use that for leverage. I for one, don't see this potential move to the Big Televen as strictly being a football move. I honestly think the Academics are playing at least a 40-50% role in the possible move. After all, the University of Nebraska is a University first. Either way, I'm going to support the decisions TO and Perlman make. GO BIG RED!
  10. Why does everyone assume that our recruiting will suffer due to us joining the Big Televen? Someone please explain this to me. First off, Nebraska has DECADES of ties to the state of Texas for recruiting. Funny, we had no problem recruiting the state in the 50 yrs prior to Texas joining the Big 12. If your program is committed to winning National Championships, athletes will come. The TV will be better with more people watching ESPN and ESPN2 than stupid FSN and Versus. The Pelini's have natural ties to hot bed recruiting states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, plus Louisiana and Texas. I just don't buy the argument that athletes only come to Nebraska because of playing the occasional game in Texas. At most, we play 1 game a year in Texas. This is like Obama still blaming Bush for his failures. It makes no sense. It's like wiping before you poop. That said. If you asked me 4 years ago, I'd a said no way. Now, I LOVE the idea of joining the Big 11. Playing Iowa (instantly becomes NU's biggest Rival) Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State would excite the fans. Toss in the fact we are now FREE to schedule Oklahoma EVERY YEAR instead of 2 times every 4 years. NU/OU could now be played YEARLY on the Friday following Thanksgiving or in the 4 weeks before conference season starts. How is this not a win/win situation? At least entertain the offer Osborne/Perlman. Like another poster said, it may at least buy NU some more power in the Big 12. Osborne was the lone dissenter of the Big 12 because of the conference becoming Texas-centric...guess what? It is Texas-centric now...
  11. Thank God! I thought I was the only one watching the game that saw this! 2 things. 1) If the gunners are lined up outside and the return team is setting up block, they do not have to come in to block. They can stay there and not have to risk a penalty. 2) If the punter can not manage to throw a ball fairly accurately 15 yards to a WIDE open gunner they should quit football and take up ballet. I could throw a football 15 yards and hit what I'm throwing at with my NON THROWING HAND. (full disclosure, it would look like a 5 year old girl threw it, but it would get there!) I was screaming at the tv to throw it out to the gunner on the second punt in which OU lined up bringing pressure and our gunners came in. It's the return teams responsibility to cover the gunners on the outside. If they don't, make them pay.
  12. Am I the only person in this thread that doesn't think Roy SHOULD have caught that pitch? I mean it was thrown almost over his head, in fact, drilling him in the face mask. I would dare any of you to strap up some pads, run the option against a terrific defense, with a piss poor O-line blocking for you and I'll pitch the football at your face full speed and see how many times you drop the ball... That being said, I think the reception COULD have been made, given some actual "PRACTICE" running the option. If you are going to run the option, RUN IT. You can't expect to just show up on Saturday and be able to run the option. It takes MONTHS of practice.
  13. 1) The ball traveled forward, so regardless of how the ball went forward, it is an incomplete pass 2) There was an OU receiver in the general vicinity. I think it was Murray. At first, I thought it was intentional grounding also, but the replay's proved otherwise.
  14. WOW really.....this is a message board and the internet....you'll see things like that a lot...get over it. If you're not going to talk about Husker football than go find a grammer message board instead since thats the only thing you're interested in. How can you take anything seriously from someone who can't grasp the use of the word 'Lose'? Everything they say after that means nothing because obviously they are an idiot. That is my point. Hope the admin doesn't think the idiot call was a personal attack, because it is a general assumption of everyone that says "I think we will loose 4 games this year because we always are loosing the tough games" etc etc... I'm sorry if I get upset over it, but it is one of my biggest pet peaves. I'm sure you have some also. GBR P.S. It's grammar, not grammer lol...sorry had to point it out... Whoops...didn't realize you were the original poster defending yourself. Thought you were just replying to mine. lol, I'm probably going to be banned for the idiot comment, so I'll apologize now. Sorry.

  16. Time for a grammar lesson for you people who can't grasp the present and past tense use of the word "lose". "VT Lose will make the Huskers STRONGER" - No, the LOSS will "Lets keep positive and supporting our Huskers in these tough loses" - No, tough LOSSES Also see varying uses of the words 'Loose' 'Loosing' etc...It isn't that tough of a word, why do so many people massacre it? I'm pretty sure it was covered in 1st grade... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Lose
  17. Seriously? After the GREAT game Roy had . . . averaging 7 yards a carry . . . you want to take carries AWAY from him? Where is the logic in that? Find the hot hand . . . and run with it. Roy had the hot hand. Don't bother spreading carries when your back is running that well. AGREED...This is one of my biggest problem with fellow Husker fans. They fall madly in love with the backups and even after the starter has an amazing game against a perennial top 10 defense, they are still b!tching that the back up didn't get any carries...wtf?!? Get a clue...
  18. I don't know if he had a hand injury or not, but it's tough to complete a pass when you are throwing without your feet being set, jumping in the air, running to your right, which he did EVERY PASS...Set your G.D. feet!!! If he sets his feet on the deep throw to Curenski, it's 6 pts instead of him diving for the pass on the sideline and making an amazing catch when there wasn't a VT defender within 10 yds... That was an awful loss. No moral victories anymore. This team has the tools to win these games, but it takes time to learn how to win. It will take some work to beat Mizzou, Texas Tech, KU...could be in for an interesting year for sure! GO BIG RED!
  19. The whole purpose of using Thunderstruck is for this fact. You can replace Thunder with Huskers in the lead up to the guitar rift. We use AC/DC for the Blackshirts and don't hear you complaining about the bells tolling for Hells Bells.
  20. WTF is a troll? And how am I one? I agree. The song will never, ever change. We'll have to listen to Sirius for the rest of time...
  21. Not go get back on topic or anything, but I started this thread to see what interest there would be in changing the Tunnel Walk music to Thunderstruck, not Young Jeezy or Tupac or whatever. lol...
  22. No offense and hope no one takes this the wrong way, but most Nebraska fans are white and do not relate to rap music. Most rap/hip-hop songs are about inner city issues or morals, which we don't care for nor about. Country is my favorite genre of music, but no way would I want a country song as the theme for the Tunnel Walk. Hard rock is definitely the way to go.
  23. Oh no, keep the Tunnel Walk, but just update the song is what I'm saying. I love the old highlights, game calls, etc...
